- By somewhat popular demand, I made up the parts from Triple Takeover, this time involving Astrotrain and his Astroforce-quickly-turned-to Astrofarce =P
I always found it funny that Astrotrain just tore out the computer controls and pretty much just shoved them into the engines (did anyone notice that they disappeared a second before he picked them up? XD)

This got me to see Astrotrain as a lonely robot; talking to his trains is like a friendless child talking to his dolls around the teaparty table.
Great analogy he comes more like you mentioned. While Blitzwing comes more confident leader in the episode. For a while blitzwings zone defense and long bombs had messed up the autobots pretty bad more than starscreams plans/megatrons if astro train wasn't so focused on his trains and worked with blitzwing and not cheat devestator they could have taken megatrons leadership from him in some way
I read this right as he said "who needs you spineless plasm heads anyway" that makes me really sad for the poor dude. I'm pretty sure he would have been fair to the humans if they had joined his army. He may have been a decepticon but he still needed some friends
That's...pretty acurrate to his toy bios and the show. Once the Decepticons used him to travel to an alien equivalent of Las Vegas and they had pushed him so hard to get there he had to be recharged and refueled while they went out and had fun without him.

@@TheSmart-CasualGamer It's a funny skit and concept but realistically this is a cybertronian they speak cybertronian or English. Train is not an official language that telatraan one would rebuild them with so how would he know unless he programmed his own specific language into the brains.

Predictably, shoving some mid-'80s circuit boards haphazardly into a train engine does not produce terribly effective AI. I'm impressed Astrotrain got the things to move on command, frankly.

At least Starscream did better building a legion of warriors in Bruticus' origin arc by stealing five Energon cubes from a Cybertron detention center, blowing up the other cabinets in the vault just before escaping back to Earth (either by space bridge or normal flight just-like-in-Season-1's-Countdown-To-Extinction), and installing them in the rusted shells of five abandoned military vehicles he found in the Guadalcanal junkyard to remake them into modern vehicles that would later combine into Bruticus.

Blastoff: B-17 Flying Fortress bomber/Space Shuttle
Vortex: F4U Corsair/Sea Sprite helicopter
Swindle: Willy's MB Jeep (cartoon)/Dune buggy (toy)
Brawl: M4 Sherman/Rheinmetall Leopard
Shockwave: Artillery Tank/Laser Pistol (GI Joe WW2 crossover)

This scene is funny. Astro train is my favorite deception. He transforms into two vehicles that I like, a steam engine train and a space shuttle. I also likes the way his voice sounds. I like the name too. It makes me think about the Houston Astros.

Blitzwing is my favorite. He doesnt have blind loyalty to megatron and he actually respects optimus to a degree. Also tanks and jets are the manliest things in existence.

This is my favorite episode next to "Starscream's Brigade and The Revenge of Bruticus.

Thunderscreamer The Coneheads are very ugly...The original Seekers (Starscream,Thundercracker and Skywarp)have better designs.
The coneheads are like the sweeps or stormtroopers
Transformers can alter their mass. Megatron can become small enough in his gun form to fit into the hands of another decepticon and Soundwave can become small enough in his recorder form to fit into Spike's pocket, so Astrotrain must get bigger when he transports the decepticons. In the movie, he's big enough in his space shuttle form that the Constructicons can form Devastator inside him.
YouthFreedomFighters Hoist can drive Huffer. Ironhide and Powerglide can fit inside Ratchet's ambulance mode.

It would have been a great opportunity here to introduce a new Decepticon combiner team of trains. It could have kinda been like the Combaticons creation in ''Starscream's Brigade".
But instead of having to use the space bridge like Starscream did, Astrotrain could have flown to Cybertron himself to either steal personality components or bring the "soldiers of the Astrotrain Empire" to Vector Sigma to give them life.

Astrotrain just took random machinery that he had ripped out of a computer and jammed it into the trains' engines to serve as their brains.
Is it really any surprise his "Astroforce" was awful when they literally had scrap for brains?
If there is a cooler robot concept than Astrotrain I have never heard of it.
Now you know, Astrotrain, how Starscream feels! As Megatron would say: "You couldn't even lead the antroids to a picnic, how can you pretend to lead the Decepticons?"
You can even see that the other Decepticons don't like Astrotrain that much...
They all think he's an idiot. Despite the fact some of them would rather be led by Starscream than Megatron.
Astro train does at least show that he believes in his troop and positive reinforcement

Makes me wonder. What if Astrotrain had used his own brain, somehow took these trains over to Cybertron and then used Vector Sigma? An actual Astroforce commanded by Astrotrain. We had the Constructicons, Combaticons, Stunticons, Predacons…why not some form of Railicons?

Canadian dub? Not sure. All I know is that they reside in Japan, hence their Japanese names, and they all transform into one connected train that doesn't run on rails. Once again, physics in the g1 series is nonexistent.
They're in the continuing Headmasters cartoon after Transformers ended in US.
Correct, they could fly and transport Autobots and humans. They could and did deliver Autobots right into battle.

Astrotrain was the most productive and innovative. Yeah Blitzwing trashed a few Autobots, but eventually you need energon to fuel the cause. That giant maze was a waste of time for the Constructicons, resources and energon. Astrotrain displayed some technical savy, created a train force, and actually acquired energon! This is me now as a grown-up talking. LoL As a 5th grader watching I was all for Blitzwing!! :D
Tsk. Tsk. Poor Astro, he didn't do as good as Blitzwing did in this episode. But he still remains my favorite. :D

Maybe he would do the same to humans? It looked like he really needed friends, even other cons treated him like trash and he wasn't even mean to them like Starscream. Kinda sad. :(

Astrotrain never got any respect. Poor guy🙁 Blitzwing didn’t really either. As cool as the toys were...they weren’t featured too prominently on the show. They were just kind of there...like Thundercracker and Skywarp. Kind of makes you wonder why they they didn’t split from the Decepticons and form their own faction.

As a hardcore Thomas and Friends fanboy growing up, this part of the episode was a fever dream.
One reason Astrotrain's empire did not last long was lack of support due to the popularity of trains in the United States being relegated to a niche audience. If he established his empire's HQ in Japan, it would have prospered longer due to more widespread popularity.

Astrotrain had one of the best voices compared to starscream, optimus and soundwave.
I love how starscream was able to make the combaticons so easily yet astrotrain can't make actual transforming troops at all

If Toei Doga does. Astrotrain might be matching the actual D51 train. the crew already has expreince with anime with steam trains before particularly Galaxy Express 999.
