The edges actually do take dye, well in fact. You can even see the dye design on the black over mold portion of the discs if you put in under some light.
@@SargsHappyLittleDiscs But the colours dont take over the black, right? I have a white glitch I want to dye blue/pink/purple and its my first dye ever. Are those lighter colours visible on a black rim?
The lighter colors are not visible on the black rim. I will say if you get that black rim to hit the light just perfectly you will see some color variations from the die on that rim. Very hard to see, you have to look pretty close.
@@SargsHappyLittleDiscs Thanks! I just watched your video where you dyed the MVP Mini and it worked well there so I guess I have nothing to worry about
A Euro is currently still worth more than a U.S. dollar, but not by much. One Euro is worth $1.08 US Dollars. instead of putting so much glue or Floetrol down the sink, I have a large plastic container with a bunch of inexpensive cat litter in it. I scrape my glue, or Floetrol, into the cat litter. Once it dries, it is easy to pull out (with gloves) and toss in the waste basket.
Now I want souvlaki. our favorite restaurant in Greektown Baltimore serves this instead of the gyro (yee-roe). I also want to see that Kotuko dyed! Atomic or magma plastic?
The gyro will take dye. If you don't want the border dyed then you can put a glue mask around the edge or you can cut a stencil out that fits over it. The black gyro edges will also take dye, really hard to see but it's there.
Thanks. To be honest I just thought the black would come through a bit and possibly make the other colors deeper. It may have done that, but maybe not. Haha. You can use white (straight floetrol) as well.
@@SargsHappyLittleDiscs Awesome thanks! I haven't made the jump to floetrol yet. That's next. Love the videos by the way. I wish you would talk about what you are doing a little more. Even if you do it in post.
@@SargsHappyLittleDiscs do you think a longer sit would've had any better saturation or do you think that's just all you would get with that color of disc and type of plastic? To follow that up, what's the longest you'd leave a disc under heat?
I do think a bit longer could get some deeper colors. It's a fine line with heat and time though. Shorter time with more heat or longer sit times with less heat like at 102. Longest I've had a floetrol bed is 15 hours. It was sitting around 98 or so .
Sweet CHEERS yea I'm having problems dying colored disc tell everyone to buy 2 new disc preferably white I keep one and I will dye on for them everyone brings me colored one lol there not coming out horrible but yea it sucks
Get one disc of each color.....then make a color palate on each one. So divide the disc into equal parts and put a different color in each part. Then you will know on future discs what color dyes go well with what color disc.
Dang that is a sick dye
Thanks brother!
That came out awesome!!!
Thanks! I can dig on this one.
Super cool.
Thank you. Cheers to you.
Always a big fan of your work! Can you recommend a good leak proof bottle?
Thanks. Sorry for the late reply. I use the 16oz squeeze bottles from Amazon.
Does the edge of MVP/Axiom discs not absorb the dye? Ive got a glitch Im looking to dye and want to know if I need to protect the black rim

For sure. You are good to go. I've done so many MVP, axiom and streamline discs. They all take dye so we'll. Really good actually. Go for it!

Great idea! That stuff gets expensive for sure

Sooo good. I'll do that kotuko soon....
do you have to worry about the gyro border on MVP discs

Great dye. I gotta buy me some split cups now that I'm messing with Floetrol. I have to ask too - what difference does the black Floetrol make?
Thanks. To be honest I just thought the black would come through a bit and possibly make the other colors deeper. It may have done that, but maybe not. Haha. You can use white (straight floetrol) as well.
Gotta ask, did you make or buy the black Floetrol? And why black Floetrol?
I made it. It's cool black from pro chemical and dye.
@@SargsHappyLittleDiscs awesome! Does it have an impact on the dye process?
Did you use heat with the floetrol? How long did you let it sit?
I did use heat. Let it sit for 1 hour at 105 -110.

I hear you. I'll start writing down what I do a bit more in detail.
But again, if you have any questions please let me know. I'll try to answer them.
