So far this season I have got my best fish from small rivers I grew up swimming there. It’s filled with 15 holes and over my head by a few feet, I’m also from Vermont and the last 2 seasons hand been for best of my life. I love trout fishing and I will keep one huge fish every year or one of the three Vt river trout . I have not got a rainbow this season yet but have got lots of brown trout and brook trout. So I put back 97-99 % of my yearly catch. So far this season the best I have got are a 13in brown and a 17 inch brown 19in brown and then 3 days ago I got a 24 in brown trout. 13 trust
Damn man you can fish. Went to Bomoseen with the wife and kid, got there late on a Fri. Went out to check it out, son caught his first bass, then another, then I caught a couple smallies, wife nailed a 5.25 Larry and 2 mins later I got a 3.25 smallie. I usually fish for LM but had the idea of trying out some smallie fishing.. VT is an amazing place to fish. First time Ice fishing, went to VT.. caught 3lb LM through the ice and wife pulled up a 5. St Catherine .. now we try to go to Vermont every weekend .... Nice video. Would love to see some secret spots at Bomo hahaha
Brian James Bomoseen can be tough. I hadnt been there in years , but last year I went for a tournament and caught 21.8lbs for 5 bass. Also caught a 5.4 during prefishing a couple days before the tournament.
For sure they will, and definitely do. A ned rig or tube works great also. Just be sure to pay attention to your line, because smallmouth will swallow those baits very quickly compared to a largemouth. Thanks for watching.
Were you throwing tubes? With all I have invested in tackle, rods and reels and now a fishing kayak I badly need a day like this, it would make my soul so happy lol
shred5 A good majority of my 5 plus pound smallies are caught in small bodies of water each year. Champlains smallmouths are getting bigger each year it seems though. Im catching many over 5-5.5lbs now, when ten years ago they were pretty rare.
@@woodsnweedsoutdoors.2214 I camped at Button Bay State Park up in Vergennes on Champlain and the fishing there was great! My last night there was at the end of a cooler day after a long heatwave, and I was catching 3lb+ smallies every single cast. A young girl fishing next to me lost her senko and was catching them on nothing but a red hook and they hammered that too. The largest I got that trip was a 4.5lb, and my youngest son caught one about the same size but it flopped off his hook and back into the water before I could weigh it.
Uh this place is absurd. I'm a lifelong NH resident and (to my knowledge 😂) there are only a handful of places here where you can consistently catch smallmouth that big. If I were you I wouldn't even reply to comments asking where you are lol... although the 3+ hr drive up to northern VT makes it prohibitive for most of New England's population that lies in the southern part of the region.
That’s why fishermen don’t like each other, this guy is sharing a fishing video and everybody is trying to snitch the lake ,if you guys know the lake keep it for yourself and stop doing that.
Awesome smallies. You weren’t kidding GIANT!

I remember catching an 8lb Larry in a Vermont pond. Crazy to see that in the northeast.

What's the best lure to use in Vermont for small mouth? Will they hit a 5" senko like largemouths?

My PB was caught in a lake much smaller than this in Vermont - 23.5" smallie, did not have a scale but it may have been over 6lbs.
