    I recommend people go and watch the semi final between Federer and Wawrinka. Roger’s backhand was so vulnerable in that game, the contrast with how lethal his backhand was in this game is remarkable. I remember being worried that Nadal would take him to the cleaners but Federer seriously raised his game for the final.

      Rogers backhand turned into a rocket in this match🎉❤

    • @tehatte
      @tehatte 3 місяці тому +4

      There’s a reason. Nadal was too predictable attacking that side BUT his ball was more loopy than pace, and often not deep, so Federer chose to hit it early (on the rise), creating pace and angles, that’s why he had so many winners on that side. Wawrinka’s, or Djokovic’s crosscourt backhand has more pace, Federer wouldn’t have time to execute his backhand perfectly so he slices back more.

    • @SameerKhan-nf3no
      @SameerKhan-nf3no 3 місяці тому

      @@tehatte that makes no sense because Federer literally beat wawrinka in the exact same tournament in the match before this, so no neither wawrinka or Djokovic would stand a chance against this version of Rogers backhand... Djokovic was actually spared because Roger hurt his back like weeks before the us open...I actually thought he should've rested that one but Federer wanted us to see him back in action at a tournament he won 5 times in a row❤️

    • @tehatte
      @tehatte 3 місяці тому

      @@SameerKhan-nf3no Federer doesn’t beat others with just his backhand. His number one weapon is serve and volley. He and Wawrinka were pretty even but he served better. A few easy points in a close match make the difference. What happened if Djokovic played in AO 2017? You need to remember this. Djokovic has played Federer 5 times at AO and won 4. Now question for you: when was the last time and only time Djokovic lost to Federer at AO and why he lost?

    • @SameerKhan-nf3no

      @@tehatte you mean after they made those courts as slow as the us open? Strange that the courts ball speed was faster at the ao the one year Novak doesn't play...in any case Novak deserves those wins regardless, but if he faced Roger on that court in 17..it would be intense

      Difference is, Novak is a bit mentally stronger than Nadal, and is also pretty good on grass, Federer didn't learn much, from his semi finals, he hit a rushed approach shot against Nadal, on one mp, and got passed, Novak is going to make that pass, even on a bad day! He choked, and hit a terrible sliced forehand too, that drifted wide.

    I really struggle to understand how anyone that has followed the sport of tennis for 30 plus years could consider Djokovic to be the greatest to have played. I can't even make it though one of his matches without succumbing to boredom. I get that his numbers are great but he just lacks that X factor and magic that makes so many love sportsman like Federer or Jordan. I can remember in the mid 2000's I would jump at the chance to watch Federer play anyone regardless of ranking just to witness his latest magic trick (same with Jordan in the late 80's /early 90's). I can't imagine David Foster Wallace ever wanting to write about Djokovic.

All you said was Fed has an x factor and you loved watching him when you were a kid. So if another person idolises... for example David Ferrer, is he the GOAT? Not saying I don't think Federer fits in the GOAT debate category. I still think Federer, Nadal and Djokovic is the GOAT, but Djokovic clearly has more outstanding results than Federer.
