Marty Stuart and Jim Lauderdale are two musicians I could hear muse on country music all day long and never get tired. Jim seems so kind, articulate and humble. What an artist.
I've known Jim for about 40 years and I can attest to the fact that he's as nice a guy as you could ever want to meet. Genuine, personable, humble and kind!
Insightful, lovely interview. Jim is very transparent and real. I love his observations and advice on live performance and writing. Kudos and thanks to Jim and Otis. K, from AZ.🌵
I've Ben so lucky to see Jim Lauderdale several times in Bristol, VA at the Rhythm and Roots music festivals. He and his band are spot on, very entertaining, fantastic musicians. I look forward to seeing Jim and band in September. If you are anywhere near Bristol you should make it your busiest to attend this 3 day Festival.

What great insight into the mind of a great stage performer. "The audience isn't out there to perform for you." And his revelation of audience perception is priceless! Sometimes your performance is so excellent, so beautiful, that the audience absorbs the energy instead of reflecting it. If you don't know Jim Lauderdale's music very well, go see him live!
Otis, Thanks for having Jim Lauderdale on again, and George has been my favorite since 1981 , so I always want to hear about him. Appreciate you sharing with us!
Got to see Jim live once so far up here in New England. It was such a rare treat the audience was super appreciative which helped make it a joyous experience. Would jump at the chance to see him live again.
Hey Otis, this may have been the most instructional and inspirational video yet. I felt like Jim spoke to every musician in breaking down the experience we have all had playing in front of people. The stories were great too.
What a lovely and insightful conversation. Effortless to listen to both of you guys talk about a side of performing I've never experienced. Thank you very much, Otis.
Awesome interview with JL. Somewhat encouraging to hear legends such as him talk about dealing with insecurities. Go to see him in Macon, Georgia! Such a great performer and musician.

Hey Jim. As long as we’ve known each other I’ve not heard words like this that so perfectly describe the edge where the fight or flight response meets heart and soul. Also, after 36 stellar records released, I can’t wait to see what you are gonna do with that ball point pen in your hand. Love ya Buddy.
hi otis. nice job, thanks! request, if/when you talk with jim lauderdale again it would be great to hear him talk a bit about his working with the great robert hunter. cheers from mexico!
In George Strait's movie Pure Country he sang Jim's King of broken hearts and Where the sidewalk ends. Jim's a great song writer and singer but not commercially well known as he should be but people in the know know how good he is
I was waiting for that Gram Parsons "King of Broken Hearts" story....wish he'd gone into it a bit. His comments about how he has to fight tensing up on stage reminded me of "The Big Time," the opening cut on his great "Pretty Close to the Truth" album. That song is him talking to himself about that problem. And hey, I've been there too, not onstage, but in other situations where the pressure was on and I froze up.
You should check out Jim's new record, "My Favorite Place" and tell him Otis sent ya!

George Jones wasn't 1 in a million, he was 1 in 8 billion! There will never be another George Jones. Thanks to you and Jim for sharing the stories.

Mr Lauderdale is a very humble and likeable guy a real class act
Jim has such a smooth voice and cadence. My blood pressure dropped ten points by the end of the video. More great stories preserved. Thx Otis.
Jim is a national treasure in my book 🎶🎶🎶😀❤️

Got to back Jim on George Jones's "The race is on"... Memory I'll never forget!
Great insights on performing from Jim Lauderdale. Things I have personally felt numerous times over many years put into words perfectly. ☮️

George Jones story. Yes please.
I saw that show at the Flat Rock Playhouse.
Briefly met Jim at Merlefest I believe it was 2003 and saw him play a few times. Very cordial and definitely had a presence about him.
Another great one! Thanks for introducing me to Jim Lauderdale.

Some solid advice from Jim at the end there. Excellent.

Not gonna make it this year, but if they invite me, I'll be happy to be there in the future. ❤
