My daughter and I replay Luigis Mansion 3 every Oct. We need more games in the series! The first game was actually what got me to buy the Gamecube as a kid.
One of my favorite aspects of 3 is the pure tension in the story. All the ghosts feel like they're out to get you as opposed to attacking you just because you're there and trying to get them, and King Boo being more so an ever-present threat instead of a mysterious force pulling the strings is very welcome and adds a lot to the character with his whole thing being revenge now that he's been thwarted twice, and actually seeing all the characters in portraits on the game over screen amplifies this so much. Luigi’s Mansion 2: Dark Moon in my opinion had better music but Luigi’s Mansion 3 was so good. The graphics, the cut scenes, the open world vibe. Amazing! And ofc the original game was classic! But Dark Moon was fun.
I always had a theory regarding Luigi's Mansion and the final ghost Vincent Van Gore. His paintbrush I always wondered is the same one that Baby Bowser carries with him in Mario Sunshine. Since Baby Bowser mentions a man in a white coat gave it to him. What if E Gadd gave Baby Bowser the prototype of Vincent's paintbrush?

29:24 Correction, he calls out Mario through out the entire game, when you finally get Mario back, he stops saying Mario since there is now no point in him calling out for Mario anymore, which i think, personally, is a neat detail showing that Luigi doesnt needlessly call out Mario after hes been saved [Though being unable to call Mario out when you felt like it after beating the game is still dearly missed in the back of my mind] I played this game in my childhood, ive always wanted Luigi's Mansion, but since i didnt have the Gamecube, i settled for Dark Moon, and i will proudly say i played the HELL outta that game! XD Edit: TO BE FAIR, i didnt watch the whole way through lol
I will admit when it came to 3 the museum level with the constant thunder and the looming T-Rex skeleton gave me so much anxiety. I knew the SECOND I pulled the curtain back and saw it at the end of the hallway that it was going to be the boss and I was so scared to fight it.
I'm of the opinion that the first game is still the best in the trilogy. Sure, the future games had better mechanics, bigger scale, more characters/cutscenes, etc. But the 2nd and 3rd game lacked something that made Luigis Mansion what it was: Atmosphere. Neither of the sequels had as much of a dark and foreboding atmosphere as the first luigis mansion, and it was amazing as a kid.
I liked how stressful and challenging Dark Moon was at time. Especially Paranormal Chaos. That level had me SO stressed and frustrated, but was so satisfying to complete.
@@msthecommentator2863you mean El Gigante? Yeah that was fun. Strange idea to set the game in Spain especially with Luigi being Italian but it paid off. Ballsy to put so much blood and gore in the game too.
About that "King Boo isn't a surprise" bit in the second review: It's called dramatic Irony. When the audience knows something that the characters don't, it's fun watching them try to make sense of things.
I’m surprised he opened the Dark Moon segment with the music from Paranormal Chaos, but didn’t mention it when he mentioned the game’s music. In my opinion, that particular song perfectly fits with the intensity of the level it’s assigned to.
I wouldn't be surprised if Luigi's Mansion 3 started as a remake of Luigi's Mansion for switch, but it just eventually evolved into it's own game, hence why the real remake was released on 3DS, which was clearly at the end of it's lifespan.
If I’m honest, I like both King Boo designs. The Luigi’s Mansion form is when he’s after Luigi in particular, the regular Boo with crown form is what he does when addressing general foes, and the Sunshine one is a copy created by Bowser Jr.’s brush.
Seriously, though. Luigi's Mansion for the GameCube is still the best in the series. 3 is a very good sequel, 2 is terrible. But the sequel ghosts are too generic. Everything in the original is just perfect. Character designs, music, the mansion, the battles. 10/10. Next Level Games really looked at the original and said "how can we make this worse".
I know this is 3 weeks late from upload, but you can pump the vacuum every 10 boo HP in LM1 to keep them relatively in place. Makes getting the boos less tedious but it never gets brought up as a game mechanic.

My only complaint is it being brutally difficult with just one player (though that’s to be expected from an arcade game) and it not explaining the bomb mechanic well enough. Other than that it was easily the most fun arcade game I’ve ever played.
If you liked the second game, get ready for the remake on the switch
This video was so good, I think I’ll watch it a second time.
I remember when I first played dark moon and got to the ice boss fight, it took me like 10 try’s to hit that final panel, like it was so annoying to do. Than I didn’t even finish the game since the last level was too hard untill 2 years later when I revisited the game.
I literally never died once when i first played it. I was 11 i think
Ah Loogi’s Spookhaus… endless memories of my first video game triumph. Melee & Partio Mario may have been my first intro in games, but Loogi made me love them
Luigi’s Mansion 2: Dark Moon in my opinion had better music but Luigi’s Mansion 3 was so good. The graphics, the cut scenes, the open world vibe. Amazing! And ofc the original game was classic! But Dark Moon was fun.
You can scream Mario’s name in Luigi’s mansion dark moon once you discover mario has been captured by king boo
Nevermind
I always had a theory regarding Luigi's Mansion and the final ghost Vincent Van Gore. His paintbrush I always wondered is the same one that Baby Bowser carries with him in Mario Sunshine. Since Baby Bowser mentions a man in a white coat gave it to him. What if E Gadd gave Baby Bowser the prototype of Vincent's paintbrush?
Considering we suck up said paint brush and it’s in van gore’s painting probably not but I can see egadd being inspired by it
29:25 I could've sworn that you could call out for Mario at one point. Maybe it's once you discover he's been kidnapped.
He does call out Mario once you find out he was kidnapped
18:25
"Except the number 3"
Any who is a fan of valve’s games: **Panicked screaming**
To repeat my hot take from yesterday: Dark Moon is criminally underrated
I feel Dark Moon tried too much. Whereas LM3 was a comfortable return to form. I kinda wish dark moon didn't have a mission system and played more like it's predecessor
@@DirectorOfChaos9292 I'm not sure where I stand. Dark Moon was the first one I played so I have a bit of a soft spot for it. Definitely had one because it was on the 3DS and was designed with short play sessions in mind.
@@DirectorOfChaos9292 You have to realize that it was also on the 3DS, which isn't the strongest system out there. Its structured the way it is for a reason.
@@Irreve-rsible but... The og LM was remade for 3ds. It didnt have a mission structure like Dark Moon. The missions were unnecessary. Keep the multiple mansions but remove the missions
@@DirectorOfChaos9292 True, but that's also a much older game being ported, that also runs on a bad framerate if I am correct. I just think it may have compressed it some if they did such.
I played dark moon a lot as a kid. 4 to 5 playthroughs. I love it. And i think it had something to do with me prefering luigi over mario
only antdude would reupload a compilation of reuploads
Gotta say watching this retrospective gave me a new appreciation for Luigi’s Mansion 3 although Dark Moon will always be my favorite
Potential name for Gooigi Antdude: Antgoode
And now months after this video comes out, the second game in the series, dark moon is getting remastered for switch. Hooray!
luigi's mansion 2 is still my favorite game, I grew up with it ans still remember alot of moments in the game
And 3
@@NickMario1 3 is also pretty good, but now I'm waiting for a remaster of 2 where you cna explore the entire mansions in 1 go.
@@isuckatusernames4297Luckily it is getting a full remaster on the switch next month. Even though sadly I believe it’ll stay mission based. But I also love 2, and am definitely excited to play the entire game this time on my Switch.
29:24 Correction, he calls out Mario through out the entire game, when you finally get Mario back, he stops saying Mario since there is now no point in him calling out for Mario anymore, which i think, personally, is a neat detail showing that Luigi doesnt needlessly call out Mario after hes been saved
[Though being unable to call Mario out when you felt like it after beating the game is still dearly missed in the back of my mind]
I played this game in my childhood, ive always wanted Luigi's Mansion, but since i didnt have the Gamecube, i settled for Dark Moon, and i will proudly say i played the HELL outta that game! XD
Edit: TO BE FAIR, i didnt watch the whole way through lol
Was this to fix that editing mistake where you said a line twice? Or was this to fix that editing mistake where you said a line twice?
Dam, can't believe that the retrospective got a day 1 patch
After he said that "Halloween is finally here" i actually checked the calendar because last halloween was last year after all
I still remember, as a kid, watching a gameplay of the gamecube Luigis mansion and even now I still love it
I feel like in the next game, as you said, they should drop King Boo’s thing for paintings. Instead, they should just make him want Luigi DEAD.
Ahh yes..... a Halloween so good we have to experience it in January.... twice
So nice ya gotta post it twice ❤️
I will admit when it came to 3 the museum level with the constant thunder and the looming T-Rex skeleton gave me so much anxiety. I knew the SECOND I pulled the curtain back and saw it at the end of the hallway that it was going to be the boss and I was so scared to fight it.
Fantastic first game. Good enough sequels. I wish they would make an LM4 that has more of the first game's Vibes
Luigi's Mansion 3 is fantastic too, imo.
It doesn't capture some of the same charm the original does, but it has a lot of its own charm.
I'm of the opinion that the first game is still the best in the trilogy. Sure, the future games had better mechanics, bigger scale, more characters/cutscenes, etc. But the 2nd and 3rd game lacked something that made Luigis Mansion what it was: Atmosphere. Neither of the sequels had as much of a dark and foreboding atmosphere as the first luigis mansion, and it was amazing as a kid.
i need whoever drew the gooigi in the thumbnail to know that they have singlehandedly given me enough serotonin to keep me going for months
I liked how stressful and challenging Dark Moon was at time. Especially Paranormal Chaos. That level had me SO stressed and frustrated, but was so satisfying to complete.
I just finished luigi's Mansion 4. It was amazing.
The part where you had to help Polterpup out of that trap so he could help you with a later boss fight was such a cool addition
@@msthecommentator2863you mean El Gigante? Yeah that was fun. Strange idea to set the game in Spain especially with Luigi being Italian but it paid off. Ballsy to put so much blood and gore in the game too.
For me dark moon was the best luigis mansion game
I just clicked on this video and I already love it
I love how these games help make Luigi his own character, other than a taller, faster, jumpier, clumsier, and greener version of his brother.
Funny to remember that Luigi got his standalone series *after* Yoshi, Wario & Donkey Kong
About that "King Boo isn't a surprise" bit in the second review: It's called dramatic Irony. When the audience knows something that the characters don't, it's fun watching them try to make sense of things.
0:42 just realized I have the same ikea desk he used to have, nice
“Halloween is finally here”
Me watching this in january:
I’m surprised he opened the Dark Moon segment with the music from Paranormal Chaos, but didn’t mention it when he mentioned the game’s music. In my opinion, that particular song perfectly fits with the intensity of the level it’s assigned to.
I wouldn't be surprised if Luigi's Mansion 3 started as a remake of Luigi's Mansion for switch, but it just eventually evolved into it's own game, hence why the real remake was released on 3DS, which was clearly at the end of it's lifespan.
27:17 I love that you don't even have a 3DS cartridge in your system while you're talking about Dark Moon.
Your personality is naturally entertaining for hours!
OMG I love this rhythm heaven Tshirt !!
Can someone tell me the song name at 0:13 please
E gadd’s lab theme
@@SmileyFaceCentral lol thanks
I dang near died laughing and became a ghost in these games when he said that thing about NitroRad being a lesser version of AntDude 😂💀
27:15 that little King Boo jumpscare startled the shit out of me when I first played Dark Moon, however many years ago that was.
Yeah same, pictures moving is always scary
I think its a good idea to stream twice a week, gonna watch it!a good mix of retro stuff and new games is what i like to watch
Halloween 2019 was the only night I DIDN’T go out trick or treating cos I was busy playing Luigi’s Mansion 3.
Next Level Games really looked at the original and said "how can we make this worse".
thank you for the repost I loved it so much first time
This is epic
I know this is 3 weeks late from upload, but you can pump the vacuum every 10 boo HP in LM1 to keep them relatively in place. Makes getting the boos less tedious but it never gets brought up as a game mechanic.
Even though I watched last night, I'm still gonna like, comment, and have it on in the background for the support 😁
37:19 bro even luigi was terrified of the glitched walk's immense power
The luigis mansion arcade game is what got me into loving this series. So fun!
The 3rd instalment is the best, I had so much fun with this game. Luigi is scared but brave :)
