Always like your honest comments, bought my GG Silver back 10 months ago and absolutely love it. My brother in law has top of the line brand x and when he saw mine and found out what I paid he just shook his head and said “man I was taken for a ride”! And this is a guy That if I had something his was better finally won one!
I have had mine two years now. Doing the same cleaning he is and looks the same. Everything is holding up wonderfully. Love the WiFi feature too. Happy with this being my first smoker and pellet grill purchase. I got the A/T base and love it for wheeling to the backyard to smoke. No worries about tipping over. I liked there cooking tools so much, I bought some for my son to use for smoking as well. They also have great customer service. I had a few issues and they came back immediately with answers.
Thank you for the video. I know this was five years ago but I just order my silverbac and wanted an honest review and that's exactly what you delivered. I do know the company started outsourcing development over seas to cuts cost a little but from what I've read they're still very well made. Hope that my grill holds up just as yours did.
I’m looking for a first time pellet grill and the Grilla Silverbac is one of my top choices. I hope the build quality is as good as this one after years of service. Wondering if you still use it in 2023.
Good job, good review, at a sub $1000.00 price point the grill is almost a disposable item so it is fantastic to see it has faired so well over 2 years, I can't tell you how many gas grills that cost almost twice as much that I have gone through over the years.
I ran a Grilla Grills SB for many years... I had a controller and themometer replaced (under warranty)... I replaced all the internals with stainless (not that they needed to be). My only complaint was the smoke stack cap would collect grease, etc and drip down the side of the grill... IF I would have done a better job cleaning it occassionally, that's wouldn't have been an issue. As you noted, rust was not an issue at all. I have passed it down to my step son who's loving it. I'm sure he will enjoy it for many more years. As a tip.... If you haven't tried LumberJack pellets (not affiliated), do yourself a favor and try a bag. HUGE improvement in smoke generation over other brands.
Hi Sandy. I appreciate the 2 year review. It was your initial video on the silverbac that was a deciding factor in buying my own about 1 1/2 years ago. Keep them coming.
Thanks for the great two year review Sandy. I have had my Traeger for over two years also and it still has all the original parts and looks good also. Love how dependable these pellet grills are. You are looking great by the way, keep up the great work. Look forward to your next video.
I was teetering between this grill and 2 others and you helped me make my decision and get this grill.. I thank you. I was going to wait for another month because they are coming our with a wifi controller but I went ahead and got it now and figured I'd just upgrade the controller when it comes out.. Thank you!
You are looking good Sandy. I’ve been a big fan since your first video. Glad to see the new videos coming out. Great 2 year review. I got my Silverback 2 years ago in November. Same issues. Same resolutions. Grilla Grills customer service is extraordinary. They really just want us to be happy with the product. I’ve helped three friends decide on a Silverback. They love their grills and are smoking some excellent food. If anyone is thinking about buying a pellet smoker - this Silverback is a TANK. It’s really heavy duty. And it can cook for days on end. I’ve also done about 250 cooks on my smoker. The longest was 36 hours straight though. Briskets, pork shoulders, hams and spatchcocked turkeys. It held temperature perfectly the whole time. I absolutely love it! Merry Christmas to you and your family. And God bless y’all along the way to better health. Gene
Awesome comment Gene! Epic cook for 36 hours....sounds like a blast. You're right about the customer service, and the grill being a tank. Merry Christmas to you and your family as well. God bless.
I've been looking to purchase a pellet grill for the last year or more now and I'm very thankful I came across your channel, Thought I wanted a Traeger but the price is a little much. I'm going to go with the Silverbac AT as my first pellet grill. Thank you for your service and thank you for your reviews. Rah....
I wonder if the Grilla Chimp has different components than this grill. I've watched multiple reviews where people had to replace the electric fan, auger motor, and digital board twice in 6 months on the Grilla Chimp. Maybe this one has more heavy duty components?
Will the pellets take on moisture if a lot is left in the hopper between cooks? Do you need to remove them if you aren't going to be using it for awhile?
Man I appreciate you and your selfless attitude. Screw what the UA-cam trolls say, must suck being a troll with nothing better to do. Thank you very much for your very honest and informative video reviews. I am about to purchase my very first wood pellet smoker & grill and this is the exact make & model my research had led me to. Thanks for verifying this is an excellent choice.
I very much enjoyed the 1-year and 2-year videos. As someone “on-the-fence” about what brand to buy, your videos make powerful statements to me. Thanks for your help! I just have to make up my mind between the new Silverback and the Grilla....
@@JusPiddlinBBQ That's the decision I'm facing. I may be leaning toward the Grilla because of its smaller footprint. We have limited deck space at our condo and if I want to add a pit barrel smoker to the mix down the line for larger cooks that extra space may be key.

I appreciate that @DenaliKing, and I've heard about the fume deal with foil. I rarely cook over 300 degrees, much less 400 but I feel like the "fumes" from foil are minimal and really isn't much to worry about unless you are using it everyday. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!

I like the honesty on the video. I have been smoking on a landmann vertical smoker and a old smokey electric smoker was looking for a solid pellet grill that would stand up for hot weather and cold temp in Pensacola Florida
Thanks for your honest review and for your service. As someone looking to pull the trigger on a pellet grill, your video has definitely helped to persuade me to the Grilla. God bless.

Great review, I just watched your 1 year review and this one. We ordered a silverback about 5 days ago and we are waiting delivery. Thanks for all your honest info! We have used another popular brand for many years and now we are looking forward to the better quality of this Grilla brand.
New subscriber here. If you had to pick between this or a Traeger. Which one would you go with? I’ve been leaning towards the Traeger tailgater. But lots of folks saying the build quality isn’t very good for $450. I don’t need a giant grill. So I’m looking for something a little smaller. I’ve read & heard Traeger customer service is horrible as well. Thanks for your content.
Thank you for this review! I had a few questions and you answered all of them. It seems like looking at their website and hearing you speak about the company, that they have great customer service and are looking to improve their products. Again, thank you for this review.
So what made you get this brand, ive been researching for about 6 months now on all the major brands and stumbled across Grilla Grills today. Then seen this video. Its what I want. Those actual reviews of using and uphold. Ive been stuck on the pitboss Platinum Lockhart. So yeah man, just wanna know what made you take this brand over others because obviously all the others are similar in price, size, pellet capacity, id prefer cast iron grates tho.
Stupid question; so these types of grilles only use flavored pellets (wood flavor)? Can you use charcoal or do they make charcoal pellets without the wood flavor like a charcoal grille?
I see you use the Traeger line quite a bit as well on your program. Its between the Traeger Ironwood 650 and the Silverbac from Grilla Grills. Any thoughts?
So it’s been six months since you posted this video. With that being said has Gorilla grill done anything or are they doing anything to widen the base? Great video! Doing research on pellet grills leaning towards the Silverback.
I see you also got the Traeger 780. How does this compare to that? I've been going back and forth of which pellet grill I want! It seems Grilla has no big complaints from anyone I've seen!
JBibb Visuals I actually like the New Pro Series Traegers better. The D2 drivetrain, the Wifire, and their APP are top notch! Keep in mind tTraeger is selling $1 million dollars worth of grills each month. More people equals more complaints vs others. I’ve noticed GG has more complaints now than when I bout my SB simply because they are selling more now than they did then. I sold my SB. KEEP PIDDLIN!!!
Jus' Piddlin BBQ good to know. I was between the Traeger pro 34 and 780, not sure if I’d really use the WiFi. Also that extra $400 is quite a bit for me.
Thanks for this video it still holds up as I am watching as I decide what grill to buy. Really wanted this SB alpha with AT cart but I live in Canada and this thing is about $200 canadian shy of the Ironwood if you have time can you tell me if the $200 is worth it and also would you choose the Traeger pro over this grill? Thanks
That's good to know Sandy about how your SB has held up. Mine's a little over a year old and is holding up very well. I notice mine get's a little tipsy when the hopper if full too.
@@JusPiddlinBBQ WELL I LIKE TO DO RIBS AND BRISKET AND PORK BUTTS AND PRIME RIB FOR XMAS AND TURKEYS LOL ECT ! THE SLIVER BACK COMES WITH A MEAT PROB AND A TOP RACK AS WELL RIGHT
What pellets do you use and what have you found to be the best and most flavorful? Also, where do you get them. I have been looking at one for some time. I love both your reviews. Do you think they will discount them for Christmas?
Thanks Tom. Being honest, if I purchase pellets I purchase grilla grill pellets (usually competition blend). Always consistent, and I know what to expect. My brother works for Traeger and I sometimes get a bag or two of Traeger pellets from him. Alot of people with other brands of grills don't like them, but I have had absolutely no problem with them. They usually don't run sales, but it is hard to say.
My temp button isn't working just today. Power, Up, and probe all work. The temp will increase but will not decrease. It's not my main smoker either as I usually use my Kamado. Frustrating if I have to buy a $95 replacement unit.
So in two years how often did you stir the pellets and how many paper towel rolls behind the temp probe did you go through?😂 My Traegar is coming up on it’s one year anniversary and it looks and cooks just like it did when I first got it.
Awesome Adam! Good to hear from you.....hope yall are doing well. Merry Christmas. I stir every 27 minutes (not a minute later)(not a minute sooner). I have lost cooking space because most of the interior is filled with toilet paper rolls at this point. * If anybody else reads this response, they are probably confused as hell!LOL
Thanks for this video. I took advantage of Grilla's Black Friday sale for the Original Silverbac. Just assembled it tonight! Will do my burn in tomorrow. So excited!
Great job on this video, I'm like a lot of people looking to graduate up the smoker ranks, I've been a propane griller forever and a few years back I saw these Big Easy oilless fryers that can also smoke, then one day I saw a vertical propane smoker makes way down and gave it a try, what I find is that the Big Easy is great for the turkeys but both units burn the wood chips too fast and won't cook below 300 degrees. Now I'm looking into the pellet grills and found your video, again great job. I'm very interested in these Gorilla grills and its great to see how they hold up. I am interested in the 3 other grills you have in the back ground and if this Gorilla is better than any of them?
Thanks for the update watched your one year review and decided to order the original silverback Black Friday got it very quickly and cooked pork loin the first night turned out great thanks for the honest and informative review made my decision easy.
Great video Sandy! I noticed my drip pan had some warpage in it as well! The only other failure I’ve had is with the meat probe, but other than that it’s been great and have had mine fore 2 years as well.
Both are great, but the Ironwood has more space and the controller is far superior as far as function and features....especially when compared to the Traeger App.
I actually sold it Matt....to make room for other grills....but it was still performing perfectly, and still is with the new owner. I have 6 pellet grills, and I keep pellets in all of the hoppers...never any swelling. I will say, however, that I use my grills frequently. Thanks!
@@JusPiddlinBBQ thanks. Been considering a new pellet grill. What brands do you recommend? I've had a bad experience already, and reviews of others are delaying my replacement decision.
Many thanks for your videos Sir. I appreciate the honesty and depth that you put into these. I just subscribed to your channel and will be purchasing a Silverbac AT tonight.
I can't even get it to work once out of the box. Flame out twice in an hour. I shut it down and it begins smoking without power. Now I just shut the lid and wait.
This review helped me make up my mind... I've been bouncing back and forth between a few but I'm going with the silverbac alpha...im just trying to hold out to see if they drop their wifi model soon
Thanks for the review has helped me with my decision quite a bit. Just returned my T-braded grill to Costco after multiple flareups. Your gill looks cleaner than my T-branded grill did after just 6 months of ownership. The grease was everywhere, not sure if that was because my model vented out the back and the Gorilla vents out the top or what. My cleaning procedure was the same as yours. I'm still on the fence after watching this because I think that you and the Engineering Manager, Mark, at Grilla have something going on with the shiny head. I'm doing my research this time, thanks again for the video.
LOL...I don't think either one of us can do anything about our shiny heads ! We are both veterans and we like grilling. But I don't get paid for these reviews. Just honesty. Cheers.
Greatly appreciate the review. Also, just watched your 1 year review and if it's not a lot of work would consider putting some caption when you show the internal components and mention they are now stainless steel. When watching that video it was slightly off-putting seeing rust on the internal components. Now knowing they use Stainless steel, is great to know. Again, thanks for the info.... I put waaaay too much time into researching purchases lol.
Great review and in particular I relate to the narrow base. I am in the process of getting rid of my Traeger and getting something else. My Traeger tipped over when I filled the hopper with pellets and I placed my tri-tips on top of the hopper, since there were no additional flat spaces. Turned around and it was already on its way to the ground. I was very disappointed in the engineering. Obviously, I was not the only person this happened to since I noticed about 2 months later Traeger changed the base to sweep the legs out.
@@BigAzzCuban loving it really has even changed the way I eat. Only thing I may have done different is get the grilla instead of the Silver back. And that is only because the smaller size would fit my cooking needs better

UPDATE.. Customer service = top notch tho. Sending replacement part out to me asap. Simple fix they say.
I wanna buy a gorilla grill silverbac alpha or a traeger 780 pro witch is better?
How would people compare this to a rec tec?
I've never had a Rec Tec, but I think they are well made as well.
Liked the video, very informative. I am going to buy a Grilla but i'm having a hard time deciding between the Silverbac and the OG.
I'm looking at this grill. This was VERY helpful. Thanks!!
I'm trying to decide between this grill and the grilla alpha. I dont see a lot of reviews on the other one though
So in two years how often did you stir the pellets and how many paper towel rolls behind the temp probe did you go through?😂
My Traegar is coming up on it’s one year anniversary and it looks and cooks just like it did when I first got it.
Jus' Piddlin BBQ im thinking about buying a pellet grill, if i may ask what do you mean by using toilet/paper towels
Thanks for this video. I took advantage of Grilla's Black Friday sale for the Original Silverbac. Just assembled it tonight! Will do my burn in tomorrow. So excited!
That's awesome. Leave me a comment on what you think.
Thanks man! Very helpful. I think I'm sold.
Thanks for the awesome review. There’s now 3 version of the silverbac, which do you think is worth buying?
Thank you for making this video. It was very helpful. And yes I am trying to look into a pellet grill / smoker.
Glad this helped Charles!
Awesome!!
Just curious bignik957 how much was the grill on black Friday? I'm debating on waiting. I currently have a Rec Tec bullseye and need a bigger grill
Great video Sandy! I noticed my drip pan had some warpage in it as well! The only other failure I’ve had is with the meat probe, but other than that it’s been great and have had mine fore 2 years as well.
Thanks for the comment Chris.
Know if they have any plans to add wireless on any time soon?
Which grill would you prefer a Traeger Pro 34 or the gorilla grill silverback ?
I noticed you are using Traegers now. I'm a Grilla user today looking at an Ironwood 885. Any comments from your experience to compare the 2 grills?
Both are great, but the Ironwood has more space and the controller is far superior as far as function and features....especially when compared to the Traeger App.
mine's coming Friday - can;t wait - awesome review!! Good to hear that it's really good quality...I smoke all the time....
Nice video, watched it while my Silverbac is seasoning.
Do you have a four year update? Do you store pellets in the grill? If so, any swelling of the pellets?
I actually sold it Matt....to make room for other grills....but it was still performing perfectly, and still is with the new owner. I have 6 pellet grills, and I keep pellets in all of the hoppers...never any swelling. I will say, however, that I use my grills frequently. Thanks!
@@JusPiddlinBBQ thanks. Been considering a new pellet grill. What brands do you recommend? I've had a bad experience already, and reviews of others are delaying my replacement decision.
Thanks for you reviews! My Weber gas grill is about due to be replaced after a decade of hard use. Grilla is looking to be the replacement of choice.
They have great products and back them up with great service. Good luck with your replacement.
Many thanks for your videos Sir. I appreciate the honesty and depth that you put into these. I just subscribed to your channel and will be purchasing a Silverbac AT tonight.
Did you get it?
I would love to get one. What is the solution? A competition cart with rubber tires.
I can't even get it to work once out of the box. Flame out twice in an hour. I shut it down and it begins smoking without power. Now I just shut the lid and wait.
Thanks I just ordered mine.great info.
Great video, I'm shopping for a grill and have been paying close attention to this brand,
think I'm sold, Thanks again !
5 years. Is it still holding up?
I no longer have it...I changed over to American Made Yoders.
This review helped me make up my mind... I've been bouncing back and forth between a few but I'm going with the silverbac alpha...im just trying to hold out to see if they drop their wifi model soon
Yes great video, keep them coming! How did you etch or stencil you logo on the shelf? I really like it.
Grilla Grills makes can do it for you. Contact Mark Graham for pricing, send them the logo that you want, and they will get it to you.
I see another pelet grill behind you on the video is that a pit boss did it break?
Thanks great video.
Frank Rodriguez no I also have a Traeger Ironwood 885 and a Traeger Tailgater. Both are great cookers as well.
Great video! I’m torn between this one and the Camp Chef. Any items to watch out for regarding Camp Chef with the sidekick for steak searing?
Thanks for the comment Bobby. I can't really speak to the CC because I haven't used it.
Cheers.
Made in Michigan, USA 👍
Thanks for the review I've been on the fence about getting a different pellet grill. I'm buying a silverbac because of this review.
That's awesome Ralph. you will love it! If you will, let GG know that this review helped. Cheers!
Thank you, Seriously considering this grill.
thanks for the update. I'm leaning towards the silverback
I am getting one delivered either Sunday or Monday. I can't wait.
Thanks for the reviews. Ended up ordering an Alpha Silverback because of them.
I just bought one today after seeing your reviews. Between the quailty and customer service seems amazing. Bought the silver back alpha
Richard Brown how you liking your grill?
@@BigAzzCuban loving it really has even changed the way I eat. Only thing I may have done different is get the grilla instead of the Silver back. And that is only because the smaller size would fit my cooking needs better
I’ve been considering getting one of these and doing lots of research. Thanks for the information!
Thank you sir!
