I like how nole looks so happy even after he loses, he gets angry while playing the game but.. He actually was looking up to Roger.
Novak is really great with handshakes, always gracious in victory and defeat.
@@olivernaude3793 Yeah, he's so gracious when he cries for medical time outs when he's even remotely losing the match. And smashing rackets and hitting balls off line judges when he's still losing. Very humble guy

As a Fed fan, I'll always admire and respect Novak for being so gracious at the net, whether he won or loss. Sure it would be easy to do it the past decade, but for the first few years of their rivalry, he would lose most of the matches, but always graciously smiled and hugged Roger at the end.
It's not Roger's fault nor Djokovic s but federal fans could only celebrate the first 4 to 8 games later we know who became the goat
DJOKER🙂🐐
got to admit, Federer is a salty/sore loser while Novak is always offering a smile in defeat.
Things began to change on 2011 between these two. It's also incredible how many times Djokovic has won after saving match points.

Nole always greets every opponent at the net at the end of each match warmly, no matter whether his opponent is World #1 or World #600, and whether he wins or loses.
Something that needs recognition, and an example to follow by every player
I like how Federer was progressively more celebratory as Djokovic grew to be a more and more serious player.

@Anubhav Mahapatra you can see Novak's class in handling the defeats. Always with a smile, never salty. Biggest take away from this video- how much more gracious in defeat Djokovic is than Federer
How he'd always give a good handshake. Some might say Novak's over the top celebrations are tactless and ungracious.
Federer was still able to beat Djokovic from time to time but not in the important matches which shows how it was all mental.
Stamina is the key. Being 6 yrs older (when you are in your 30s) than Novak on slow courts means a lot in tennis. His body gives up in the end.
@@Aman-nk5uq Djokovic and Nadal are still beating younger players than them. Also don’t forget that when the big three meet usually it’s in the semi finals or finals so it’s not as a Federer is not playing a high-level and meeting them in the early rounds. Usually he was crushing everyone else before these losses. It’s all mental because when the stakes are not high like a round robin he is able to win but when it’s a slam even if he gets match points he chokes against Djokovic. But Tennis wise and physically he still had everything.
I guess Nadal becoming year end no.1 wasn't important.🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@whfan007 quick question: do u play any sport?
The big 3 getting older. The difference Novak getting older getting better..
I do not understand why people keep telling, Federer's prime period was between 2006 to 2011 (6 years) however Djokovic is still in his prime since 2011 (12 years and counting)...
Ehm, Sir, Djokovic is not is in prime
2011-2016 + 2018 were arguably his best years, but he's not in his prime
I am not a djokovic or federer fan boy but I noticed how Djokovic was so gracious in defeat every time but after when Federer got defeated he gives a blunt handshake. Or is it just me
No, I think Federer later on in their respective careers gave excellent handshakes to Djokovic even in defeats. Watch the last five minutes of this video.
Early on yeah a bit but later years Federer gave good handshakes
No one has harmed Federer as Nole did, so consistently...I remember all those Federer fans claiming over and over he was the GOAT, at the same time Djoker proved them otherwise, just imagine how Roger felt... He believed firmly in his head he was the best, eve if Nadal was eating the apple since quite the beginning of his prime, and now came a Joker who ate his confidence forever. Nobody nowadays would say Roger was the best in this sport, now everybody accept it is Novak
It was that moment that Roger realized Novak will surpass him. I like Federer and he was great, but he will forever be salty. He thought he was preordained to be the GOAT. Heck, we all thought that.

Its the rivalry where noone ever clearly could get on top of the other. Roger in his older years always managed to put some wins in there as well. The majority of big matches though clearly going to novak. He broke federer in the us open and wimbledon mentally multiple times
Incorrect. Djokovic is clearly on top.
@David H. Ospina You mean the ones where Djokovic won all of them?
Yeah it began specifically during the 2 US Open semis during 2010-2011 where Federer had multiple match points but snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, last year's Wimbledon final was just pathetic mental incapacity to press home his advantage despite out playing Novak case in point during the first set tie break he missed 2 sitter forehands & those fine margins were the difference between winning & losing!!!
I think even the 2015 US Open final where he had like 23 break points against Novak & only converted like I think 2!!! WTF!!!
@David H. Ospina well - those Matches, except for the 2015 final were mightily close. Novak won the bigger ones and though has an egde. What i am pointing out is that he could never supress Roger for an entire season or longer period of time - other then nadal. Roger always managed sensible wins during that period ( french open 2011, wimby 2012, dubai and shanghai 14, dubai 15 + WTF 15 and so on ) + multiple super close matches that he lost.
@@tvtotalforever You're contradicting yourself. The fact that Novak has had long stretches of dominance with Rodger sneaking in a win here and there proves the point that Novak has a clear advantage.
The US Open semi finals are the most memorable and exciting H2H for me
Always smiling and respectful at the net win or lose Djokovic
He is arrogant when he wins keep his tails when he loses federer emotes what he feels...most of the times he is relived with a nice smile ..somewhat arrogant when he won french in 2011..pumped after a win after 4 yrs in 2019 he look devasted after first loss in montreal..tough loss in us open 2011 and 2015...accepting his fate and missed chances in 2019 wimbledon..

One can detect some kind of a pattern, it's either easy win for one of them or a long and exhausting classic that goes almost exclusively Nole's way, barring Fed's one win at the RG 2011. It's incredible how these matches evolved into purely mental battles, where Djoko, even if not playing at his best or being for the most part of the match outplayed by Roger, eventually came on top due to relentless mental toughness, unshattered self-confidence and incredible defence. Paris classic in 2018 and Wimbledon final in 2019 are the best examples, even Djoko admitted that he had his back to the wall most of the time but was absolutely devoid of any self-doubt and utterly focused the whole time, unlike Fed, who, regardless of the match point, seemed like he did not believe that he could; hence Fed may triumph in the RR, where he can relax a bit, but crumbles in all the big finals;
That’s bc feds prime ended almost as soon as novaks prime started. So fed was destroying Novak in his prime (along with everyone else) and then he got older and Novak got into his and started destroying.
@@roberthays2883 Still doesn't change the fact that Fed had match points in some important matches and unfortunately choked. When Nole started rising in the 2nd half of Fed's prime the mental block began to develop. Fed has the skills to win, but not always the belief.
There are many ways to view the GOAT and many arguments to support one over the other. As they never really faced each other at their absolute prime it's very hard to choose. But for me personally it's Djoker, (even though Fed is probably the more naturally talented player) for two reasons: (1) Djoker has a complete enough game that he can adjust throughout a match, find an opponent's weakness, and exploit it - I don't recall anyone else being able to do this as well as him, if at all, and (2) in the most pressure filled moments, Djoker has some otherworldly ability to raise his game to another level - I've never seen anyone so good at this, I mean how many times has he been down by match points (even in his non-service games) and still managed to win?
agreed even though im a fed fanboy feds had too many chokes, and his backhands always been a liability except for 2017
Djokovic is the best bass liner without question and is the best defensive player outside clay. Federer’s game always had an element of risk to it but that makes him susceptible to errors in high pressure moments.
Well said and carefully analyzed, except that :
1) Federer is not "naturally" talented, no one is. Just have a look at his first years and you will see he was a dumber like others, he had to work had to reach his 2003 (and best said, 2004) level
2) Thsi is even more important : Djokovic has one master weapon, obviously it is his backand. Most great played have a defecting one, on the opposite Novak's one rarely fails and is even one of the best shot in tennis history. That's how he destroys all opposition. Without talking psychology (where Federer is not at all the mental sissy everyone's talking about), Djokovic is by far a most complete player. This H2H doesn't reveal it all because Djoko was still a teen when he first faced master Roger and that counts for at least 5 RF wins, Djoko gave up in a match (counting), Fed gave up before (not counting). The real score would then have been 30-20 for Djokovis at least. Still he prevails, that's the most important and the sign everything has to fall into place!
Novak is the best out of the big three but the aesthetics for me go to Federer. I stopped watching tennis after him.
even as a young guy, there was so much warmth in the way ND shook hands with RF at the net. Years later, this has only got better. Love U NOLE.

Transformation of Federer’s attitude: salty to humility
That's right!!
arrogant > salty > fearful > hateful
Yep, I think Djokovic is the most humble of the Big 3 in terms of how he responds to the loses. He always congratulates and praises his opponent even in defeats. Federer is also very humble at losing and has made huge improvements in the way he responds to his opponents in defeat where his handshakes and hugs have become much warmer over the years. I think Nadal has always been very salty in defeat and still is to this very day. I love Nadal as a player but not as a person because he is only humble at winning but not at losing. It's obvious there is a great sense of respect between Federer and Djokovic, Federer and Nadal. Can't say the same about Nadal towards Djokovic, obviously Djokovic respects Rafa too the same way as he does Roger.
@@pacifist1360 About Nadal, I think you are mistaken! Look at his post match press conference in 2011 US Open Final. He was praising Djokovic graciously. Nadal seems salty at handshake but It's actually his inability to hide emotions that quickly. Nadal is a very humble player and person as well.
@@zebunnesa9812 I was actually thinking the same, he talks extremely graciously towards Djokovic even during the loses, especially the 2018 Wimbledon semis and 2019 AO final, but the handshakes he gives don't show his humility. I was thinking he talks highly to the press about Djokovic because he respects Djokovic but doesn't like Djokovic personally as he does Roger. It also shows by the amount of exhibition matches these guys have played. I noticed Rafa's handshakes are much warmer when he loses to Roger than they are to Novak, but that's just my opinion, obviously I can be wrong. We can't really know what the players are like as a person or what goes on behind the scenes, I just commented what I observed.

When all players in history have played their best, Djoker is the best, to me. I wish he could do more on clay against Nadal, esp at the French, that would help his legacy a lot. Nadal is a close second, his improvement on hard court and US Open victories puts him above Federer, imo, he played amazing in those tournaments. Fed spent too much time early on playing weak players.
It will be clay after clay after clay....XDD

everyone hates losing to an opponent whom you have beaten more than you lose since the beginning of time, but roger gotta show tiny bit more respect when in the end of match when they do handshakes, as you may all see, Novak always congratulated Roger in a classic sportsmanship way even at a young age... on the other hand when Roger first started losing to Novak he didn't take it well at all, and didn't do the same for Novak, only till 2016 and later he realized he was truly beaten by Djoker in everyway of the game, he started showing that he wanted to congratulate him in a good sportsman kind of way...

As a major Fed fan, I have to say djokovic is much warmer towards roger when he loses than vice versa. Maybe its roger's style? Idk but I wish roger would be warmer towards novak when he loses. It is quite clear who is more salty most of the time in defeat. Objectively speaking, I prefer novak's grace in defeat more than roger's. Just my opinion. In a nutshell, quite a close H2H. Federer clearly better during his prime before Djokovic peaked and Djokovic clearly superior after he peaked and Federer entered his 30s. Despite this, they could always beat each other (although Federer went 4 years without beating Djokovic between 2015-2019). These guys are both GOATs in my opinion along with Nadal.
Exactly correct. Finally, here's a guy (Daniel) that knows his facts and scenarios and sees/analyzes things like it should be and the way I see it, too. Everyone on here with their opinions should read your comment. All three are too close to give one of them the clear GOAT. A couple points here and there and the major totals change drastically. On different surfaces each guy could be considered GOAT. There will always be a debate. No clear GOAT. These Novak Serbian fans are way to bias and disrespectful to Nadal and Fed. There were a few major tournament matches that Novak didn't deserve to win and was outplayed by Fed and Nadal.

Reality: all 3 great champions. Federer significantly older than Novak. And is incredible for nearly beating Novak at 2019 Wimbledon as a 37-38 yr ild.
He did beat him in the tour finals after Wimbledon aged 38 at that point.
Djokovic won more when both were in prime years too, look at like 2008-2014
The thing is that both Rafa and Roger got off to what appeared to be insurmountable leads against Djokovic and he has since 2011 ran them both down, passed them both by and why they appear to be declining Djokovic seems to still be at his peak.
Yeah Novak is 34 and Federer is 39 and well on his way to retirement. Only keeps playing for Wimbledon because he’s the only guy with a shot against Novak since next gen hasn’t figured grass out yet. So makes sense Fed bullied him when he was younger and Novak has dominated (except in 2012 Wimbledon) since.

They've really had some phenomenal matches between them. I always feel it's harsh to say one of them is better than the other just using their h2h.
In Federer's prime and when Novak was young Federer dominated their head to head, but as Novak came into his prime and Federer left his Novak began to dominate.
Novak only started leading the head to head in 2015/16 when Federer was 34/35 and Novak was 27/28.
I would have loved to see them have a few matches where they were both in their prime.
2009, 2010 and 2011 US Open semis where some good examples. Great rivalry, magnificent matches.
This logic is bogus! So Federer had no problems mopping the floor with the rest of the field starting from 2011, but suddenly he can’t do the same to Djokovic and Nadal and the reason why is because he got older?! Lmao Why couldn’t he beat Nadal on slow clay like ever?! Why did he allowed Nadal to beat him in 2008 Wimbledon, which is like his backyard all whilst still considered in his prime?! Why was their 2007 final a close match, wasn’t 2007 like Federer’s 2nd best peak season?! Why did he lose AO final to Nadal in 2009?! When back at the time he was supposed to be unbeatable on hard courts, just like on grass?! It all happened in his prime! Djokovic beat Federer in the semis of AO in 2008, while Federer was still in his prime! He pushed him to the limits at the 2007 USO final (yes it was straight set defeat, but a couple of points here and there might have decided any of those tie-breaks in favour of Novak rather than Roger…), not to mention that he beat Federer in Canadian masters a couple of weeks prior! The age excuse is only brought up when talking about competition with Djokodal almost always exclusively! But nobody is ever said anything how Federer had no problems dispatching the rest of the competitive field as easily past 2010 as he was doing it prior to 2010! The competition and overall field is not limited to only two (though very tough) players in order for this to use as age excuse!…When it comes to losing to Djokovic it is suddenly an age issue, but beating all the Tsonga, Raonics, Cilices and Nishikoris of this world suddenly doesn’t count! Lol
@@Summon256 Dude use your brain a little, Nadal and Djoko are miles ahead of Tsonga, Raonic, Cilic and Nishikori and therefore when Fed started to age, he lost more because he became too slow and too old to compete with the incredibly high standard Rafa and Nole played at. However, because there was a distinct difference in level, he could still beat worse players like Tsonga.... We are not saying he only lost to RN and ND because of his age, it's just an important factor in many matches (especially grand slams because the match is longer). Furthermore, all three players are pretty much on the same level and just because Fed lost matches in his prime doesn't mean he wasn't better those years (like Nole lost to medvedev and was still easily the better player that year).
The age factor is also brough up in h2h with nole because before 2011, Fed had the advantage in matches and nole defense wasn't able to keep up with fed aggression in most matches. However, past 2011 Nole (because he got better AND fed got worse and slower) could make the rally last longer and tired fed to wins (which is shown by his slam domination against fed in finals). An argument could therefore be made that if Nole and Fed had the same age, maybe Nole would have more difficulties dragging the match and Fed aggression could allow him to avoid the mental and physical battle of 5 sets finals (like he did before 2011 ) which caused him to greatly lose to Nole past 2013.
Get it !!!!
@@Summon256 You saw the comment and began to attack the comments mate chill ! Your logic is already so lame that it's contradicting. Why Nadal lost 2007,06 wimbledon finals to Federer?
I am sure you would bring that they weren't at their prime excuse but how come they are reaching finals defeating other players and only losing to Roger ? This is a difficult comparison, unlike Murray or Nadal, which are similar in age to Djokovic. At this point Novak has dominated Roger for several years in slams try 2012 Wimbledon. The drought recently was so huge for Roger, he practically jump 2 feet in the air after beating Novak in the Masters 2019. Don Killuminati, Nah c’mon it’s pretty clear that he wasn’t the same player and you could tell by the way he played. He was nowhere near as physical as he was in 2005. Plus, you chose a specific period of time there to make the stats look like Roger was as successful. 2003-2007 he made 16 semis but he wasn’t in his prime until the very end of 2003 and he hadn’t cracked RG yet until 2005. From 2008-2012, he was in his prime for 3 of those seasons, although 2008 he struggled with illness and injuries and 2010 he did start to decline I’ll admit. But if Roger from was still the same player from 2010-2012 then you’re saying that you think Berdych and Tsonga would’ve beaten Roger at Wimbledon from 2003-2008 + Soderling would’ve beaten him at RG from 2005-2009. We saw Roger dismantle him at RG 2009 then fail to beat him just a year later at RG 2010. I’m not saying that Roger wasn’t still a top 3 player from 2010-2012 and even a top 5 player from 2011-2016 but the fact is that his prime version would’ve wiped the floor with him and anyone else in his path.

Federed had dominated Novak when Novak was too young(Federer is 6 years older).Since Novak turned 23 he was distroying Federer.Federer age is not excuse because 2017 and 2018 he won 3 grand slams when Novak was injured.
Interstate Relocation It’s not an excuse. He is much older and relatively the fitness level drops and that’s a fact. Of course Federer won grand slams at the time because he’s still relatively much superior than most people are at his age. So when Novak was struggling, Federer did capitalise and that doesn’t mean his age is not a factor. Federer in 2003-2010 and even up till 2012 was a much different player who could stay and compete toe to toe from the baseline and obviously he has had to adapt his game to stay competitive.
Not everything is about making excuses. Roger was undeniably the dominant player when he was 23 and continued to do so till he was nearly 30. Then of course Novak took over. It’s as simple as that. I just don’t get this obsessive need of fans to establish who’s better. It honestly just reflects on your own insecurity about Novak’s accomplishments (which if you ask me is stupid because Novak clearly is the front runner in recent times).
Likewise Roger was too old to compete with players in their prime as he was declining himself by 2011. Can’t have it both ways
