The real start of federer getting older 30+ in 2011 thats why novak started winning because back then novak got lucky to get 1 slam in 2008 but he easily get destroyed by federer before fed hits age 30 13-6 easy win in favor of federer
Fed at this time would NEVER have thought this kid who only had 1 slam comparing to his 16 would now have 24 slams under his name and become the undisputed GOAT in tennis.
This match was a tight match, federer’s adrinaline rush coming at the wrong moments, thats it. 1st set was a tie break, in the second set, federer got broken while serving for the set. And in the third set federer got broken early, and djoker got broken back, it was a good match, not a superhuman match
Federer played ok - 2011 he was already in slump - djokovic was just playing great in 2011, recall though that only federer beat him convincingly at French
meditating010 Federer’s form from 2010-2013 is what ultimately will cost him in the final tally of GS’s. Nadal and Djok haven’t had a loss of form quite as lengthy as Fed did back then. He just seemed to lose matches in a similar sort of way time and time again. I think Fed and Djok stand alone when it comes to the GOAT debate, their levels of consistency are something else. But I’m sure Rafa fans could make a strong case too.
Aleksa Teemo no he wasn’t, this AO Simon takes him to 5 sets. Wimbledon and US open he squanders a 2 set lead to Tsonga and Djok respectively, a peak Fed wouldn’t let slip a lead like that. 2012 FO he has a peculiar loss to Djok in FO and then loses to Berdych in the QF at US open. So no, nowhere near his peak.
Back then in 2011 who would have thought that this young Djocovic might equal the number of grand slams with king of tennis RF. It is absolutely stunning to see the journey of Djocovic until today with players like Nadal, Federer, Murray, Wawrinka, Delpotro, Medvedev, Rubluv, Dominic Them and he is fighting to be the best. Great inspiration.
This certainly is one of the best matches of 2011! You can see the Novak monster borning and growing in this match! Elastic and relentless defense, heavy groundstrokes, spead, gritty, mental toughness! I never saw Roger defeated in 3 straights with him playing in such a high standard the whole match! Roger created the Djokovic monster!!!
4 things Novak did throughout his career against Roger & Rafa better than any other player in history! 1. make them hit more backhands then they'd like 2.dictate the rallies/ match more than they do 3. get them out of balance 4. outlasting them in the rallies! Those 4 things are so hard that he's the only player that managed to do so frequently!
You kidding? I'm a huge Fed fan and I love that match-up. It's a classic, and they've had some epics at the Grand Slams, especially Wimbledon. I don't ignore Rafa's superior record over him though. He's definitely got how to play Rog figured out!
Federer juega mejor. Pero djokovic es un frontón. Una pared de frente. Como decir es un nadal pero mas talentoso. Pero para mi en mi opinión eso no quita que federer juegue mejor. Eso
I wouldn't say he played the best he ever has. Definitely not poorly though. The main issue with 2011 Fed was that he was kind of fat until the clay season came around lmao.
This is probably the dumbest ever comment lmao, a few months later, Federer on his worst surface proceeds to molest prime djokobitch in RG. 2011 djokobitch is the best HE ever played. 2004-2007 Federer and 2017 Federer, all forms of which djokobitch "coincidentally" hid from, would have used djokobitch like a toy just like prime Federer did in the US open lol
@@peka8391 I think he would never reach the level he played in 2011 or 2015-16 again but he has become so complete as a player that it makes up for it e.g improved serve, volley etc.
2011 is better than 2015 Nadal reached finals 10 times Nadal is beating each and everybody and losing to Djokovic in the end Nadal wants to repeat 2010 in 2011 but things didn't go well for Nadal actually lost 6 finals to Djokovic in 3 surfaces. Nadal was in Top form and 25 years old actually he wants to be best by winning 1. French open 2. Wimbledon 3. US Open like like 2010 Djokovic destroyed Nadal dreams completely he finished Nadal completely on grass that it became least favorite surface to Nadal after 2011 Wimbledon. He took 5 years to reach semifinals at Wimbledon. In 2018 Nadal wants to be goat by being best in 3 surfaces winning major titles It got slowed down because of Djokovic In winning major titles Djokovic ended Nadal outside the clay since 2011. 2011>2015 for me Federer played great but at least but did he reached 10 finals in 2015 like Nadal Federer didn't win major title in 2015 But Nadal won French open title in 2011. 2011>2015
I've never seen Roger play some long rallies this good. But somehow Novak was able to handle it. Down 2-5 in the second set and then won 7-5? This guy is really a mental beast...
You fanatics seem to forget that in 2019 Wimbledon Federer controlled Djokovic with 14 more points, more aces, winning the long rallies, less unforced errors and at the end lost by missing the last point. And the man was almost 38 years old. When his most dangerous rivals are disabled or old he wins. In 2018 Federer reached 20 GS, Nadal had 14 and NoVax DjokeCovid 14. These 3 players were pros playing in the same tournaments. He started to win easy GS when the best players were old or injured. Alcaraz was injured and he won. Is easier to win like that. Between these.players Federer, Nadal and NoVax DjokeCovid in that order are the best of their generation. Novax has the best physique and the sickest brain. Number. In bad behavior and breaking racquets.
9:10 I love that extended grunt from Novak. He came back from 2-5 down to win the set 7-5. He finished the set with his trademark backhand down the line winner. I love to see the fire in Novak's eyes after that point. 🔥🎾🇷🇸
Indeed, indeed!!... I consider this extended grunt to be iconic for a lot of reasons and I'll explain why: 1. It was a longer grunt as if he already knew before hitting the shot it was going to be a clean winner, and he knew indeed. 2. He came back from 5-2 in that set, and to do that against Roger, who was playing really well by the way, is remarkable. 3. He first became top 10 in March 2007 and already from July on that year was mostly established in the top 3. In other words, he'd been knocking on the door for quite some time. 4. But even so, he was still struggling with his health problems that would frequently cause him trouble... By the beginning of 2011, he had already figured that out by removing gluten from his diet. That was just like cutting off the chains and cuffs which were preventing a wild animal to run free. 5. At the same time he knew that shot was going to be a winner, it was also as if he was already aware of his potential to be one of the greatest (up until then he was far from it), and deep inside he knew that. All geniuses probably have kind of a gut felling about it. 6. To be at the top in that context was to challenge not only Roger, the best to ever have picked up a racket, but also Rafa, another giant. It is never easy to break through when there is already an established rivalry so iconic as Federer vs Nadal. 6. That grunt said: "I am here, I know my potential and I am going to prove it on the court, you'll see that happen" 7. Beating Roger in this match (more so than the final against Murray), marks the unleash of this beast with a racket named Djokovic that he became that year... and he went on to guarantee there would be this three-fold entity called Big 3: the Lion, the Bull and the Wolf.
The way Djokovic plays against Federer when his back's against the wall is unbelievable, from 2011 all the way to present. As an unabashed Federer fan, I still have to admire it.
Always fun to rewatch this stuff. Djokovic had 1 GS, Federer had 16. Had Djokovic ever imagined that he would win at least 22 more? Federer would've never believed it, I bet it. Sheer will, determination, talent, hard work and belief in oneself. As if he was destined to.

Very very well said. I actually came back to watch this video specifically for this extended grunt because I also see the iconic nature of this moment esp in hindsight over a decade later. Federer and Nadal used to be mental hurdles for djokovic to overcome in terms of believing he could beat them. This grunt almost reversed that dynamic; from here on, djokovic became the man to beat that Fedal now had to chase after his diet change and mental fortitude training. In short, the wolf was born.
yea man well said. 2011 was the year djokovic unleashed the superhuman inside him and showed everyone who he is. I can't believe from then on he stopped federer in so many crucial games like he denied 3 wimbledon finals to roger omg then those 2 us open semifinals i still remember watching on tv couldn't believe. Unbelievable rallies and this match has convinced me. Novak Djokovic is the GOAT because he convincingly defeated the best of his generation.
And one of the best tennis season''s ever began .... the rest is history. It is a shame it took Djoko another 3 years after his first GS win (at the AO 2008) before he could sort out his alergy problems and related health issues. He would be holding the most GS titles by now for sure.

2015 Djokovic > 2011 Djokovic. The shots were definitely there in 2011 but the difference is the mental strength and consistency of his game in 2015. He was almost untouchable - especially in the important points
Along with 2015, 2019, and 2001... 2011 was one of Roger’s best years where he *didn’t* win a Grand Slam. He certainly didn’t play any worse than in 2010 at all. He was still the player in the spotlight that year but Djokovic started making one of his own and Rafa was getting back in his at the end of the year. Alcaraz 2022 with 1 Slam is far less from Nole 2011. The way Nole handled the match was crazily clever. He used his intelligence to combat against the most natural talent Federer. That's how Nole is. Playing tennis like a fox!!!
I have watched so much of Novak in the years since 2011, and I'm not sure I've seen this incredible level ever, despite it appearing several times during that season. Truly one of the most iconic seasons from a player ever, the most IMO.
What an incredible level of tennis in this match! How I missed this in all these years as a tennis fan? They both were playing out of their minds. Maybe this is common stuff for those demigods, but come on...Federer was playing some excellent tennis and Djokovic was like a machine that left no hopes.
Now at 20 slams, begrudgingly they’re starting to say he may be the greatest player of all time lol. Fed won’t win another so he’s stuck at 20, Novak? Hahaha. Hilariously, his opponents are still cheered even though he’s top seed for 2 years & beating EVERYBODY. I knew it the second he arrived on tour, and now it’s real. Rafa may win the French again but hard to see him win any other. Novak on the other hand, owns The Australian & arguably Wimbledon, only the US open is trickier for him, but Rafa’s not going to win there again anyway.
The mental toughness, the Athleticism, the determination from djokovic to come back from 5-2 in that second set was unnerving to watch
Why didn't he just give up on that set to conserve his energy? He did just that at Wimbledon 2019

Djokovic was superhuman in 2011.
In 2015 too
Ciprian Ghenghea no
Now again
but Federer stoped him at the French open. That was an epic match and destroyed noles Grand Slam
This match was a tight match, federer’s adrinaline rush coming at the wrong moments, thats it. 1st set was a tie break, in the second set, federer got broken while serving for the set. And in the third set federer got broken early, and djoker got broken back, it was a good match, not a superhuman match
That second set 2-5 7-5 might have been the shifting point between Rodger's and Djoko's dominations. A transmission of the crown.
The most terryfing thing is that Federer played well
Federer played ok - 2011 he was already in slump - djokovic was just playing great in 2011, recall though that only federer beat him convincingly at French
@@meditating010 Convincingly?LOL
meditating010 Federer’s form from 2010-2013 is what ultimately will cost him in the final tally of GS’s.
@@naveed210 2011-2012 fed was near peak.
Those 4 things are so hard that he's the only player that managed to do so frequently!

djokovic was insane in 2011, nearly unplayable.
I've never seen Roger play some long rallies this good. But somehow Novak was able to handle it. Down 2-5 in the second set and then won 7-5? This guy is really a mental beast...
A lot of the turning point was the changing of the aussie open courts it used to play so much faster.
Between these.players Federer, Nadal and NoVax DjokeCovid in that order are the best
of their generation.

I consider this extended grunt to be iconic for a lot of reasons and I'll explain why:
6. That grunt said: "I am here, I know my potential and I am going to prove it on the court, you'll see that happen"
7. Beating Roger in this match (more so than the final against Murray), marks the unleash of this beast with a racket named Djokovic that he became that year... and he went on to guarantee there would be this three-fold entity called Big 3: the Lion, the Bull and the Wolf.

Federer fans starting saying he was too old even though he was only 29 at the time 😂
In this match federer was 29 and nole 23, so only a 6 years age gap!
When djokovic won gold against alacaraz, their age were 37 and 21!
16>6 a lot harder
24>20 more grand slam
Simple math..
I appreciate you making the video being obviously a fan of RF!! Thank you!
Coming back from two breaks against Federer is astonishing
What a high quality match, Federer actually played very well but Djokovic's performance was unreal
Just passing through on my journey to watch every Federer match.
God Mode Djokovic
Alcaraz 2022 with 1 Slam is far less from Nole 2011. The way Nole handled the match was crazily clever. He used his intelligence to combat against the most natural talent Federer. That's how Nole is. Playing tennis like a fox!!!
I have watched so much of Novak in the years since 2011, and I'm not sure I've seen this incredible level ever, despite it appearing several times during that season. Truly one of the most iconic seasons from a player ever, the most IMO.
Most important season from a player in the history of tennis
Magnífica victoria. Que puntazos
Novak has ridiculous firepower in this game, I've never seen him like this.
That second set is lethall from both players ,insane high level tennis
That break point for 4-2 in the second set was absolutely insane
What an incredible level of tennis in this match! How I missed this in all these years as a tennis fan?
They both were playing out of their minds. Maybe this is common stuff for those demigods, but come on...Federer was playing some excellent tennis and Djokovic was like a machine that left no hopes.
2011: the GOAT was born...
Magnífico partido de parte de ambos
This year for djokovic was one of the all time greats. i don't think he's played quite at this level since 2011.
chris clark and then came 2015.
@@adithyanaren519 And the first half of 2016.
Pavle Drakulic and the second half of 2018.
@@hayabarakat7889 so why cant everybody stick to the baseline and wait for their opponents to make errors?
@@hayabarakat7889 He is far more aggresive now in 2019 , look what he did at the australian open , thats even better than this match
Two GOATs at it. How much better can it get?
The begining of the GOAT
You now what the funny thing i, when ever Federer and Djokovic faced each other in AO Semis, Djokovic wins the Tournament: AO 2008,2011,2016,2020
He actually won every time he made the semis
He wins the AO almost every time he shows up LOL
When Federer hits a good shot: "COME ON. That is amazini"
When Djokovic hits a good shot: ...
Novak on the other hand, owns The Australian & arguably Wimbledon, only the US open is trickier for him, but Rafa’s not going to win there again anyway.
just enjoy the quality of tennis... No doubt..Roger,Rafa and Djoker are the greatest of all time
Nole !!! Realmente un batallador incansable !!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
