I know video is pretty old but the info is still good,if your here and need to replace your bearing buy NSK 73058 bearing way better than the oem you'll get from your dealer
I'm tackling this myself. Mine went out after nearly 70,000 miles on my 05' 1500 Classic. I heard a rumor that the newer bearings are a little more durable, not sure if there is any truth to it or not. I've run Amsoil in this since I got it when it had 13,800 miles. I'm the third owner.
but now days all the shops have kids with no skills working on our scoots , if you hear the bearing , STOP RIDING Now !!!! the bearing puts Metal shavings in Engine
Just wondering if it could be a water pump gear or something because it looks like the bearing you have is on the left side. Any links to repair how to would be greatly appreciated.
yes but mine sound like it was coming from right side me and 3 other people thought it was coming from right side but that bearing some what the left side but it's open to the right side ( check pre filter screen for Metal shavings
most shop will charge 800.00 - 1500.00 $$ to do the job , you can buy all the specially tools and parts and do it your self for 400.00 to 500.00 took me about 10 hours to remove about 3 hours cleaning + install bearing. checking / setting gear lash 10 hours putting bike all back together so about 23 hours labor if never done it before
you can do it without removing it , but got to remove back Engine mount bolt and tilt engine to front , ( note do this slowly and watch hoses and wires as you jack up rear of engine

I am not familiar with where are the bevel gear is, but that bearing looks like a caged ball bearing. Ball bearings cannot tolerate radial loads.
