I bought it because I love the traditional look oppose to the kawa. That's it, personal preference, both great bikes, especially for new riders.
I like the Bolts minimal chrome Urban Bobber classic style of bike, after having a Honda CB750 and keeping its chrome clean....I like this look better.. Vulcan more of hwy cruiser, Bolt would be more fun for a comuter bike!!
Just bought a Vulcan S Café. Ive been riding for 30 years. This bike is awesome. Almost bought a bolt until I say how terrible the instrumentation was, feels like it weighs 1500 pounds and riding position felt weird. Glad I bought the Kawasaki.
I have both bike's and the suspension on the Vulcan S is amazing compare to the stiff Bolt. The Vulcan S handles slow tight turns much better then the Bolt. Having said that, the Bolt makes you feel RAW! I tore into my Bolt the first day I got it, and transformed her into a unique beast. I powder coated my Bolt matte black, fabricated a rear fender, and installed a Vulcan S handlebar(it's so comfortable), among the other changes that I made. If I had to compare the two bikes, the Vulcan S is like a Honda Accord and the Bolt is like a Jeep Wrangler. These two bikes may look similar, but they are two entirely different animal!
The Vulcan 650S is a clear winner for me because of one reason that is easily overlooked: they have the Ergo-Fit feature which allows you to configure the bike according to your height requirements. I'm a tall rider, and I will give my business to Kawasaki because they care about their customers enough to include that feature in their 650S bikes. I already have a Versys 650 and will check out the 650S the next time that I will be near a dealership. P.S. Check out the back position of both riders in the video snap shot above. One of them is ripe for visits to a chiropractor.
Think my Bolt has 49 horsepower. The Vulcan has almost 20 more. The Bolt might have a little more low end torque and a lower geared top (5th for the Both, 6th for the Vulcan), so that's why the Bolt initially pulls away. Like my Bolt C spec for the way it looks and the sound. The Vulcan would have been a more rational choice.
Just how tall are you Mr. Solitude? Just wondering how I will look/feel on the vulcan s at 6' 1" I keep envisioning myself looking like one those twins from the 70's on some bikes. i.pinimg.com/originals/bf/85/f4/bf85f461c80ef95b4fd26f70bf185554.jpg Just kidding...sort of. both of these bikes were in my decision for first bike.. but for a 950cc bike it didnt outperform the 650cc enough for me. similar top speed and torque, vulcan is lighter better mpg, plus the ergo-fit system kicks ass. i can lean the vulcan further than the bolt and i didnt want to only go in straight lines. to top it off the vulcan was cheaper on the sticker and on insurance..
Bolt is 13.5 in the quarter mile and Kawi is 13.2......therefore the quicker rider wins as the bikes are so close.....just keeping it honest. Ride safe whatever you ride.
I've ridden both and I gotta tell you. The bolt is hands down torquier than the Kawasaki. Yes the Bolt has a bigger engine that I feel should have more power but the torque is way low in the power band. Only gripes are the weight and the instrumentation.

I'm super close to you in size and weight. The Vulcan should work because it has a Ninja sports bike engine in it. But being our size I'd get something bigger. I'm currently on a ZX6R
with the bolt less rpm and gear but Vulcan has six speed and a wide rpm range up to 9.5k. Sure low end torque hits at like 2k for bolt it’s more American sounding with the right exhaust but the Vulcan s technically is a better bike more options better transmission but one draw back is it’s chain should be a belt or shaft drive instead

A ZX6R
HELP!
i'm 6'1 300 lbs coming from super sports and want to get something more comfortable. i'm on the fence between a few bikes the Vulcan s, Honda shadow phantom, Honda fury, z800. i have heard sooo many good reviews about the Vulcan s lately. my budget it about 7k or less
i just want to cruise nothing crazy 2 hour rides on country roads tops and the occasional highway. would i be OK with a 2018 shadow or Vulcan s.
i'm worried the Vulcan s and the shadow wont be powerful enough. i have experience on an 08 Vulcan 900, i loved everything about the bike but on the highway it just didn't have enough get up and go. i really love the new shadow phantoms and the Vulcan s, but i want a bike i will be happy with for a few years.
I'm super close to you in size and weight. The Vulcan should work because it has a Ninja sports bike engine in it. But being our size I'd get something bigger. I'm currently on a ZX6R
Here's what I think. Caleb doesn't open the throttle no matter what bike he's on.
650 VS 950? Hardly a fair comparison.
650 Vulcan will smoke the bolt 950
with the bolt less rpm and gear but Vulcan has six speed and a wide rpm range up to 9.5k. Sure low end torque hits at like 2k for bolt it’s more American sounding with the right exhaust but the Vulcan s technically is a better bike more options better transmission but one draw back is it’s chain should be a belt or shaft drive instead
Neighbor has a bolt , i gotta tell ya its a good lookin bike (imho) ... look out sportster
These guys are so baked.
You guys were chased by a UPS truck! WTF?
Sean ur friend cant ride!! In ur own words its not the bike its rider..
Kneel and Bob do scooter reviews
Bubble burster. The Vulcan 650 isn't all that fast. Guys riding big twins will still smoke you. I didn't think my big fat Vulcan 1600 would beat buddies Vulcan 650...but it does...and every time. That's pretty bad because Vulcan 1600 is a pig lol. But they are a cool little bike though. I just figured they would be faster than they are . They should make them with a inline 4 650!
Strange how the guy gets beat no matter which bike he's on. Lol, not a very good comparison... Drivers made all the difference here.
It's nice to know that when you buy a motorcycle from this dealership. It will be used and abused by two idiots before you even take delivery.
It's called a very unprofessional test ride.
Turning left in traffic.......not the best move on a bike. Just saying.
Dude it's a 650 and the 940 or so and it barely beat the Vulcan. #for# the Kawi is one of the best 650 cruiser around.
I own the Bolt and would get rid of it for the Vulcan any day of the week.
The Vulcan has a Ninja 650 sport bike engine. You cant even compare the engines to each other
You're comparing a bike with a cruiser engine to a bike with a sport bike engine. Big difference.
快活的两个人。虽然不懂在说什么。看上去不错的体验。我也很喜欢摩托。没有勇气去考驾照。
i think ctx700 better than vulcans
The Kawasaki wins in every aspect except looks; I’d get the Kawasaki but immediately change some aesthetics
Difficult to add some matching parts because it is no cruiser
