What size dropper bottles are you using and where are they available?
These dropper bottles are just 2oz bottles with dropper from Amazon. Cheap and work great.
I love a Sapphire, and I love your dyes!
Ahhhh, thank you! Much appreciated
How long did you leave this disc in the bed?
These get left in for about an hour to two hours at 104 degrees Fahrenheit
You take requests?! I’ve got a yeti pro I need dyed!
Jeff, I haven't dyed a disc in a second. I'd need to mix up all new colors and get back in a groove (no pun intended).
Do you add water to your glue base? That glue looks pretty "moveable" when you made the swirl
I don't. When I use glue it is just straight up clear glue.
Also, just to be clear... This isn't a glue bed. It's floetrol.
What dye do you use?
I use pro chemical and dye (they have a section on their site for disc golf) and idye poly. Both work fantastic!
Did you take a break from making videos? Miss you!~ hope you’re doing ok!
That is amazing! I feel the love! I have taken a break. We moved and honestly these dyers these days are so good..I'm a little "old school" with my ways on how to dye and can't quite compete in the techniques.oit there. I still have my dye station set up and ready to go though. Not that I really need to compete, you know I started this channel just because nobody would show you any of their processes back in the day when I started. A lot of guys will show you how to do things now. Not that this channel was made out of spite, but I was pretty irritated that nobody would tell you or show you how to do anything. Hey, I appreciate the comment. Best one in a while. Cheers to you.
Right on man! I’m happy to hear you’re doing alright, I started dabbling in the dyes almost two years ago and i tried to copy many of your discs along the way. I appreciate everything you do for the hobby and all the helpful responses to comments and questions from folks like me trying to get better. See you around!
Right on brother! I appreciate it. Have a great New Year's!
do you have to worry about the gyro border on MVP discs
The gyro will take dye. If you don't want the border dyed then you can put a glue mask around the edge or you can cut a stencil out that fits over it. The black gyro edges will also take dye, really hard to see but it's there.
Does using the clear glue make the disc any heavier?
It does not. The glue is just the medium that lets the dye transfer to the plastic.
@@SargsHappyLittleDiscs Thank you! last question, the prochem dye I saw inline was a powder. Do you purchse your dye as a liquid or do you turn the powder into a liquid?
This is a good one. I've watched it a few times. Where can I get a plit cup like that?
Thank you! I appreciate it. I also absolutely love this one. So I printed the split cup from a file on thingverse. You can buy them at craft stores or even easier on Amazon.
where'd you pick up the sweet pour cup with dividers?
I printed it on my 3D printer. Amazon and Etsy have them also. They are pretty cheap. They are called split pour cups.
Awesome! thank you for the info!! @@SargsHappyLittleDiscs
You got it! Cheers!
Lotta care went into getting that swirl just right
Thanks JD! Appreciate it. I really like this one. Still one of my favorites of all time.
That's my favorite disc you've done!
Thank you! Appreciate it
Does the edge of MVP/Axiom discs not absorb the dye? Ive got a glitch Im looking to dye and want to know if I need to protect the black rim
The edges actually do take dye, well in fact. You can even see the dye design on the black over mold portion of the discs if you put in under some light.
@@SargsHappyLittleDiscs But the colours dont take over the black, right? I have a white glitch I want to dye blue/pink/purple and its my first dye ever. Are those lighter colours visible on a black rim?
The lighter colors are not visible on the black rim. I will say if you get that black rim to hit the light just perfectly you will see some color variations from the die on that rim. Very hard to see, you have to look pretty close.
@@SargsHappyLittleDiscs Thanks! I just watched your video where you dyed the MVP Mini and it worked well there so I guess I have nothing to worry about
For sure. You are good to go. I've done so many MVP, axiom and streamline discs. They all take dye so we'll. Really good actually. Go for it!
The best part of your videos, besides how cool your discs are….you and your wife on the reveal I love it! ❤🥏🥏🥏🎉
Hahaha! Thanks! My wife is now going to make us do more dye videos because of this comment. Hahaha! Cheers to you
Love your stuff man! Do you have a video on what you do after you send it? Do you use heat on your glue beds or just let them sit?
Thanks brother. I don't know if I have a specific video on what I do after... But I can tell you. Lol. I use a seeding mat (check Amazon). Basically I just want a slight bit of heat to the bed. In the summer I don't use it, dye station is in the hot garage. Lol but in the winter I use the seeding mat then cover the beds with a small tea (kitchen) towel to keep more of the heat in.
Instead of pouring so much glue down the drain and into your pipes, get a plastic bin and some cheap, clumping cat litter. Put the cat litter in the bin, scrape the excess glue off the disc into the cat litter, then wash off what little is left on the disc. Do the same with the glue bed, scrape all of it that you can into the cat litter, wash off what little is left. Let the wet glue sit in the cat litter for a day and then pull the clump out and throw it in the trash.
Nice! Great idea. Thanks!
Where do you get the UV dye?! Came out sickkkkkkk
The UV dye is worm dip. It works fantastic! Just don't use garlic scented, it's really bad.
Honestly the best use for a Numark turntable 😂
Hahahahaha! So funny!
A Euro is currently still worth more than a U.S. dollar, but not by much. One Euro is worth $1.08 US Dollars. instead of putting so much glue or Floetrol down the sink, I have a large plastic container with a bunch of inexpensive cat litter in it. I scrape my glue, or Floetrol, into the cat litter. Once it dries, it is easy to pull out (with gloves) and toss in the waste basket.
Great idea! That stuff gets expensive for sure
I know I’m commenting on a 2 year old video but have you dyed any of prodigy’s 500 plastic. It’s one of my favourites to dye. Love your videos!
What's up Jacob. I have! Dyes good. BTW, you can comment on any of the videos, I always get a notification. I'm still around, not dyeing as much, obviously, but I still have everything and will start again. Cheers
excellent! thank you for showing off your trick with the tape measure and coasters, so worth the little extra effort
Oh, right on! Thanks for checking out the video. Cheers
Sick!! I love it. Trying my first batch of Dying today.
Thanks! Get you some! If you have any questions, just ask.
What dyes are you using? Are they pre-mixed?
Hi Eric. I use pro chemical and dye along with Idye poly and some worm dip here and there. The worm dip is premixed when it comes to you (do not get garlic scented!) The pro chemical and dye and Idye poly need to be mixed with acetone. I use 1/4-1/2 tsp per 2 oz. 1/4 tsp is for the really potent colors like red and the 1/2 tsp is for pretty much anything lighter like pink, yellow, orange etc.
what is your mix of floetrol to dye?
Hey Bill! So it kind of depends on what color I'm using. For instance, reds and blues get about one teaspoon per 16 oz. And pretty much anything lighter than that gets about a teaspoon and a quarter to a teaspoon and a half per 16 oz. Hopefully that helps. Cheers
@Sarg's Happy Little Discs Absolutely helps. Thank you for the quick response. I'm starting to get into dyeing discs and still trying different things to see what style I prefer. I have lots of discs to practice on before i work on my 'go-to' throwers.
@@BillFromAZ For sure. Ask anything you want. I'm always up to chat. Cheers
How do you battle air bubbles? Even after using a toothpick and popping or moving them I still end up with some on my dye.
You know man, I still get some even after picking them out with paper towel pieces or toothpicks. I just kinda do my best to get them all then fill in the tiny ones later with a bit of the same color dye with a toothpick or a qtip.
That was pretty sick
Thank you. Cheers!
👏😍
Thanks!
Where’s the tape handle?
Hahaha. I guess I didn't go with it this time.
When using your seeding mat, do you use a thermostat? What temp do you set it at?
Hey Arron, I don't use a thermostat. You can definitely get the mats with a temperature control on them. I just got the ones that did have it. I do know if you put a towel over the bed, the bed will definitely heat up a bit more.
@Sarg's Happy Little Discs thanks. I have had success during the hot California Temps. Want to dye a few for some friends but it's cooler right now. So a seeding mat for 24 hours with no real control of the temp. You do some great dyes thanks for the info.
I hear you. Yeah, definitely will have to heat them up a bit during the cold season. A seeding mat works well, I haven't had any issues with them. You could even bring the bed in the house and set on a seeding mat to warm it even more than In a garage. Thanks for the kinda words, we have to do more here soon.
That is one beautiful looking disc👍
Thanks Brett. Appreciate it.
Heat pad will help some
I wish you’d have explained what you’re using. Just saying “some glue” and “some color” explains nothing to people who don’t already know what they’re doing
Huh, good call. It's all standard materials though... Clear glue, pro chemical and dye, idye poly, worm dip. Mix your powder dyes to 1/2 tsp per 2 oz of acetone, worm dip is straight up. Cheers
BTW, ask anything you want and I'll answer it. Open book over here.
Did you use silicone oil on this one?
I did use oil. It was 3 in 1. Just a drop per color.
Dude! Major props for all the responses to the comments! That is dedication. I just learned a ton reading through them all. One more question if you don't mind: what was the machine the pan was sitting on in the beginning, and what does it do? Thanks!
Hahaha, no worries. I'll help where I can. I think you are talking about my turn table. I use it to spin the bed around easily instead of sliding it around on a table.
What type of cloth did you use to get the bubbles out? Do bubbles rise under a heat lamp?
Hey there! The cloth was just your run of the mill paper towel folded up to make it have some strength so it doesn't fold into the bed. I believe the bubbles don't rise under heat, they may... But I haven't noticed it. The ones I'm getting out are on the top layer.
@@SargsHappyLittleDiscs thanks for your time and explanation.
For sure. Cheers
Hey bud what editing software do you use?
What's up brother! I use KineMaster. Just like any editing software, once you get the hang of it, it's pretty seamless. I don't mind it to be honest.
How long to let your discs sit in the lotion? And do you use any type of heating?
This is Floetrol, similar to lotion but much more workable. Anyway, it sits for about 1 hour. You can go longer if you go less heat. I use heat at around 105 give or take.
So beautiful!! Well done sir.
Thank you. I appreciate it. Cheers
Hey Sarge! Love watching your videos man!!! What do you use for the ultra violet light effect?
Thanks! I appreciate it. So I just picked up a UV light off of Amazon. I believe it has 100 LED's. It was very close to right about 10.00.
How long did you let it set for and did you apply heat at all
This sat for 24 hours. I used a seeding mat for heat.
What kind of little dropper bottles do you use? Do they have to be glass?
They are 2 oz dropper bottles from Amazon.
What brand of worm dip do you use
I use quick coat. Just don't get the garlic scented. Quick coat works well.thoigh. I use it quite a bit.
Can you use it on other dye methods like cells
Definitely. Worm dip gives a great depth. I use it all the time.
Thank you last one what’s your mix ratio for worm dip
Hahaha. No worries. No mix ratio at all, I use it straight out of the bottle.
What are you using for your heat
A heat lamp made for reptiles. I temp the surface of the disc when taking the temp.
Looks great. Hard to find the white ones!
Thanks. Yeah, those minis are hard to come by in white. Cheers
another awesome video. you are so good with those glue beds... the best part of the video is the comment that's blue no that's black... blue, black. lol
Hahaha! Thanks Jim! I appreciate it man.
Sicc AF
Thanks brother! Appreciate it. Cheers
I keep hoping I'll hit a ace at Condon and get a sick dye from ya! Great video as always and hope you're doing great! I got no chance at the E pin rn 🤣
Hahahahaha! I love this! There are definitely some gettable pins on that one! Cheers to you!
@@SargsHappyLittleDiscs got a orc for my bday from my brother, a sick pink champion one w the old stamp. such a fun disc like a destroyer but more comfy and easier to rip
Oh for sure! I love an Orc. They are great!
Sweet dye job and awesome info at the end. Star plastic + flotrol bed +1.5h @ 107° = great color saturation. Love it.
Thanks! Cheers!
yes! I have been waiting for you to put out another video. you do an awesome job with the discs and the videos. thank you.
Maaaan, that is really nice of you. Thank you. I appreciate it. Cheers to you!
