From my memory, it's actually an open ended statement about maternal trauma, it's intentionally left open for others to place their own feelings and possibly their own maternal trauma upon. Rammstein do this a lot with their lyrics leaving them open to multiple understandings based on the listeners point of view.
Great reaction, many thanks for your openness. I'm an old German guy and although Rammstein exists for 30 years now I did not take much notice of them until 3 years ago. I saw an American (!) react to "Du hast" and liked the song and wanted to give them a try and heard song after song, because every single song was great, musically. Topics and lyrics are sometimes weird or dark but there is a reason for it. They are all the same six guys from day 1 and 5 of them are the nicest humans you can think of, Til (the lead singer and the guy in the video) is a special story. He seems strong and fearless from the outside but he was not well treated by his mother and has indeed a soft but somehow extreme personality by what I mean that he has no problem to address and express taboo topics or ideas or words. He is an artist, a poetrist and those artists sometimes go too far. Since the beginning of Rammstein they were accsued in Germany of being Neo Nazis (extreme right) but that's total nonsense and untrue. People whosaid that even never listened to Rammstein songs. They just saw they are big, they are powerful, they are loud, that was enough to accuse them. In fact their message is tolerance and fun and good music and words to think about. It's so hard to recommend a few songs because there are so many masterpieces. Some suggestions: "Zeit" (= time, official video), "Du riechst so gut" (yiu smell so well, live 2016), "Adieu" (good bye, official video), "Wollt Ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen?" (you want to see the bed in flames?, live Paris), "Engel" (angel, live Madison Square garden), "Klavier" (piano, live Berlin 1998), "Mein Herz brennt, piano version (my heart is burning, official video), "Ich will" (I want, live 2016), "Sehnsucht" (longing, desire, Moscow 2019 multicam version), "Rammlied" (Ramm song, live Madison square garden), "Ohne dich" (without you, official video).
You described that beautifully. Many in Germany simply don't want to understand that they are great artists. Somehow the German envy gene is expressed here
Great reaction😊👍.. you will like the songs, "Zeit" and "Angst" both official videos, i recommend auto-subtitles on, because of deep lyrics. Best wishes 🎶😊🙋🏼♂️
She doesn't even seem smart enough to introduce a foreign language band properly, plus you don't know if she really knows what the band is singing because you can't see her reading!
I have purchased three copies of this album. One for my house, one for my car, and yes. Eine fur meine mutter. I feel bad for people who never got to rock out with their mom. She raised me, we raise hell.
Mutter has some of the best songs on it. Two other good songs to react to from the album is Spieluhr, and Adios, first listen to it then read the translations. I feel that Spieluhr goes very well with the meaning of Mutter.
1:20 Love all the things you say here. I spent far too long in one genre in my life. At some point I met a father-like person who just loved music and opened so many doors for me. There is sooo much good music out there. In almost every genre. Don't limit yourself. You should just listen to and like what you feel.
Excellent job! I loved to see your reaction to "Seemann" from Rammstein, The Cover-Version of Apocalyptica ft. Nina Hagen. She's an Opera-trained singer from Germany, also labeled as the "Godmother of Punk". She has performed in various genres, maybe she's "right down your alley". Her biggest banger is "So Bad".
Lyrics in English. No word by word translation but more free, keeping meaning and impact: The tears of aged children, frail, I string them on a silver hair, Toss the dampened chain in air, And wish that I had a mother's care. No sun to warm me with its glow, No breast has wept for milk to flow, A tube is all my throat can know, No navel where my belly shows. [Chorus] Mother, mother (Mother, mother) Mother, mother (Mother, mother) [Verse 2] I never tasted nipples' heat, No folds to hide, no soft retreat, No one gave me a name to keep, Conceived in haste, no seed was steeped. To the mother who never bore me, I swore an oath this night before me, I’ll give her sickness as my part, And drown her body in the dark. [Chorus] Mother, mother (Mother, mother) Mother, mother (Mother, mother) Mother, mother (Mother, mother) Mother, mother (Mother, mother) [Hook] An eel inside her lungs will lie, Upon my brow, a birthmark cries. I’ll kiss it off with a blade so cold, Even if I die, brave and bold. [Bridge] Mother, mother Mother, mother! [Hook] An eel inside her lungs will lie, Upon my brow, a birthmark cries. I’ll kiss it off with a blade so cold, Even if I bleed, brave and bold. [Outro] Mother, oh give me strength, Mother, mother, Oh give me strength, Mother, mother, Oh give me strength, Mother, mother, Oh give me strength.
the first time I saw Rammstein it was on tv during a New Years concert, and as a kid I thought they were just German guys making noise, being funny, its odd how emotional they made me as I was growing up, and now as an adult, I feel I totally get them
*The real story: in 1943 a german sniper got a new target , he was positioned in a high spot behind the target , a woman which was a double agent, he took the shot, the woman collapsed in blood, very soon he found out she was his own mother. He gone crazy, he gone on a revenge rampage and shot 38 soldiers and his commander. They caught him alive and put him in a dark cell were he comitted suicide soon after.*
One hundred percent on the doing what you want to do. If say you only liked and reacted to r&b, you would run out of songs you haven't heard very quickly. I would never be able to do a channel like this because I branched out very early in life listening to all different types of music. And hey, worst part you don't like what you listened to and won't listen to it again. Best case, you hear something that hits a little different and opens you up to whole new world. Music in general really is a universal language.
i love how you are getting more into metal and such, its interesting to hear your thoughts and reactions, i would recommend make me famous by kim dracula, or pretty much anything by kim dracula, but on mutter i appreciate how much melodic moments are in this song, its such a beautiful song
Welcome to the family. I could reccomend so many songs the quantity would render the concept meaningless. However, try "Swatting At Flies" by Flotasm and Jetsam. Speaks to the point, as it were.
If you wish to react to an artist that is involved with Rammstein, I would say the artist Aesthetic Perfection with the song Monochrome. There is now a lyric video
Hi Ashley. It's a shame to explain why you play the music you do on your channel. I'm with you on listening to an eclectic array of music. I don't understand a single word of the Portuguese language. That doesn't stop me from listening to Sergio Mendes' "Voce Abuso". Which is entirely in the Portuguese language. Keep doing what you do, Ashley. I'm impressed that you can tell us what the lyrics of this song are about.
Please 🙏 react to the following 2 songs by Rammstein(both have Englisch subtitles) Zeit ua-cam.com/video/VFSEi_oLlsg/v-deo.htmlsi=DBlstLTdVEtA3Io2 Asche zu Asche ua-cam.com/video/-vdFzNLdMSE/v-deo.htmlsi=fa9cItuVjWXtMiam Thank you
The song is more or less about a child that was put up for adoption because it was born defective. Living life in this cage not knowing who or what he is or even where he comes from.
I would like to recommend an another great German metal band, completely different from Rammstein. React to Electric Callboy's "We Got the Moves", please!
Ashley this is your channel, which I love your reactions because of your love of different genres of music. Please check an amazing singer Glennis Grace from the Netherlands who does Whitney tributes. Checkout her video that has 10 million views. Ladies of Soul Glennis Grace Run To You
Is it REALLY that hard to pronounce the Name of a foreign language band when you come from the United States? Not fucking Rammshine RammsTein! Use your Ears and repeat what you hear!
I believe it is about a child "made" in a laboratory growing up without the love of a family and what it does to his psyche. Great reaction!
Right!
no actually its about all the band members difficult relationships with their moms
From my memory, it's actually an open ended statement about maternal trauma, it's intentionally left open for others to place their own feelings and possibly their own maternal trauma upon.

I’m sure it’s about the sheep dolly that was cloned.
@@brynedwards. not all, only Till and Richard
I know each song Rammstein ever made, but this one gives me goose bumbs all the time i hear that.

A German not taking notice of the beauty of rammstein is sacrilegious!
Alter Du hast ,,DEUTSCHLAND" vergessen. Das wohl grösste Meisterwerk.
He is very loved by his mother. She has now even written a book in which she declares her love for her son. He loves her very much too.
Way to go girl !! Don't let anybody tell you what you should and shouldn't like !!!
So good to see you enjoying Rammstein! Fantastic reaction :)

these old rammstein pieces are trips .. right on .
Rammstein - Mein Teil
I’m pretty sure this song is about the sheep Dolly, that was cloned in the middle of 90s.
Good Reaction! 👍
Your next Rammstein reaction needs to be Deutschland. Both the song and video are EPIC. 😎😎😎😎😎
Можно сразу заказывать ей песню без видео, она всё равно его не смотрит 😂

Umuhle Ashley
Correctly pronunciation is like "RUMM***" NOT "RAMM***"... got it ?
The song is more or less about a child that was put up for adoption because it was born defective. Living life in this cage not knowing who or what he is or even where he comes from.
MUter no?mother mUter

Is it REALLY that hard to pronounce the Name of a foreign language band when you come from the United States? Not fucking Rammshine RammsTein! Use your Ears and repeat what you hear!
You’re not educating on pronunciation, you’re just spelling but it’s “raamshtine”
