100% agree with your comment about an extra strap. When you're targeting health conscious people and you know they are going to use this specifically (apart from other things) for their daily workout, the leather strap would die in 2 weeks from sweat with just a 10 mins run.
I Truly believe Samsung should focus on others things as a priority other than health and fitness for the normally "Galaxy Watch" Line. You have that "Active" line for that. For ALL my friends and I, half of the features are Useless. Not to sound ignorant or arrogant. But we are young we don't care to check our heart rate. We run for sports we don't care to track it. Every young person I know finds these health and wellness features pointless. I know we aren't the only market but we are a huge one!
10K I totally agree. A study done early this year found 1 of 5 Smartwatch owners used them for fitness tracking. And Give us a basic smartwatch with better battery life than 2 days. This watch is just a clone of the AW2.
The Gear S3 Frontier LTE is my sentimental favorite. The battery can go for more than a full-day three years after I bought it. Many go on about the S3 Frontier's MST feature and it is a good thing to have. Even at that I haven't had a problem with my Galaxy Watch when using Samsung Pay at any point-of-sale terminal in the past twenty months. I have the Galaxy Watch 3 arriving this morning by 10:30 AM EDST. The one concern I've had for all of my smartwatches, dating back to my Gear Watch of October 2013, is pervasive moisture infiltration from perspiration especially during the humid summer months but, thankfully, I've not had a problem with that to-date. I clean the watch cases with a microfiber cloth such as you would use for cleaning sunglasses.

The band it arrived with seems durable enough though I'm eyeing a cognac-colored leather band from a deactivated watch. The responses on the Galaxy Watch 3 are notably crisper. The action of the rotating bezel has a more positive detente. Very nice watch.

True my galaxy watch 46mm lte chrome looks brand new still, and never had a single issue with it! My galaxy watch does about the same amount of things as the new one. Only more storage which I don't use on my galaxy watch anyways

I had the Galaxy Watch on a Black Friday deal last year, best price. Returned after 2 weeks because I couldn't stand Bixby, it didn't understand anything I'd say or didn't do anything correctly apart from showing the weather. Seriously, worse than the Bixby on my phone. My normal travel apps (G maps and citymapper) don't work on it either. And they have the guts to boast about their google partnership. Bring me app compatibility and I'll jump right back in.

Good review and also objective, probably it's the best watch on the market today but not worth an upgrade for those who own the old model and in my opinion even the frontier (that I think was the most good looking made for man smartwatch ever) I personally hate leather straps and you are right that Samsung should also add a silicon strap for that price, Mainly that this watch is made to track workouts (leather and sweat do not smell and look good). also, the battery life is disappointing, I wish Samsung would understand that a smartwatch is not only a gadget - it is also a piece of jewelry and as such, any small change also needs serious and well-founded judgment
stay away from samsung smartwatches or any Samsung product. if anything happens to them, doesn't matter when u bought it the warranty never covers them. they never accept their products are faulty and they ask a brand new product price to repair the devices. so samsung warranty is rubbish and u should never rely on their warranty.

Nice review - nice watch - unfortunately, still at the mercy of the Tizen appstore that has very very few useful apps...maybe that will change with this release. I also see this dropping 20% by holidays. A TicWatch Pro 2020 for half the price is looking just as good (and more Google apps)
I had w TWP 4g/ LTE for a month and decided to return it. For me WearOS looks like a beta. Choice of apps is not so big and I didn't use an assistant at all. But it cost half the price of GW3.
I have just ordered the Tab S7+ so will wait for next year's Galaxy Watch but this is an improvement over the first Galaxy Watch which I was disappointed with.

Most of reviews of the original galaxy watch talk about it not being worth the upgrade from the S3, and now everyone is saying the same for the galaxy watch 3. I don't mind since I plan on upgrading anyways. I only wish samsung would've made an all stainless steel galaxy wtach 3 instead of the dual-tone mystic silver with black and silver as the design. I'll be getting the mystic black watch as soon as I preorder the fold 2 on september 1st to get that $200+ credits towards the watch.
Why are you making this tough on me!! I'm always a WearOS supporter (it needs work but if Google can fix the issues, WearOS would be a real contender in the wearable market) at heart but damn, this is one sexy watch (esp when compared to the Suunto). As a smartwatch putting fitness metrics aside, If I could only have ONE watch...GW all the way!
I guess I’ll go with an older galaxy watch or active watch two or a garmin. Yes I have an iPhone but i don’t care, I don’t like the dainty look of an Apple Watch.
What they did fail on is Battery, should have keep a larger one in the Watch 3. And like you say price is up there and Garmin and even Polar makes way better watches for tracking, what I use much is LTE and that is the problem around here..:) AW for iPhone and Samsung for android/samsung is kind of the only options. :)
Overall this is a disappointment. Slightly more storage (8GB, up from 4GB) but less active memory (1GB, down from 1.5GB) when compared to the Samsung Active 2. Everything else is basically the same.
Just ordered on Costco and it was $10.00 cheaper but they are including a second band, there was no info on it but I would bet it is a rubber or silicone band. So we will see in a couple days.
I currently own the galaxy watch. I would love to upgrade because of the new sensors and 'upcoming' features especially blood pressure. But i'm still unsure about the accuracy as i ve heard of the galaxy watch(tho mine seems pretty accurate except steps) any opinions?
Still testing it but I can tell you a few things. Steps are still way off, as usual with Samsung watches. The GPS has been greatly improved, seems to be about 2/10 of a mile off. Automatic workout detecting also works great. Lastly, HR has been improved as well and the new UI is smooth and nice looking for sure.
Unsure if this is ever worth the upgrade from the gear s3 which I have on my wrist right now. 3 years later, works perfecty and not a scratch on it. Worth the risk??
I can get it cheap right now through my work because it's a Samsung partner for $350. I still don't know if it's worth because the active 2 is $230 and galaxy watches in the past can't even properly track a push-up correctly. If it had the same fitness settings as the active 2 I'd buy it. Otherwise you're spending $100 more for just an appearance.
there is one point that i am surprised hardly ayone raise with that samsung watch its the fact that once pairs with your samsung phone , you can offcourse get the call and answer from your watch, but if you receive a call on whatsapp or other app like viber you can't answer directly from the watch which i found to be a shame for such an expensice watch on the other side if you pair the samsun watch with an IPHONE, you do get the calls directly on the watch and you can even answer them from there which is very practical its been months waiting for that to be fixed but seems samsung is not in rush... anyone else with that problem?
And one more thing again I may be wrong about this but it looks like you have two more premium on that's titanium the mystic black so I know I have to watch active 2 but I have the stainless steel version which costed more and I don't regret it because I wanted that more heavy premium nice black watch so maybe yours was a little more expensive because of the kind of watch you got and maybe not I don't know either way they are getting up there and price
Bro from what I understand the watch is ready it's just getting the United States or whatever to approve it unless I'm wrong but for me I don't see that they release the half-baked product for example that's just like saying that Samsung release a half-baked note 20 because 5G is not available yet wow what are they waiting on and who are they waiting on for 5G that technology and Hardware are in the devices themselves so I don't think you can hardly blame Samsung maybe in their advertising even then they expect for it to be coming out soon supposedly I'm just saying I had to call that out

It should last much longer than 3 years. I still use my Huawei watch 2 that I've had for 3 years. I ordered this watch though. It's time for something else. I haven't owned a non-wearOS watch before so it's going to be much different.
It should but that's when the battery will really start to degrade and more importantly,you get the urge to upgrade to a newer watch for some new features.ive seen people still rock the s2.

i had a frontier samsung watch, i sent it back 5 times in 1.5 years. 4 times they said they replaced inside, 5th time they said it was fine. i swaped my frontier samsung watch for my sisters galaxy watch and...... same thing. the samsung watches fail alot at wireless pay, they fail at terminals they sometimes worked on before and after and all terminals were local and never failed on the s9 plus using both samsung pay or google pay. sam,sung have in my opinion lied about wireless payon watches as its a fail rate between 2-4 times out of 10. yep its that unreliable. They even said theyd get it sorted even if warrenty ran out and when they returned it 5th time they wanted video footage proof. thats right they told me, a customer to film the watch failing to prvove it on the fith time. SAMSUNG SUCK. i could sue them as i feel i have enough emails saved and i could film it to prove it but im lazy. bought a p30 pro moving to and trying fitbit as i only want a watch for wireless pay and samsung cant provide that. If anyone needs proof leave a reply ill send you thsome of my many chats with them. its no joke.

@rrobertt13 Apple submitted their watch for U.S. bio-medical approval before COVID crisis. Samsungs submission was stalled by COVID etc. Samsung has part supplier contracts with dates and they need to sell watches etc to pay them. So they can't wait for U.S Bio-medical approval to begin selling their watches. So the features mentioned are currently in use in Asia but are turned off on the U.S. watches until U.S. gets its act together.
When the apple watch first came out with the ECG it also didn't have the feature active for months after release. It is all because of the FDA testing they do to have that product in the watch.
Since this watch comes complete or will at some later date with blood pressure reading capability Apps the cost, although exorbitantly high, it's still worth having for me. The convenience of wearing a watch to assist with healthcare, as oppose to having to use devices outside the watch is so cumbersome. But, until this watch becomes an absolute necessity that I can't do without, I'll wait.
Nope. Just nope. Nothing classy about this watch lol. No attention to detail and the huge gap between the strap and watch makes it look extra cheap. At this price. Forget it. This is a big swing and a miss for Samsung. This combined with the new buds live. Which are a lateral move at best. Their new note lineup Isn't impressive for the price either.. the new tablets are nice but too pricey for most people. I haven't seen the Z slip 2 yet. But I have my doubts on that one too.
This watch is the biggest piece of crap out of anything i have ever purchased. It overheats 5 minutes into a call, hangs up , shows and overheat message and then turns off the LTE network. It could be i got a bad watch - but i am thinking this is just a piece of crap . It arrived late this afternoon and has crashed 3 times like that. i have already printed the return label - save your time and money and do not buy this
So for someone that doesn't have the Galaxy Watch 46mm or any smartwatch yet but wants one, go the the Galaxy Watch 3 45mm or the much cheaper Galaxy Watch 46mm? I am so conflicted at the moment. The one thing that I don't like about the Galaxy Watch is that you can only charge it with it's dock an not do Qi wireless charging like the 3 can, or am I wrong and, from Galaxy Watch users, is it that much of a deal breaker?

According to the Samsung specs, the new Watch 3 adds Galileo satellites which is more accurate than the GSP or Glonass.
It's not just the sensors,it's what the software does with them and how it interprets the data .
I don't understand to samsung, introduces a killer feature like MST in Gear S3 and then abandons it the following models. I'll keep my Gear S3.

I'm always a WearOS supporter (it needs work but if Google can fix the issues, WearOS would be a real contender in the wearable market) at heart but damn, this is one sexy watch (esp when compared to the Suunto). As a smartwatch putting fitness metrics aside, If I could only have ONE watch...GW all the way!

The stitching on the leather band looks dreadfully cheap. I prefer the leather band of the Gear S3. Plus, that watch did include a sport band as well.
I guess I’ll go with an older galaxy watch or active watch two or a garmin. Yes I have an iPhone but i don’t care, I don’t like the dainty look of an Apple Watch.
What they did fail on is Battery, should have keep a larger one in the Watch 3.
And like you say price is up there and Garmin and even Polar makes way better watches for tracking, what I use much is LTE and that is the problem around here..:)
AW for iPhone and Samsung for android/samsung is kind of the only options. :)

Wish Samsung would make larger bands, had the same problem with the Frontier.
Overall this is a disappointment. Slightly more storage (8GB, up from 4GB) but less active memory (1GB, down from 1.5GB) when compared to the Samsung Active 2. Everything else is basically the same.
They are $699 here in Australia for the bigger watch3 and $649 for the smaller one.

Just ordered on Costco and it was $10.00 cheaper but they are including a second band, there was no info on it but I would bet it is a rubber or silicone band. So we will see in a couple days.

I currently own the galaxy watch. I would love to upgrade because of the new sensors and 'upcoming' features especially blood pressure. But i'm still unsure about the accuracy as i ve heard of the galaxy watch(tho mine seems pretty accurate except steps) any opinions?
Still testing it but I can tell you a few things. Steps are still way off, as usual with Samsung watches. The GPS has been greatly improved, seems to be about 2/10 of a mile off. Automatic workout detecting also works great. Lastly, HR has been improved as well and the new UI is smooth and nice looking for sure.

I can get it cheap right now through my work because it's a Samsung partner for $350. I still don't know if it's worth because the active 2 is $230 and galaxy watches in the past can't even properly track a push-up correctly.
If it had the same fitness settings as the active 2 I'd buy it. Otherwise you're spending $100 more for just an appearance.

there is one point that i am surprised hardly ayone raise with that samsung watch
its the fact that once pairs with your samsung phone , you can offcourse get the call and answer from your watch, but if you receive a call on whatsapp or other app like viber you can't answer directly from the watch which i found to be a shame for such an expensice watch
on the other side if you pair the samsun watch with an IPHONE, you do get the calls directly on the watch and you can even answer them from there which is very practical
its been months waiting for that to be fixed but seems samsung is not in rush...

It should last much longer than 3 years. I still use my Huawei watch 2 that I've had for 3 years. I ordered this watch though. It's time for something else. I haven't owned a non-wearOS watch before so it's going to be much different.
It should but that's when the battery will really start to degrade and more importantly,you get the urge to upgrade to a newer watch for some new features.ive seen people still rock the s2.

i had a frontier samsung watch, i sent it back 5 times in 1.5 years. 4 times they said they replaced inside, 5th time they said it was fine. i swaped my frontier samsung watch for my sisters galaxy watch and...... same thing. the samsung watches fail alot at wireless pay, they fail at terminals they sometimes worked on before and after and all terminals were local and never failed on the s9 plus using both samsung pay or google pay. sam,sung have in my opinion lied about wireless payon watches as its a fail rate between 2-4 times out of 10. yep its that unreliable. They even said theyd get it sorted even if warrenty ran out and when they returned it 5th time they wanted video footage proof. thats right they told me, a customer to film the watch failing to prvove it on the fith time. SAMSUNG SUCK. i could sue them as i feel i have enough emails saved and i could film it to prove it but im lazy. bought a p30 pro moving to and trying fitbit as i only want a watch for wireless pay and samsung cant provide that. If anyone needs proof leave a reply ill send you thsome of my many chats with them. its no joke.

@rrobertt13 Apple submitted their watch for U.S. bio-medical approval before COVID crisis. Samsungs submission was stalled by COVID etc. Samsung has part supplier contracts with dates and they need to sell watches etc to pay them. So they can't wait for U.S Bio-medical approval to begin selling their watches. So the features mentioned are currently in use in Asia but are turned off on the U.S. watches until U.S. gets its act together.
@rrobertt13 good point. Nevertheless ECG, Blood Pressure and O2 is working now in Asia. U.S. watches are held up by the bureaucracy.
When the apple watch first came out with the ECG it also didn't have the feature active for months after release. It is all because of the FDA testing they do to have that product in the watch.

Since this watch comes complete or will at some later date with blood pressure reading capability Apps the cost, although exorbitantly high, it's still worth having for me.
The convenience of wearing a watch to assist with healthcare, as oppose to having to use devices outside the watch is so cumbersome.
But, until this watch becomes an absolute necessity that I can't do without, I'll wait.

This is a big swing and a miss for Samsung. This combined with the new buds live. Which are a lateral move at best. Their new note lineup Isn't impressive for the price either.. the new tablets are nice but too pricey for most people. I haven't seen the Z slip 2 yet. But I have my doubts on that one too.
This watch is the biggest piece of crap out of anything i have ever purchased. It overheats 5 minutes into a call, hangs up , shows and overheat message and then turns off the LTE network. It could be i got a bad watch - but i am thinking this is just a piece of crap . It arrived late this afternoon and has crashed 3 times like that. i have already printed the return label - save your time and money and do not buy this

So for someone that doesn't have the Galaxy Watch 46mm or any smartwatch yet but wants one, go the the Galaxy Watch 3 45mm or the much cheaper Galaxy Watch 46mm? I am so conflicted at the moment. The one thing that I don't like about the Galaxy Watch is that you can only charge it with it's dock an not do Qi wireless charging like the 3 can, or am I wrong and, from Galaxy Watch users, is it that much of a deal breaker?
If you have the $$$ the GW3 is awesome but the 46mm does the job perfectly fine at less than half the cost if you're looking to save some dough
