Just a quick note, I started researching pellet grills about two years ago, ended up purchasing a Green Mountain Grill (Jim Bowie) about a year later (slow purchaser). Your videos were the most informative out of all I have seen! I was up in the air about purchasing one until I found your channel. Thanks a million! On another note, your videos gave me the knowledge to get a Traeger for free because he didn't know anything about them, got frustrated and put it on the curb still smoking for free. Any way, keep up the videos, represent Ga.
Great........video man. If you just got a pellet grill take his advice. Especially listen from 10:36 on about flame outs and back fires! Also keep that hopper full or no lower than half to prevent flame outs and keep a fire extinguisher near. I had a flame out before due to the hopper running out and learned the hard way. Dumped more pellets in, sparked the grill right back up and heard a loud kaboom 10 minutes later! My books directions which I keep near in the cabinet said to turn the grill to low and I set it to 200 and keep the lid closed I guess so the fire doesn't spread out of the grill. The grill eventually calmed down. Never had an issue since and now I dont play. Your video should be a mandatory watch for new pellet users. Be safe folks!
excellent video my friend. I’ve been watching pellet grill videos for about a week in preparation for my new Pit Boss and your video was the only one that touched on safety as a subject which is the most important thing off all. Thanks for looking out for all of us . 👍🏻
Thanks for the info. I had a flame out last night. I went out after about 30 minutes and it was running around 75 degrees. So immediately thought something was wrong and reset it. After it fired up I thought it was fixed. About 20 minutes later, super thick smoke bellowing out of the vent. Checked temp and it was 550 and had a fire going under the heat shield. Really appreciate all the tips and tricks. Thanks
Great video and perfect explanation of how pellet grills work! I have owned a Traeger for about three and a half years and I love it and it has never failed me! In my experience I would like to add that all pellets are not created equally! Be careful what pellets you use. I had a burn out one time and it was from bad pellets, not Traeger brand. We had a lot of humid days and the pellets became soft and crumbly. After a close exam of the two pellet brands, you could see one failing and the other one was solid, almost a shiny surface. I'm not a pellet expert, but I think Traeger uses a vegetable oil in process, that could really help fight against moisture. I'm going to find some sort of mesh bag to put rice in and store with my pellets to keep them drier, also maybe try to tie one in my hopper, so it doesn't fall in the auger. Thanks for the great video and may God continue to heal and strengthen you! P.S. I change my foil on the drip pan after every use, because the burnt drippings seem to make the next cook taste bad. I buy a commercial box of foil at Sam's Club for twenty dollars a box. It will last me a long time. Well worth it to me. Keep Piddlin!
Awesome comment Rick! I agree totally with you about pellets. I have only used two brands of pellets, and both were good quality. Never had any issues. I've never used Traeger brand pellets, except for in my brother's Traeger. Thanks for watching and your comments. Cheers!
Very informative video, Sandy. After several years of using propane grills, I’m now researching and shopping for a pellet grill to replace our current BBQ. I’ve been looking at the Silverbac and after watching your review on it, it definitely would be my first choice. The problem is that I’m up here in Toronto, Canada and the duty on top of the exchange would be BRUTAL! 😫 So I’m lookin at the Traeger Lil Tex Elite, which I can buy right off the floor at Lowes hardware. I’m hoping the quality and construction can at least measure up comparably. The less pricey Pit Boss gets good reviews but the warranty is 2 years better on the Traeger. Anyways, your videos will surely be helpful as a pellet grill newbie.
Thanks for your comment and explaining your situation. Before you make a purchase, contact Mark Graham @ Grilla Grills about shipping to Canada. I think they have been working on shipping costs to Canada and may be able to help. mgraham@grillagrills.com
Great tips. I have a z grill on the way. Been researching how to be mindful of how to extend the use of it. Seeing as I never had a pellet grill. You mentioned searing a bit, since the drip pan covers the flame fully whats your recommendation searing steaks on the grill? technically i guess you could let a cast iron sit inside for a while and use that.
thanks for all of your information. I'm no stranger to grillin but have never used a pellet grill. I have just pulled the trigger on a siverbac and expect delivery in the middle of August. the suspense is killin me!! Thanks again
Just got a flameout, just vacuum clean everything but the area where the pellet falls and I am back on track to my first smoke Spareribs. Too bad, I haven't buy a dedicated VAc. just to clean the ashes or remove pellets from hoper. Just lost about 10 cups of pellets overflow. I was smoking at 220f in the rain. Thank you for you advise.
Glad this helped Oscar. Make sure you clean inside the firepot as well. Probably due to moisture because of the rain. Pellets and moisture don't mix. Cheers!
I clean my Treager the same way except on the drip pan I use two layers of foil. I've found that sometimes the hot drippings can burn a hole in the foil and the drip pan gets stained. With two layers, if the top leaks, the bottom layer catches it and my pan stays clean. At cleaning time all I need to replace is the top foil and the bottom layer will last for months. I never need to clean my drip pan.
Nicely done. Great Video for people just starting out with a pellet smoker. I couldn't agree with you more. 90% of Pellet smoker problems are user enhanced. Take care and really appreciate the videos.
Love your informational videos. I've been on the fence about buying the Silverbac. Now with the campchef woodwind out my decision is even tougher. Any thoughts on build quality between the two? Also, Just curious - what are the 3 screws up each side of your lid? Did you mod your grilla?
Matt Gray I haven't seen the campchef in person so I can't speak for it. I have seen the GMG grills, Louisiana grills, and used Traeger grills. I would personally buy this silverbac over all of those. The 3 bolts are a mod Grilla has made to their lids to aid in forming to the body. The lid by itself weighs about 14 lbs. thanks for watching.
I have a pit boss and I've noticed I've had flame up issues. I cleaned the grill almost everytime I smoke and last weekend I had a flame up after cooking a brisket for about 10 hours. I cleaned it this afternoon and had about what I could guess was about a pound of grease.
Chris Wright sounds like something is preventing grease from draining properly if you are having flame ups. Grease was in the bottom of the barrel? Do you foil your drip pan? If so, make sure the foil isn’t blocking the grease drain. Make sure the grease pan is seated properly.
@@JusPiddlinBBQ I actually just did a good deep clean on it yesterday, I scraped out quite a bit of grease. I woke up this morning about 5 and had a pork butt and brisket on it by 6am and no issues at all. I love my pit boss, I want to get the me pit boss stand up smoker and another stick burner.
After watching a few hours of your pellet grill specific videos, I pulled the trigger and got me a Silverback. I too tend to "over" research everything. But at least I am informed! Just ask my wife lol! Just did my seasoning/burn off. Thanks for all the great advice and covering all the bases. Bought Green Mountain pellets at my local mom and pop hardware and they seem fine at this point. Living in SW Florida, humidity will be the opponent every time I cook. I will empty the hopper each cook except today since some chicken breasts and pork chops go on in a couple hours. Sempre Fi
Thanks for the comment Paul. I live in South Georgia, and the humidity is terrible here as well, but I have had no problem with pellets because of it. I don't empty my hopper, and I don't even have a cover for mine. I just keep it on my back porch with a roof. The biggest thing is to USE it......then the pellets don't have time to pick up the moisture. Cheers.
@@JusPiddlinBBQ Thanks for info about humidity not being an issue. We use it on Fridays and Saturdays so I will see how it goes with just cleaning it after a cook and leave the hopper alone. Leg of lamb today. Rubbed with a paste and overnight in the beer fridge. Should be delicious!
I have been doing my research also. Your video is the best on how to safely use a pellet grill. One more tip I learned. Do not let the hopper get below 1/3 of pellets so to keep it feeding properly.
Thanks! I just ordered a chimp it’s supposed to come tomorrow. I really enjoy your videos, I can’t wait to try out some of your recipes. Is that an eagle, globe and anchor on your left shoulder? If yes Semper Fi!
Awesome video as always! I learned every time I have seen your videos. One thing Id like to add though is to keep an eye on the temp using a remote thermometer. This weekend cooking ribs, I got to the wrap part and went from 225 to 250. After an hour I came back and it was off and had been off for some time. The GFCI for some reason kicked it off. I had to reset the GFCI and restart it when it had gotten to 130 degrees. I have a Thermoworks Smoke thermometer and was not monitering the temp because I did not think this would happen. It just made my cook about an hour longer and the ribs were just not right. Good way to ruin 3 racks of ribs from Costco. What Ill do next time is put the Thermometer in with a low temp alarm set. I have a Traeger and could not deal with the temp swings , so I replaced the controller with a Savannah Stokes IV. It is an awesome controller BTW for those Traeger owners.
Got the flameout first time on pellet grill running temp too low. did just what he said, turned unit back on after shutting off without cleaning or checking firebox, bad mistake. Firebox had over flowed and was a piled up smoldering mess. This video should become required viewing for first time pellet grill use until somebody can figure out the auger auto shut of feature. I guess i should be glad my LG900 from Costco doesn't have the firebox directly connected to auger and hopper, kind of a pushout and gravity feed type set up. thanks for this great vid.
Hi Sandy. I've had a Pit Boss pellet grill for about a month now and have been watching all your videos. I too put foil on my drip pan but my manual says I shouldn't and I've seen others say the same. Wanted your thoughts on the matter since I see you do foil as well. Keep piddlin!
Does it give a reason why you shouldn't? Traeger even sells foil drip pan covers for their drip pans. I just think it keeps things easier to clean and prolongs the life of the drip pan.
First off, thanks for the great video. I’ve been smoking for about the last 7 years with a stick burner & got it down pretty good. My wife just got me a Traeger Pro 22 for a early Father’s Day gift. I’ve noticed the lower rack (grate) is a lot wider than the drip pan leaving space for drippings to possibly make its way down to the bottom of pit. Could or would this be a problem if there was some meat over the gap? Common sense tells me to make sure the meat is directly over the drip pan. With my stick burner, this is something I don’t have to worry about. Thanks Chris out of Kansas City
Great comment Chris. Yes I would be a little careful with that. I try to make sure the meat is always over the drip pan. Probably not an issue unless you are doing a high-heat cook, but I like to be on the safe side. On the other hand, that gap is a great place to roast peppers, onions, etc...
Do you use any cleaning products to clean the grates and greasy surfaces...like oven cleaner? Do you need to clean the inside of the lid... i noticed its become smoke tinted (obviously) but is this normal / ok ? Thx!
Thanks for the comment Trevor. I don't use oven cleaner or anything like that on my grill. The only thing that I have used is this stuff called LA's Totally Awesome cleaner. Get it at your local dollar store or search for it on Amazon. Other than that, it is pretty much soap and water. I keep the interior vacuumed and cleaned out but rarely have any grease at all inside. For the outside, I use stainless steel cleaner on all of the SS. That's about it.
great video. firing up my new traeger tomorrow and learned a lot. the 400+ cool down period is essential info that i seem to be running across. thanks, man.
Thanks for your comment and subscription Trevor. Glad this was some help and thanks for watching. We may have different brands of pellet smokers but our passion is the same. Cheers!
Daniel Zamora I personally use the grilla grill brand and buy straight off their site. BBQ'rs Delight is a good pellet as well. Both have great flavor and I have had zero issues. I tried Traeger Big Game blend that was given to me to try and had 4 flameouts. Still have half the bag on my porch. Don't buy that brand.
At the risk of adding to your rant, please be advised I have not purchased one yet lol. However, i have been doing research as well. Great videos by the way! I am still a little confused about the flame out, is it because they had not been properly cleaned?
No problem Rick....thanks for the comment. Many times this issues are "user error". Not cleaning out the internals of the grill, specifically the firepot, can cause a lack of air flow or clogged pellet feed and snuff out the flame. On rare occasions, a pellet may get jammed in the auger, a pellet void may occur in the hopper, the auger motor may fail, or the fan motor may fail which will cause the same thing. The other variable is pellets. Make sure you use a quality pellet and keep them away from moisture. I hope this helps. Cheers.
I'm curious about the manufacture of silver back and some others such as z grills. If they are the same manufacture how they compare. Wish I could go to my local feed and seed store and look at them.
Thanks for the question Paul. The design is very similar because it is impossible to patent a barrel style pellet grill. That is about as far as the similarities go. There is virtually NO support from ZGrills. They actually spammed my videos for a while and I had to call the threaten them before they stopped. The answering machine and never got to talk to an actual person. Bottom line, stay away from Zgrills!!! You won't find a grilla in a feed and seed store as they are only online.
Straightforward, to the point. I love the hat, i have a couple flags. Thank your for your service? I never got a clear shot of that tat you're on your left but it looks like you were in the Corps. Great video.
Thanks for the kind words and for watching. Yes it's an EGA and a Marine till I die...Semper Fi! I appreciate that Buddy Dry. Yea I saw a guy wearing this hat about 5 years ago at a Nascar race. Came home, founded it online, and ordered it. My favorite hat.
I have seen a lot of your videos and appreciate the effort you put into them, good work!...I just got my Silverbac today and got ot seasoned. First Cook on Friday I am going with a Costco brisket and Lumberjack Pellets,(taking back the Traeger pellets from costco). I will take your advice about how to alleviate the black flame and it definitely caught my attention, hate the thought of my new deck going up in flames!! I had flameouts with my pellet stove, 99% of the time was,(me) user error , ran out of pellets.
first time using my pit boss and at the end, after food was off, and i was just doing a cleaning burn....i ran out of pellets....did that do any damage?
Thanks for watching Robert. Yes it is real......and a pain in my A&&! LOL.. I feel like I'm constantly pulling weeds, putting out mulch, and spraying round up! Not fun in South Georgia in the Summer months. Thanks though.
I wonder with the pricepoint of the Grilla there isn't an ash catch to make cleaning it out easier or the ability to change pellets on this particular model before running the hopper empty.
Louis Gattone thanks for the comment. Even with an ash dump you still have to vacuum out the unit or brush all the ash into the dump hole. I don’t really see the point. It only takes me about 3 mins to dump out pellets from my hopper with a plastic bowl. But I use a competition blend now so I don’t really see the need to dump pellets. That’s just how I run mine, but everyone is different. Hose two options just aren’t important to me. Neither is WiFi for that matter.
I agree WiFi is a waste, personally. What is this competition blend you speak of? I am looking at buying a pellet smoker and this one looks awesome. Just trying to see what's up in comparison to some others I see out there. I'm guessing the double lining inside would help out in Indiana when it's cold instead of having to have a heat blanket as well.
Very well put together video and the recap was amazing. Thank you....I used my pellet grill yesterday and winged it and well the ribs were lot charred. Thanks for being positive d
I'll give you my honest opinion Maddog! I have used both. I have never owned a Traeger. My brother owns a Traeger, and sells Traegers at his Ace Hardware store. I think the Traeger is a good pellet smoker. If I had my choice, however, I would choose the Silverbac 10/10 times over the comparable Traeger. I just think that it is a better built smoker from a material and design standpoint. Traeger has made some improvements with algorithms and such, but I like the way the GG Silverbac cooks and feels in my hand (weight, construction, etc.). My experience with Grilla Grill customer service has been awesome as well. I havent dealt with Traeger customer service so I cannot speak for that. That is my honest opinion. Thanks for watching.
Jus' Piddlin BBQ thank you so much for your feedback. Really really means a lot to me. Also I'm glad you're feeling much better. God bless you. Keep on making awesome videos.
Save money buy a pitboss... Excellent smokers for the money and only pellet smoker offers the searing slide over for cooking quick food like a normal grill when needed
Well said, I can see you read the Facebook posts on the flameout subject and the exploding fire pot. Thank you for the information and insight. My grill is supposedly on it's way to the Washington Sorting Center, although there's no tracking information to support this statement. I'd love to know what your tracking statement said, without your personal information, just the chart grid messages. Mine doesn't look like what's in the tracking video.
Thanks for the comments Geoffrey. To be honest, I don't exactly remember what mine said. I do know that I had an email from the shipping co., that was updated with the location of my grill. That was pretty accurate. Hope you get it soon.
I had my first flame out today I tried your method but it didn't work. I have a silverbac and will be tearing it down tomorrow after speaking with the tech at Grilla. I had a flameout after working my grill at 240-250 all day
Sorry to hear that you had a flame out Brad. I don't know your exact situation, i.e. ambient temp, pellet brand, cleaning habits, what you were cooking, etc., so it is hard for me to speak about your specific situation. I'm not sure if you are meaning "my method" by cooking above 225F or if you mean "my method' by what you did after the flame out. If you mean cooking above 225F, cleaning it out before the cook, etc..., those are suggestions to decrease the chances of having a flame out and to increase your chances of having a successful cook, but is not a guarantee. There is always a chance that this could happen. With that being said, I have probably cooked on mine approx. 150 - 175 times this passed year and only had 4 flame outs in a row due to some bad Traeger pellets that someone gave me to try. My brother tried the same pellets in his Traeger and immediately had a flame out within 15 minutes or so. I removed those pellets, threw them in the trash, replaced them back with Grilla Grill pellets and haven't had a problem. Other than that, I do exactly what I said in the video, I stick to Grilla Grills pellets, and have never had an issue. As for what to do after a flame out, the method that I explain in the video is not actually my method, but the method that is recommended by Grilla Grills as well as other pellet grill manufacturers. I think sooner or later everyone at some point who owns a pellet grill will experience this at least once, but as long as you know how to handle it, the impact can be minimized. I did actually run my silverbac out of pellets once, but again, that was my fault for assuming I had enough in the hopper. Thanks for letting me know your situation, and I hope this helps a little. If I can help in any way please let me know. I appreciate your comment and support.
when I mentioned "your method" I mean't that when I saw smoke in the hopper I cranked the temperature to try and vacate the tube( thinking I had a back fire). turns out I filled the pot and the bottom of the grill. Then a terminal mistake, I started the grill again which caused the white smoke from hell, I clean my grill after every other cook depending on how long the cook. I cleaned it today again and fired it up. some of the first few pellets were charred but it appears to be running fine now
Thanks for clarifying Brad...completely understand your situation now. It is a learning process for sure. I think the difference between our situations is that in my back fire example the tailgater never had a flame out and had been completely shutdown (no longer filling with pellets), so when I restarted it, the hot rod reignited and ignited the pellets left in the pot before the shutdown, thus cleaning out the auger tube of any smoldering pellets while burning them up as they dumped into the fire pot. When I state that the grill restarted properly at about the 16:38 mark, that is what I am referring to. If I had not seen an indication of a flame, then I would've had no choice but to shut it down, empty everything out and start over. I then decreased the temp to about 250F or so, let it run a few minutes and then shut it down properly. This situation was caused by going from a pretty hot 450F to a straight shutdown (creating smoldering pellets and smoke back through the auger tube). I knew there was no flame out (no excess pellets) because it was running right up until I shut it down. If the SB ever flames out, I don't think the fire will restart on its own without being totally restarted to engage the hot rod. This is not recommended after a flame out because, as you experienced, there is an excessive amount of pellets in the fire pot that need to be cleaned out first. I have had to restart mine a few times like this during cooks because I accidentally hit the power button instead of the probe button and it causes it to start cool down mode. When I hit the power button again, it goes back into startup mode, the three lights on the LED blink indicating the hot rod is ignited, and I continue my cook. If my video created any confusion for you, I do apologize. BBQ'r Delight pellets are great pellets. Thanks again Brad and keep at it! Hoping this makes sense and for success for your future cooks!
I did see a Grilla video where they addressed a flame out problem. They described it coming from lower quality pellets that use ash. They recommended only pellets that had oak in makeup. Hope this helps.
Jus' Piddlin BBQ I was able to use my vacuum cleaner instead of buying a shop vac. $$ saved! So I cleaned it out last night and it's back to working properly! I'm such a newbie! Thanks again!
@@JusPiddlinBBQ I have an OC Brazos stick burner, but I'm in the market for a Pellet Grill (for the convenience factor of being able to do cooks during the weeknights), and I'm thinking about going with the Silverbac Alpha after a lot of research. You still liking your Silverbac?
@@dspille I appreciate that! Long story short....I unintentionally became an unpaid customer service person / salesman for GG, at first it was enjoyable, at the end I asked myself why am I doing this? I started using Traegers after the D2 grills came out, and it became a win-win situation.

Great video l kinda over review myself. Really like what you said about safety, these are machines not just smokers/cookers. My concern is a back fire into pellet hopper. I've got a nice covered front porch, but it's all wood overhead much safer and piece of mind to cook in the yard in front of the porch. I let it cool completely before I put it back on porch😜 Bought a Woodwind 1 month ago. #noextrafiresinmycooker🤓
Great and useful info. I’ll be using my Traeger for the first time this weekend. Upgraded from a propane cabinet style smoker. I wasn’t aware of flame-outs and back-fires. You described them perfectly and I now know what to do if I ever get in trouble. Same for the +400 cooking temp.
Jus' Piddlin BBQ, I had a flame out but had started at 5am and it was fairly cold. Traeger gave me a LEr error message and the pot was full of unburied pellets. Handled it fine with info from your video and somehow nailed my personal best brisket. Thanks so much, keep up the good work!
Sorry to hear that you had a flame out, but glad to hear that you got it handled and had a successful cook. That's what it's all about. Thanks for the comment Brett!
Thanks for watching bill. It was a fairly new lid. The original one didn't have the bracing that the new ones do. I had only used it with the new lid a few times.
Not to hate but these pellet grills which i just bought are lazy man outdoor ovens with a smoke mode, these do not produce real bbq taste, pellet grills are great and easy for salmon and pork only, if youre looking for real bbq taste do not buy a pellet grill. Learn how to use coals and wood, that will get you the right taste you want just with a little more work, it all bools down to the cooker i guess, be lazy and buy a pellet grill with minimal taste, get crazy and ocd and produce real bbq taste with real woods logs or chunks and hot coals, you cant beat the taste difference!
Not to LMAO.....but LMAO!!! You don't know me. You don't know my reasons behind purchasing my pellet grill. You don't know what tastes I'm looking for, and you don't know what experience I have cooking or with how many different types of cookers. I have said on this very channel in a separate video that the pellet grill is a lazy man's stick burner, so I'm not sure what your point is...except to point out your ignorance of my thoughts on pellet grills. If you don't like it, don't use it. Hell certainly don't buy one!!! If you don't like watching videos about them then this is not the channel for you. With that being said, JusPiddlinBBQ will gladly accept all forms of monetary donations in order for me to purchase a new stick burner. I'd love to have one!!! $2500.00 should get the Lang 48" reverse flow patio deluxe model that I want. I will take a check, gift card, even your debit card if you provide your pin#, and I'll certainly take cold hard cash, although I prefer big bills with the wrinkles ironed out. Or if you prefer, you can just make the purchase for me and have it shipped. Shipping may be expensive seeing as how it weighs about 1000 lbs. Either way, just contact me at Juspiddlinbbq@gmail.com so that I can give you my shipping address. BTW...not to hate but spellchecker is one hell of a tool!

What to you use to clean the grates? My traeger has ceamic coated grates so I cant' use the steel brush I use to clean my kamado.
I use a steel brush and have had no issues. I also use a wood scraper.
thanks for all of your information. I'm no stranger to grillin but have never used a pellet grill. I have just pulled the trigger on a siverbac and expect delivery in the middle of August. the suspense is killin me!! Thanks again
Thanks for watching brad. I know you are looking forward to getting that silverbac to the house. Congrats!!
Very informative video! Thanks for sharing your expertise.
This info was very helpful to me, as I'm about to but my first pellet grill! Thanks from Louisiana
Just got a flameout,
just vacuum clean everything but the area where the pellet falls and I am back on track to my first smoke Spareribs.
Awesome Ken. Thanks for watching. Good tip with the double layer of foil.
Nicely done. Great Video for people just starting out with a pellet smoker. I couldn't agree with you more. 90% of Pellet smoker problems are user enhanced.
Take care and really appreciate the videos.
Michael Vance thanks for watching and the kind words! Glad you enjoyed the video.
Chris Wright awesome Chris. Glad you had a good cook. Thanks for your comment.
Great video! So informative!
Sorry to hear that.....I've never had that happen........knock on wood.
Good tips ! I just got a Pit Boss so these definitely helped me to understand the operation. Thanks !
Thanks for watching. Glad this was helpful.
It just says due to high heat do not cover the flame broiler or probes with aluminum foil.
That is true.....I wouldn't cover the probes, and some grills have a broiler that shouldn't be covered. That's different than a regular drip tray.
I truly appreciate your information videos. You obviously have a keen eye for observation which logically results in some great tips.
Can you leave pellets in box between cooks? Worried about them absorbing too much moisture to burn well
Mark Goyne I leave them in mine and have had no problems. Thanks for the question.
The manual for my pellet smoker says in big bold letters "Never use heavy cleaners such as oven cleaner in smoker"
great video. firing up my new traeger tomorrow and learned a lot. the 400+ cool down period is essential info that i seem to be running across. thanks, man.
Thanks for your comment and subscription Trevor. Glad this was some help and thanks for watching. We may have different brands of pellet smokers but our passion is the same. Cheers!
Good job
What brand of Pellets do you use and where you buy them recommended for Silverbac ???? Thx!
Thanks. I just picked up a GMG in November and this helps me understand some of the particulars. Great vid!
Jason Kaspor thanks! Glad you got something from the video. I appreciate you stopping by!
Cheers.
Good video Sandy! It's hard to focus when you have that nice pool in the background! Great setting for the grill, wish I had that sweet setup!!
Thanks Chris L! I appreciate it. It's a pain to keep up sometimes, but I do enjoy it.
Jus' Piddlin BBQ I just had another idea! Can you show a video on how to do teriyaki chicken kabobs?
Absolutely. Easy as pie. Maybe tomorrow......thanks for the suggestion Chris!
That's awesome...CONGRATULATIONS! I know you are ready for Friday! Thanks so much for watching. Glad to have you here!
first time using my pit boss and at the end, after food was off, and i was just doing a cleaning burn....i ran out of pellets....did that do any damage?
Not at all.
Great video, had to ask is that real grass in your yard. Looks impressive.
Thanks for watching Robert. Yes it is real......and a pain in my A&&! LOL.. I feel like I'm constantly pulling weeds, putting out mulch, and spraying round up! Not fun in South Georgia in the Summer months. Thanks though.
Thank you. You have really shortened my learning curve
Thank you so much! Appreciate all the help I can get😊
I wonder with the pricepoint of the Grilla there isn't an ash catch to make cleaning it out easier or the ability to change pellets on this particular model before running the hopper empty.
Louis Gattone Grilla Grills has their own competition blend that is oak, hickory, and cherry.
Doesn't vacuuming the ash ruin your vacuum because of the ash is corrosive.
It is a plastic shopvac!
Very well put together video and the recap was amazing. Thank you....I used my pellet grill yesterday and winged it and well the ribs were lot charred. Thanks for being positive d
Thanks so much for the comment. It is a learning curve, but you will get it!
You sir have a fantastic channel ... subbed
You really like that Grilla grill right? Would you rank it higher then a trageger?
Anytime man! Thanks. Your well wishes mean alot.
Save money buy a pitboss... Excellent smokers for the money and only pellet smoker offers the searing slide over for cooking quick food like a normal grill when needed
These are really practical tips and it helps that I have the same grill! Thanks!
Lee Setzer thanks brother! Happy Grillan!
Big help and great video. Hoping to get a Chimp soon!!
Good informative video the flareup happend to me on my pitboss it exploded!!
Sorry to hear that.........happens to the best of us. Hope this video helps.
Great video with great safety advise. Man, you got a lot of birds around there!
Hello San just got my Silverbac today!!! Thx for recommendation on this great Smoker!!!
Happy Grilla n
Daniel Zamora congrats! You will love it!!!
Great explanation Sandy. Really appreciate info.
Very informative video.Best UA-cam video I have had the pleasure of watching! Thank you so much!!
Thanks for your comment and the kind words.
I cleaned it today again and fired it up. some of the first few pellets were charred but it appears to be running fine now
I use BBQr's delight pellets
This was so helpful! Now I feel better knowing my flame up was probably my fault. I guess I need to run out and get a shop vac.
I'm glad this video helped you Diallo.
Jus' Piddlin BBQ I was able to use my vacuum cleaner instead of buying a shop vac. $$ saved! So I cleaned it out last night and it's back to working properly! I'm such a newbie! Thanks again!
good tips. my Silverback should be here this month.
Awesome jwall2011! Just remember to relax and let the smoker do its thing. Enjoy.
Do you clean the chimney? If so how often do you do that?
I haven't cleaned the chimney. I have taken the chimney cover off and cleaned it once. Thanks for the question.
Thanks. Really great information here.
Dennis thanks so much.
Dennis I sold it. Have 7 Traegers now.
@@JusPiddlinBBQ Whoa! That's a lot of smokers. What made you move away from Grilla? I've been enjoying going through your content on your channel.
@@dspille I appreciate that! Long story short....I unintentionally became an unpaid customer service person / salesman for GG, at first it was enjoyable, at the end I asked myself why am I doing this? I started using Traegers after the D2 grills came out, and it became a win-win situation.
Great video and info.
Inpressive thanks for the video.
Great video. Enjoyed it!
Good info Sandy. Thanks for what you do.

thanks alot for this video just bought a pit boss pellet grill you have alot of good pointers that make sense..p.s. was there in daytona when king petty won #200 got his autograph after they got president regan out of the track..also seen roger penske win 1st. indy race with mark donahue in 1972...p.s.s. seen jeff gordon racein outlaw sprints at bloomington speedway (home of the kinsers) when he was 14years old............thanks ,will use your advice..don weddle jr
Awesome Don! Thanks so much for your comment. Glad you found this video helpful. Those racing experiences are unforgettable. I'll be headed to Bristol next Friday.....sure hope the rain holds off this year! Thanks again Don!
Dwayne Shippey the only backfire I have ever had was with Traeger pellets. Thanks for watching!!!
Yeah it's a wood fire and l think some have the impression you don't need to keep a close eye.
Brett Oetting glad this helped out and good luck with your cook this weekend. It’s a learning process but a fun one!! Cheers!
Great video!
Thanks James!
nice tips
Thanks brother!! Semper Fi!
Good info to know . Thanks .
What is going on with your lawn? It looks like you're living on a golf green.
the inside of your door is spotless. It doesn't look like you have even cooked in this grill.
Jus' Piddlin BBQ great reply!
