So many requested “ Mutter” I guess for its name but also to find out if I got this weird story … did I ? My translation and analysis at the end . And for those who want to have their own reaction or give a tip; www.buymeacoffee.com/MommaTaunT
At the beginning he sings about old/senior children already having gray hair and building a chain/necklace made of his hair and tears. So basically him in his late 30s or 40s. Gezeugt in Hast und ohne Samen means, Made in haste and without seed. Not hate. What the Eel thing means i never figured out myself as well, maybe its about the water since he has already thrown her into the water at that point and shes drowning? Ive never looked up analysations of their songs. And yes, This is a third version of hast that can mess with people who do not speak german or dont speak it at a high level. Theres not only Du hasst/you hate and Du hast/you have but also Hast=haste. Theres no difference in pronunciation for these, you need to know more of the sentence or see it in written form to understand the context and figure out that way which one is meant.
It is a good thing that you do not understand the "hidden meaning" behind the lyrics, it basically means that you've had a decent/good relationship with your parents and children. Some of us did not have these things, and I believe the song is mainly oriented towards that particular audience. Rammstein's music is truly amazing, thank you for the video!
The song was confirmed by Till Lindemann and Richard Kruspe to be a reference to their unhappy childhood relationships with their own mothers. The lyrics tell the story of a child not born from a womb but in an experiment, thus having no true father or mother. The lyrics describe his plan to kill both the mother “who never gave birth to him” and himself, a plan which he proceeds to carry out. However, he still fails to kill himself, instead ending up mutilated and no better off than before. The child begs, possibly prays, for strength, but his dead mother does not answer. The narrative of the song is similar to “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley, in that the character takes revenge for his misfortunes on his ‘parent’, and then ends up no different from before the ‘parent’ died. The video for Mutter follows the storyline of the song, whereby the character kills his mother and then dumps her body in a river, ending with the character in a cage or dungeon that is set into the ground.
Interesting, I had kind of a complicated relationship to my mother myself. I was by her side when she died and afterwards I heard this song probably for hours on repeat to get out all my anger, frustration and pain over this lost. So yeah, probably I can somehow feel into this song
Very interesting! My thougt or feeling by those lyrics is the message that the human still have their human needs, including the support from a mother, even if a human would be born in an experimental way without a mother and father. You can't simply take the human needs away.
I love my "mutter" and played this for her. Shes 65 years old and love this song. She dont like hard rock, but i think my mother and i will bond till this track, till any of us will leave this world. Mutter, ich liebe dich ❤ Joni, Denmark.
Rammstein is my all-time favorite band and this is my favorite Rammstein song. So thank you for this reaction. The Paris version is even more awesome if you want to see this song performed live.
I can sign that one hundred percent. After this song, Rammstein released a lot of other excellent songs that I listen to again and again, depending on my mood. "Mother" was, is and probably will remain the most emotional for me. I still remember that when I first heard it, it ran cold down my spine, as we say in German. No idea how to formulate it in English.
You're totally right about it being about a test tube baby or clone. It is also about Till's difficult relationship with his own mother, Richard too I believe, and the feeling of being without a mother (or a good mother). It's a love/hate relationship and cutting away toxic people in your life I believe. I LOVE your reactions, especially since you can interpret the German lyrics for us. Reading about the lyrics and translating them on my own is one thing, but having someone who speaks the language discuss them is so much more valuable and informative! I also appreciate your psychology insight on these. Thank you so much!
This song were the one song that I liked the most when I first started to listen to Rammstein and I loved it... then I started to understand more German and understood the words and it's still my favorite to this day.. the lyrics just breaks your heart over and over again..
This song is a great example of Till's amazing poetry. He is not only the frontman and main singer of the band Rammstein, but also a poet who even published some of his works under his own name.
There is no correct way. You, Tom, are certifiably insane if you think there is. There is NOTHING wrong with pausing. Even every 5 seconds, if there is appropriate, meaningful input on a detail of what you're reacting to. If someone is pausing to go off topic and talk about their dog or some other random thing, it's wrong, but still understandable with how UA-cam copyright bots used to work until someone of the big millions of subs folks recently made a big deal out of it with a repeat of "Where's the Fair Use". Furthermore, the way MommaTaunt and a few others do it actually goes far further into breaking that Fair Use clause of the 1997 copyright law section 107 than the way other reaction channels do it. Others cut parts out and do pauses for comments not because they can't wait to give you their thoughts, but because that's in there in the law. And by it, I mean... No fragments longer than a certain small percentage of the original content(show it in small chunks that prove a point in your analysis), not breaching a certain overall percentage of the original content shown in your own video(don't show all of it), and there being at least as much of your analysis/criticism/commentary as there is of the original content(don't let someone else's work do most of the work in your work). That's how things used to be for years. Don't whine about it like a toddler. That's the format everyone is used to and continues to deliver, bending the rules as much as they can and risking a strike to satisfy snobs like you and stop your frivolous, inane, ignorant nagging.
@@LongandWeirdName no need to be this rude . Me not stopping means the creator of the song is monetized, not me . A lot of people stop every 5 seconds so they can can the money … for me , especially as a singer, that’s a no go . I am not monetized and people who want to support me can buy me a coffee. Furthermore … every reactor can have their own MO… this is mine . At our main channel, my son chooses to stop a few times to ask questions . Also there we are not monetized.. although some artists did white list is because they want to share there percentage . But most importantly…my channel is al about respect and mental health and bullying is not excepted . Be nice 😉
@@MommaTaunT I am not aiming my criticism at you or trying to bully Tom, who it is aimed at. Only trying to show how he is being inconsiderate of the history of reaction channels on the platform and the norms it has set. This is not meant to make him feel worse about himself, but to make him realize why people do these reactions the way they do them. In my eyes, he's the one that's rude and uses this comment section to attack many other creators who are just doing the best they can not to get strikes even when they don't monetize their videos. Pardon me, if I was too harsh. I am simply used to far less civilized discourse filled with ad hominems, foul language, and complete disrespect for the other side's points/lack of willingness to hear out and consider the other point of view. Civilized debate is no longer the norm out there and one often has to be as blunt as a brick rounded down by time to lose any sharp edges to get their point through.
Sorry .. but your last sentence of your first comment is totally uncalled for . And to put something like that under a nice comment ment if someone who just was here to make a compliment is so not necessary. No one was asking for that and it says so much about you … and it makes me sad
Bedankt. Your video reaction was again awesome. In this song he is a modern day Frankenstein Monster . It's not clear if he is really lovable. He's always the "aggressive and demanding male" although one feels pity for him. He's dangerous! But it's a great song! There's only one song even more intense: "Puppe" I recommend the "Midjourney music video" from "Anomaliens". Best wishes from Berlin, uz The lyrics are irritating as well : "Die Tränen greiser Kinderschar..." = the tears of an old group of kids. Like (precious) pearls he pulls them on a string, making them into a necklace. But the German word "Kette" means also chain. He switches to the dark side and calls the necklace a "wet chain", throws it away. And switches to the bright side again: the chain is something he can wish upon.
While I edit, a few recommendations: "ohne dich", "Seemann" (the video from the Nina Hagen cover), "jardin de l'arme", Till sings French with Zaz, "alle Tage ist kein Sonntag" Lindemann and David Garrett. Lindemann as the prostitute Algebra in "Mathematik".... no, I skip this one, too much locker room words
I love the emotional look on your face. And yes, that is what this song does to you. They don't just make goooood music. They perform Art. When this song was new, I worked as a sound engineer at the national pop radio station. The DJ played this song in the night. I asked him to play the song again right away. He was just as blown away like me and he did just that. Very unusual. A tribute to the quality of Rammstein.
Rammstein always gives plenty of room for interpretation of all kinds. As a german person, I normally have to think about their lyrics and messages quite a while aswell. Dankeschön für das Video!
One of the most beautiful, haunting songs ever written! Meine Tranen from their new album is like Mutter part 2, and is just as sad. Another great one you would appreciate is Klavier from Live aus Berlin.
Ah, Netherlands... Your pronounciation is almost flawless - I was really shocked to not have my mother tongue ripped apart watching a reaction video until I looked at your channel info 😄
I think Till is hugely inspired by Gottfried Benn, throughout all his work, but also here. Gottfried Benn wrote a poem "Mutter" - but he didn't have a difficult relationship with her, like Till does, Gottfried Benn loved his mother. "Ich trage dich wie eine Wunde / auf meiner Stirn, die sich nicht schließt. / Sie schmerzt nicht immer. Und es fließt / das Herz sich nicht draus tot." The wound on the head, the birthmark on the head, but in Till's version he is prepared to remove that connection, in his version he assumes he might even die. Similar words, opposite meaning. If ever given the chance, I'd love to ask Till about the first encounter with Benn's work. I know the impact that reading "Schöne Jugend" in school had on me ...
I'm also singing for a long time, and I'm studying classical singing music at a musical scholl (also my voice is bariton as well as i t is Till's voice), and yeah, I reaaly love his voice, his singing, his performances, and him as an actor. He is really acting, I agrre with you, that he is a great actor. He makes real and believable the stories he tells and sings.
This entire album is a wall of emotional sound. I have purchased 3 copies: car, house, and Mom's. She loves it too. Seriously it's so good I don't want to walk 10 feet to grab the nearest copy. I must hear Adios and Nebel at once.
I think the "no navel" and "no semen" are only metaphors. I understand it as the child who was conceived "by accident" during a brief sexual encounter by a woman who later neglected or even hated the child only for being born, and who was abusive.
probably you are right but for me it was always also partly relating to the possibility of scientists "making" a designer baby without involvement of a mother or father and what that would do with the child growing up with machines instead of the love of its parents. Another song in that direction would be Ebenbild by Saltatio Mortis
Well, we do have the actual word 'abnabeln', which translates to cutting off the umblical cord, but it doesn't actually refer to the actual act, but to getting away from someone or something you had so far be dependent on.
ohne jede Zweifeln ein von der interessantesten Bands, love the way y introduce to the good music, kisses, kuessen, hab deutsch verlernt, bleib wie du bist
@@MommaTaunT I thank you. ich danke Dir, verzaubernd, hail to You, bin momentan schlecht gelaunt Du hast ein bisschen Freude in mein kaltes Herz gegeben, love, najszczersze podziękowania polish is difficult, the honest thank you, stay strong!
The first sentence actually does make sense, it's just very hard to decode, especially if you're not a natove speaker. "Die Tränen greiser Kinderschar Ich zieh' sie auf ein weißes Haar Werf in die Luft die nasse Kette" means "The tears of the old kids, i put them on a white hair and throw the necklace in the air" I think he's talking about kids who never where allowed to experience childhood. Sometimes people say about kids who had a hard youth that they have an old soul.
As one of those kinds of people (heavy SA in childhood) I found this song to be an open meaning song with those who's childhoods were not what they were meant to be. Mostly towards maternal points, which is open to other listeners to apply their own meaning and injustice towards. Where the concept is based towards two band members talking about their own parental experiences, the lyrics become open to others from the same or other maternal abandonment from whichever perspective. Its a brilliantly written song covering many different means of childhood trauma.
Till brings me to lyrics since a teenager ..i always found poetry boring, but when i hear Till in Rammstein first time i was fascinated, by the speaking of the words like a really realistic actor❤
Hi everyone! I want to share with you with one of my observations. After analyzing the song "Leaving a light on" by the singer Tom Walker, I can say with certainty that not only the chorus, but the song itself is very similar to the song "Mutter" by the band Rammstein. And I also want to add, that the video of these two songs is somehow similar too, though I like the Rammstein video much more, if not in a million times more than Tom Walker's. If you want to check it, you can listen to these two songs and compare them. For comparison, the song "Leave a light on" was released in 2018 and "Mutter" was released in 2002.
Loved your reaction. Your interpretation about a test tube baby was on point. Yes, the weird feeling with Rammstein. Till rarely allows the listener to feel confortable. One way he achieves that, is not allowing to be too sure about the meaning of his texts by beeing inconclusive or changing his direction multiple times. "In ihren Lungen wohnt ein Aal, auf meiner Stirn ein Muttermal"... Sometimes I think he needed a rhyme word for Muttermal. The first word that came in his mind was Aal (Eel) and he kept it. Smirking about the confusion he was causing once again. I’m probably completely wrong but I like that picture. Another interpretation: He wanted to drown his (non-existant) mother in the river. They eat dead animals, so they live in his drowned mother too. I don’t like that picture.
I think you are actually right with both of these aspects. Eels, although beeing liked by many as an edible fish, are also comsidered by many people I know to be somewhat abhorrent due to their diet of carrion and assumingly due to their physical, snakelike form. In fact, as far as I am informed, eels used to be fished by throwing an animal carcass on a line into the water pullong it out again when enough eels had amassed in it. Talking about a gruesome method here. I am pretty sure Till got these connotations in the background here, thinking about the cruel mother he never had, yet is desperately craving for and wants to kill out of bitterness. Finally it could also be put forward, that "mother" does not only stand for an idealised need of protection, but is actually a symbol for his uncaring creators that he so much despises. That way the whole expression of violent fantasies towards "Mutter" makes even more sense. However, I am also convinced that what you said about an ever-smirking Till, who just thrives in making people wonder and leaves them in a state of ambivalence about individual parts of his lyrics absolutely holds true as well...
This song is about a man who never had a mother because he was born from an experiment. The man in the song seeks revenge against the mother that never gave birth to him, while at the same time expressing love for the same mother, exposing the duality in some mother-son relationships in which hate and love exist in parallel to each other.
Fantastic song, I heard it first without the music video accompanying it. So my first association was Matrix, when Neo gets disconnected the first time.
That video was the cause of the nearest Rammstein came to breaking up. You`ll notice no ther band members were in it as they were recovering from a gruelling tour and asked for it to ne postponed. Till went ahead and did it anyway due to pressure from the record company. The video for `Ohne Dich` was Till`s attempt to heal the rift.
"Industrial metal", some says... I don´t know - I just love the band! True artists, as you said - not "just" musicians! Fine reaction by you, thank you!
I would request a good night story. Your voice is lit level calm'n'warm! ...and in order to get me awake the following morning I'd ask for another bed time story -but in dutch!- So I can start the day with an unavoidable happy giggleling
Thats so sweet of you ! I did record a story but didn’t have the right recording settings then . Maybe I should make a new series again . But the story is perfect for bedtime ! Enjoy 😊 ua-cam.com/video/KVRK9JLALxA/v-deo.html
@@MommaTaunT Sorry for the slow response, I went to watch the other video and fell asleep for some reason. ;-) q:"Maybe I should make a new series again" [l.2] I would watch it ;-) Im sure, my kids would sleep better, if someone with a voice like yours read them the bed time stories. Im struggling especially when it comes to classic German fairytales, however those became considered suiting as bed time stories, they are most times actually fitting far better to the genre of Horror. "So, two children behing left to die in the forrest, before being nearly cooked and eaten and then murdering an old woman." "..." "Sleep well!"
Halfway through the video you looked like you were about to vomit. Imagine if you understood the lyrics. It's a song that makes me, the son of an abusive mother break down every time I hear it. It's about someone who feels worthless because he was deprived of the love of a mother. After all, you can't be worth shit if even your own mother despises you. Welcome to my life. This song is most beautifully done and the lyrics are pretty much the most poetic you can get out of the German language. But it is also deeply disturbing.
Background: At the time the song was written, in-vitro-fertalization started and was a controversial topic especially with Christians not just because the natural act is left out, also semen and egg cell can be chosen, maybe manipulated, leaving "too much" power in the process of creating life to humans, where religious people get blasphemy vibes and "scientists playing god" vibes. Also it was/is possible to fertilize an egg cell with another egg cell. Pure blasphemy in the eyes of the church, a woman having a baby with woman or even with herself (clone). The discussion of possibilities and the demystifying of the whole reproductional process lead to other questions like: HOW LONG UNTIL A HUMAN WOMB IS NOT NEEDED ANYMORE? This i exactly the question/scenario Rammsteins Mutter plays in. The kids on the wet chain that sounds a lot like DNA / RNA itself. Despite all possibilities the human needs love and parents, esp. a mother. Members of Rammstein have spoken out to processed their own experiences with a not much careing/loving mother into the song. It is a really deep, highly scientific, religious, psychiatric, ethical question/topic/scenario and it's still actual and will be further down the time line when we talk about an Arche or colonization of outer galaxies, AI and AI mothers simulating affection and love.
The first line is: "Die Tränen greiser Kinderschar, ich zieh Sie auf ein weißes Haar" That already includes a lot of meanings. Keyword is "greis". Translated it would mean: "The tears of extrem old children I pull them on a white hair." The whole song is about the horrors of human cloning and experiments.
Thanks for the review. One of my favorite songs. To me it doesn't seem like a song about artificial human, I see in this song a soul of child, kept in limbo, soul of a child that was never born because it was aborted. This child never had name, never had mothers milk. Millions of kids die like that, and then both mother and child lose each other forever.
@Robert Stallard when embryo is implanted to surrogate mother, it is doesn't need an umbilical cord yet. But later weeks of pregnancy it is still connected with mother's blood system via umbilical cord. There is no way development of any baby, even cloned, can be without this system, yet.
I'm from Austria and some kind of native german speaker, altough the Austrian germen is a little bit softer than the german german. You wäre the first one, Not german Sperling one, that pronounces the Band Name correctly. I even couldn't say that you are Dutch. It was perfect pronouncuation of all the german words! Although I Listen to metal, I never listetened to Rammstein and your analysis was delighting for me.
In the text written by Till Lindemann, the situation of a motherless person is described. Who cries out for an identity and - as a paradox - wants to take revenge on his mother because she was never there for him.
I have to correct your translation. "Made in haste and without sperm". In haste, not in hate. "In haste" is in german "in Hast" and has nothing to do with hate. It is an older german word for doing something without taking the time to do it properly. Usually one says "in Eile", but "in Hast" means the same. It is only an older word which isn't used that often anymore. And it has nothing to do with "(Du) hast" (you have"). the "hast" in Du hast is always without a capital letter (exept if it starts the sentence), but "in Hast" (in haste) has always the "H" as a capital letter at the beginning, even during a sentence. That is how one can tell the difference, and of course depending on the context, because hast (have) can have a capital letter in the beginning if it starts as the first word of a question like: Hast Du Deine Aufgabe erledigt? (Have you finished your task?) f.e. That was a little excursion into german if anyone is interested in learning it.😀
@@MommaTaunT You are right. We can't correct it :-( That means, there is only one possible solution. You need to delete the Video, then we have to wait untill you forgot everything about this video -even that you've ever watched it- to react to it again.

This is the story of Frankenstein (a fictional character who needs no introduction and who practically cloned a human being, hence the references to the lack of sperm, etc.). Many people say that the text refers to Till and Richard's difficult relationships with their mothers, while this is true with Richard, Till has always had a very good relationship with his mother, and besides, there would be no reason to describe it so much. drastically). Sorry for the mistakes, I don't speak English and I use a translator.
Your translation was (wordly) very good! I guess the meaning comes from the figure of speech. I always interpreteded it as a curse of a "clone" created unnaturally without a real mother, towards the people who created him.
i saw that video too ... but i think its a fake. too many cuts ... the children dont sing a single line of the song without a cut in the video ... FAKE !!!! :) Edit: ... and i cant find that video on youtube anymore ...
Rammstein uses lots of symbols and paraphrases so i.e. 'wet chain' describes the cord. Best you can do with Rammstein lyrics is to let them build up pictures in your mind and you'll get close to the meanings of their lyrics.
Not speaking German myself at all, the lyrics at least to me seem to be trolling a story of an unborn child… whose mother is being murdered/suicide? The noose being the umbilical cord, no belly bottom… no feeding etc… am I way off base?
I would have liked you to choose the Life in Paris version. Much more intense. The "nasse Kette" probably stands for DNA. "Gezeugt in Hast und ohne Namen" means "created in a rush and without a name".
@@miamiking8385 And in english, the (white) pearls on a wet necklace also means sperm - on a woman's neck, but here it's "thrown into the air", wasted, not where it's "supposed" to be naturally.
This song accuses modern medical techniques, especially that cloning thing. Not cloning sheep, but humans. BUT ! One day the cloned human realizes what exactly he is . . and he doesn't like being this 'thing'. No nipples to lick (🙂) or drink milk from, no place to hide (in mother's arms of wherever), his birth the answer to the question 'can this really work' - like Oppenheimer once said 'we never asked ourselves if we should do . . . only if we can'. This clone hates himself for what he is and rather chooses death than live a life he never will love sad thing . . . if you're able to read between the lines if you're listening to Rammstein you need to be prepared for everything. Just try "Dicke Titten" (WITH english subtitles !) and now have the hell of a nice day, Baron, PEP Cars V 8 U.S. car club, Frankfurt Germany
The song is about a human who was artificially made in a laboratory as an experiment. He´s human but he has no soul because he never got the expirience a motherly love. Look at it as a warning to mess around with DNA and genetic experiments.
For a long time (not understanding any of the lyrics) I believed this song was about abortion based on the symbolism in the video and him saying mutter a lot (which was obviously mother, I could tell immediately without reading the translation). After seeing the english translation, I now believe it is about immaculate conception. He seems to be talking about never having a mother not even at birth, even mentions having no navel which is basically referring to having no belly button. If you have no belly button, you were not born by natural means. Either way I think this is probably one of the most powerful songs I have ever heard. The way he is shouting mutter at the end just hits so hard.
You may recall the media coverage of the first ever clone sheep "Dolly" and since this song came out after that, i also think, that he is imagining what it must feel like if you are a cloned human without an actual mother. This is an unusual perspective, which again is a common thing in Rammstein lyrics. Muttermal as german for birthmark would actually be mothersmark, which he wants to remove at all costs. To my best knowledge there is no special name for Rammstein fans, but it is interesting, that people these days start thinking about those lyrics and actually getting into the band, while 20 years ago many were revolted by the perceived harshness and the visuals.
So many requested “ Mutter” I guess for its name but also to find out if I got this weird story … did I ? My translation and analysis at the end .

I will look at that one myself so I can take a new song next time
At the beginning he sings about old/senior children already having gray hair and building a chain/necklace made of his hair and tears.
Dust to dust 😉
your pronunciation in German is very good!😉
It's really difficult to translate poetry. Till Lindemann is a really great poet.
He is !
True!
I would disagree to the frist part only on the basis great poetry can be easy translated no matter the languages and great he is that
In our culture we assume that there is a mother. AND she's loving. We accept that mother=love. This is a song to those who has to do without🙏

LG
Till Lindemann is a poet, in case some of you may not be aware of. Till's father Werner, well-known East German writer of children's.
Mutter, ich liebe dich ❤
Joni, Denmark.
Yet all of this is far from the true reason of till to sing or write this song
Rammstein is my all-time favorite band and this is my favorite Rammstein song. So thank you for this reaction. The Paris version is even more awesome if you want to see this song performed live.
I will look at it right now … and thank you 🥰
I can sign that one hundred percent.
☺️
Also look up Daveinitely , he's a German, explains R+ in English
sehr schön
Rammstein's version of Frankenstein's monster with a riff that brings tears to your eyes...
Richard wrote it as a wedding song
This song were the one song that I liked the most when I first started to listen to Rammstein and I loved it... then I started to understand more German and understood the words and it's still my favorite to this day.. the lyrics just breaks your heart over and over again..
I love mutter, and the version Live in Paris ❤❤❤ the clamor of the audience joined in "Mutter!" gives chills
I will look at that myself now …. Look for ward to it 😉
This song is a great example of Till's amazing poetry. He is not only the frontman and main singer of the band Rammstein, but also a poet who even published some of his works under his own name.
She listen through without pause. Approved! Subbed. (So few reactors do this correct)
Thank you ☺️
There is no correct way.
I also like "Seemann" and "Rosenrot" both older Songs but great. Oh and the "Seemann" - Cover from Apocalytica feat. Nina Hagen.
Danke☺️
Best wishes from Berlin, uz
The lyrics are irritating as well : "Die Tränen greiser Kinderschar..." = the tears of an old group of kids.
So great reaction with your translation and true emotions.

Fun fact: This song has become quite popular for childrens choirs in Russia. There are several videos on YT.
One of the most beautiful, haunting songs ever written! Meine Tranen from their new album is like Mutter part 2, and is just as sad. Another great one you would appreciate is Klavier from Live aus Berlin.

Mother: Describes the situation of a clone crying out for an identity. Motherless.😢👌🤘💥👍👊
Interpreting Till's texts is a difficult task. he is a great lyricist and poet. his lyrics intentionally leave a lot of room for interpretation
It does , indeed
I think Till is hugely inspired by Gottfried Benn, throughout all his work, but also here. Gottfried Benn wrote a poem "Mutter" - but he didn't have a difficult relationship with her, like Till does, Gottfried Benn loved his mother. "Ich trage dich wie eine Wunde / auf meiner Stirn, die sich nicht schließt. / Sie schmerzt nicht immer. Und es fließt / das Herz sich nicht draus tot."
The wound on the head, the birthmark on the head, but in Till's version he is prepared to remove that connection, in his version he assumes he might even die. Similar words, opposite meaning.
If ever given the chance, I'd love to ask Till about the first encounter with Benn's work. I know the impact that reading "Schöne Jugend" in school had on me ...
glad i am not the only one who read Gottfried Benn, I didn't even have to... did not read it in school, just because i liked it.
The live version in Paris hits the song to another level!
True, "no navel" could be interpreted as "no connection" and not thinking of him as her son.
probably you are right but for me it was always also partly relating to the possibility of scientists "making" a designer baby without involvement of a mother or father and what that would do with the child growing up with machines instead of the love of its parents. Another song in that direction would be Ebenbild by Saltatio Mortis
Well, we do have the actual word 'abnabeln', which translates to cutting off the umblical cord, but it doesn't actually refer to the actual act, but to getting away from someone or something you had so far be dependent on.
This song is about cloning. How does a human sentient child feel growing inside a machine.
Rammstein are a phenomenal band and my favourite song is Reise, Reise .

It's about how a test tube baby would feel...without a mother, without allowance and without love.
😢
Without sperm? I mean, that's not a human.
That’s the whole point of discussion
It's about Germany. Mother is an allegory for Germany during and after WW2
Test tube babies have mothers. It just means her egg is fertilised “in vitrio”, in a test tube and then implanted back in Mum’s womb.
The first sentence actually does make sense, it's just very hard to decode, especially if you're not a natove speaker.
"Die Tränen greiser Kinderschar
Ich zieh' sie auf ein weißes Haar
Werf in die Luft die nasse Kette"
means
"The tears of the old kids,
i put them on a white hair
and throw the necklace in the air"
I think he's talking about kids who never where allowed to experience childhood.
Sometimes people say about kids who had a hard youth that they have an old soul.
As one of those kinds of people (heavy SA in childhood)
I found this song to be an open meaning song with those who's childhoods were not what they were meant to be.
The song was written in the time, they cloned the sheep "Dolly". So the song is about cloning children

Excellent German pronunciation.
Thank you ☺️
This song is about a man who never had a mother because he was born from an experiment. The man in the song seeks revenge against the mother that never gave birth to him, while at the same time expressing love for the same mother, exposing the duality in some mother-son relationships in which hate and love exist in parallel to each other.
It's worth to lern German language, just to understand this song. It's that good.

Im sure, my kids would sleep better, if someone with a voice like yours read them the bed time stories.
Im struggling especially when it comes to classic German fairytales,
however those became considered suiting as bed time stories, they are most times actually fitting far better to the genre of Horror.

Le canzoni di Till sono pura poesia..❤❤❤
Halfway through the video you looked like you were about to vomit. Imagine if you understood the lyrics. It's a song that makes me, the son of an abusive mother break down every time I hear it. It's about someone who feels worthless because he was deprived of the love of a mother. After all, you can't be worth shit if even your own mother despises you. Welcome to my life. This song is most beautifully done and the lyrics are pretty much the most poetic you can get out of the German language. But it is also deeply disturbing.
A mother can be shit.
You have explained that so well.
It sounds so sweet how you pronounce Rammstein 😊
Thank you
Background: At the time the song was written, in-vitro-fertalization started and was a controversial topic especially with Christians not just because the natural act is left out, also semen and egg cell can be chosen, maybe manipulated, leaving "too much" power in the process of creating life to humans, where religious people get blasphemy vibes and "scientists playing god" vibes. Also it was/is possible to fertilize an egg cell with another egg cell. Pure blasphemy in the eyes of the church, a woman having a baby with woman or even with herself (clone). The discussion of possibilities and the demystifying of the whole reproductional process lead to other questions like:
HOW LONG UNTIL A HUMAN WOMB IS NOT NEEDED ANYMORE?
This i exactly the question/scenario Rammsteins Mutter plays in. The kids on the wet chain that sounds a lot like DNA / RNA itself. Despite all possibilities the human needs love and parents, esp. a mother. Members of Rammstein have spoken out to processed their own experiences with a not much careing/loving mother into the song. It is a really deep, highly scientific, religious, psychiatric, ethical question/topic/scenario and it's still actual and will be further down the time line when we talk about an Arche or colonization of outer galaxies, AI and AI mothers simulating affection and love.
Momma already in shock after 1 minute of video, yes that's Rammstein 😅
The first line is:
"Die Tränen greiser Kinderschar, ich zieh Sie auf ein weißes Haar"
That already includes a lot of meanings. Keyword is "greis". Translated it would mean:
"The tears of extrem old children I pull them on a white hair."
The whole song is about the horrors of human cloning and experiments.
Very strong lied! Thenx fo reaction!
@Robert Stallard do you think that clone animals (and humans) do not have navels?
@Robert Stallard when embryo is implanted to surrogate mother, it is doesn't need an umbilical cord yet. But later weeks of pregnancy it is still connected with mother's blood system via umbilical cord. There is no way development of any baby, even cloned, can be without this system, yet.
One of the strongest songs in the history of mankind!
Your pronounciation in germen is flawless!

Thank you so much!! That means a lot to me🥰
Small correction on the translation, it's "conceived in haste", not "made in hate" :)
Many people told me … my bad .. but I can’t correct it 😉
In the text written by Till Lindemann, the situation of a motherless person is described. Who cries out for an identity and - as a paradox - wants to take revenge on his mother because she was never there for him.
Yes ❤
That is how one can tell the difference, and of course depending on the context, because hast (have) can have a capital letter in the beginning if it starts as the first word of a question like:
Hast Du Deine Aufgabe erledigt? (Have you finished your task?) f.e.
That was a little excursion into german if anyone is interested in learning it.😀
Thank you .. but off course that was already brought to me in the comments . But I can’t correct it 😉
@@MommaTaunT You are right.

That is a good question... what _are_ Rammstein fans called? Rammstans?

soon this song's name will be 'parent 2'
the passage you can't translate is very illustrating, i would translate it with "i wished for the tears of the lost children.
To my best knowledge there is no special name for Rammstein fans, but it is interesting, that people these days start thinking about those lyrics and actually getting into the band, while 20 years ago many were revolted by the perceived harshness and the visuals.
i think they just call them rammsteiners
its MOTHER! so meaningful, how can you not realize this???
