    Can you do a follow up video of a trip out with it? How did everything function for you? How’d the motor run? How stable was the boat with the deck up front? Did your tunes scare away the fish? 😂 And lastly, another idea would be to add a cut out in the floor. Use a big hinge and pop a cooler in it. Utilize the space under your floor. Good job on the build, I’m excited to see how she handled the water! Update update update!

    Looks nice BUT one thing to remember everything you add weight wise in your build, flooring, decks, heavier seats, motors and batteries you really need to subtract from the total weight the boat is designed to carry.
    Also the lower and deeper the boat will draft.
    The more weight the slower your boat will be when using the motor either gas or trolling.
    These days since the prices have dropped so much for LIPO4 batteries that is the way to go as with a standard wet cell you can only run them down to half as any further will damage the batteries, Lipos you can run down to 80% even 100% with no damage and the batteries will last longer to boot.
    Not to mention the Lipo battery will weigh less than half the weight of the wet cell battery.
    Also every hole you cut and hole you drill in that boat you are making another entry point for water to get into the pontoons, if you drill make sure you seal everything the best you can with a good silicone sealant.
    These plastic boats I think are better when kept in a more minimalist state and if you want a floor use like anti fatigue mats from Harbor Freight, fairly light will give you a better surface more comfortable for your feet and inexpensive to boot.
    You also should get a small like lawn and garden battery to power your depth finder separately, you will probably get interference when you are running your trolling motor on the same battery.
    But nice work and very clean looking, we all approach these things with a different mindset.

      I was thinking the same thing with all them new holes. He has a lot of siliconing to do. If I add anything to my 8 ft angler it’s just gonna be a 55 lb thrust trolly and maybe make a front deck compartment that is no intrusive to the vessel. something that will fit snug upfront

    YEA Man , you got the most customized Quest Angler Boat on UA-cam I'm defiantly going to buy one, and I'm only one state away from you in Washington, so you come and customize mine when I get it May, Haw, Haw, Haw I'll get my buddy to do a build like yours and that trailer fits perfectly on that boat I'm going to Lowes and get that to. I wasn't sure if I wanted one until I saw all the reviews on UA-cam but your is the best mods I don't think I'd need the light stick as I'm never going out at night, But dude you ROCK. Thanks.

    • @boltfiend
      @boltfiend  Рік тому

      As of now the boat just sits on the trailer but ive since added a plywood floor to the trailer. It lifts off easily with no issues but without a floor on the trailer the aluminum can be pretty sharp and scratch the boat if youre not careful.

    Very nice. I’m looking to do something like this. How did it handle on the water?

    • @boltfiend
      @boltfiend  5 місяців тому +1

      It handles great on the water. When using the trolling motor the outboard acts as a rudder and really helps steering. I have heard of folks having trouble steering without a rudder or an outboard acting as one. The outboard maxes out at about 7mph with 1 or 2 people and gear. I tried removing gear and with just myself on board and the speed difference was negligible, maybe .5 mph. If transporting in the bed of my truck it helps to remove both motors and reattach once the boat is launched.
      Thanks for watching!

  • @locker1325

    I think your boat is more in the 889 to 999 range. The 8 ft version might be 699. Not sure why you don't know what you paid for it. Is the deck up front for storage because I don't see the point of a casting deck. Very surprised you didn't opt for a lipo battery. Much lighter. The radio is nice. I wonder if your boat is going to be ass heavy with all your stuff in the rear.

  • @jeepers29SK
    @jeepers29SK Місяць тому +1

    Nice setup. I just bought a raider 8 of facebook to be used on some small lakes. I am curious how you attached items to the boat. Did you use rivnuts or just screw into the plastic? I would think that just using screws would not have any strenght. Thanks for your insight.

    • @boltfiend
      @boltfiend  Місяць тому

      @jeepers29SK Thanks for checking out my setup! I used medium sized lag screws to mount the deck to the front of the boat and smaller metal screws for the smaller things on the boat such as the oar holders, lights and any wiring. I sealed all screws with marine silicone. I'm not hard on my boat and haven't had any issues with anything not holding up. It's been 2 years now that I've owned this boat and every trip out has been great with zero issues.

    In Oregon and I’m in Washington, would you consider selling your Boat to me, however I do not want the gas motor as I’d be fishing small lake where I live and they do not allow gas motors only electric. I would want you to make some money for your build as I’m not as skilled as you,and I’m 65 I do not know what part of Oregon you’re in
