- Опубліковано 27 чер 2024
- In 2015 two men stowed away in the landing gear of a British Airways flight from Johannesburg to Heathrow. One of them fell to his death in Richmond - making worldwide headlines - but miraculously his companion survived an 11 hour flight with temperatures reaching -60C.Award winning film-maker, Richard Bentley, sets out to uncover who they are, how they got on the plane and why they decided to undertake such a dangerous and desperate mission. As he starts to look into this incredible story he discovers that it is in fact part of a new, chilling and little known phenomenon of people trying to enter the UK illegally.

Passenger planes don't fly at 60,000 feet unless it was a Concord.
Between 35 to 41 000 feet
And not even the concorde
@@theronsimmonsawakened1891 "Concorde had a cruise height of 60,000 feet, but not for all of its journey. Although it spent a lot of time at 50,000 feet and higher, as it burned fuel and got lighter, it would climb even higher still." from a history of the Concorde.
Even a Concord wouldn’t fly that high
Got a little teary eyed when that little girl seen her father's picture for the first time...poor girl.
Same here. I got a huge lump in my throat.
Me too. And how could he been this great father but this 11 or 12 year old has never seen him before. Shamillah didn’t ask for that which is sad but the mom doesn’t need to spin this fairytale on what a great guy he was either.
Extreme poverty and hunger will put nonsense in your mind and soul 😢😢😢
Just like the rich people who keep stealing from other people: remember the Maddox
Lack of education is probably a big factor as well. Many of these people probably have no idea that you can't typically survive at airliner altitudes outside of a pressurized vessel.
Stupid illegal immigrants
Oh my word. My heart literally breaks for Anna and his daughter especially after seeing that was the first photo she had ever seen of her dad. That poor sweet child and she looks like an angel.
Commercial airliners can't fly at 60,000 ft.
Concorde was
Yes only concord
There are no specific regulations governing civil aircraft operations beyond the altitude of 60,000 feet - that said your correct that the Concord is probably the only one willing to try.
@ESan-lh6dq It is not a regulation. Most commercial airliners can't fly past 30K feet.
Phenomenal job on video! You did them both the much needed respect and honor they've earned and sacrificed in pursuit of a far better life...They the best they could under their circumstances....RIP Young Man and May God Bless
To escape poverty, some people become reckless with their life. 🤢
To pursue greed, some people become reckless with their life.
😂😂@@The-Cat
Why go somewhere you're not wanted?
@@The-Cat
Escaping poverty is not greed !! U are confused !
@@SweetChicagoGator That's not what I said. YOU are confused.
I said: "To pursue greed, some people become reckless with their life."
Think about:
- instagram influencers selling their body in Dubai
- strippers
- prosties
- corporate corrupt
- political corrupt
all greedy and reckless.
Where is your mind at ?
Incredible story. Amazing perseverance by the journo. Yet, so many people just focus on the altitude error. 🙄
They think we're ignorant, 60,000 FT 🤣🤣🤣
Error in title: it's not 60,000 Feet, it's -60C
No ordinary civilian aircraft flys that high🙄
Thank you for your diligence, hard work !
Right, for longer flights they cruise between 30-40,000 feet which is significantly higher than the top of Mt. Everest at 29,000 ft at where climbers must take supplemental oxygen or die. Either the lack of oxygen or the low temperature should have killed him but facing both, its not clear how he survived.
I saw that also, but as usual, someone beat me to the comments section.
Correct brother 😊
pax airplanes dont go up to 60,000 ft
Exactly right maybe 35 36
Concorde does
@@capricorn839 not anymore but yea when she was in service
@@capricorn839Concorde hasn’t flown in over 20 years. So no, no pax aircraft fly at 60k feet.
What an incredible story. Makes you think about how many of us take our fortunes for granted.
Thank you for sharing this.
That was an incredible story however simplified it may im absolutely glad I clicked no matter the haters and the 60 k feet. Thank u for this its like people that survive the golden gate 😢
Awesome story! Poor little girl. I lost my dad when I was 5months old so I know what she is going through.
Wow a plane can fly at 60,000 feet above sea level. Wow, it must be a SR-71 Blackbird or a Concorde
I wonder if that person was already dead when he fell? Flying even at 30,000 feet would probably die from lack of oxygen and freezing temperature
As the pathologist said, he was alive when he fell but died on impact on the ground.
Are you serious didn't the other guy live .
Super impressing and interesting story good job putting all the pieces together to make this video
I didn't know that Speedbird had a plane that could reach 60,000 feet. Were that true, this incident must have happened on a Concorde, because that's the only airliner I know that could reach 60,000 feet. And at Supersonic speeds life would be over faster than one could blink.
Dude survived ejection at supersonic speeds
Wow so nice of you to go out of your way to bring clarity to what happed to those man.
These people had no idea what is like to be in a wheel of an Airplane on 40,000 ft, theres no rehearsal or any knowledge, they act on desparation and belief that as long as they are inside the Airplane they will be just fine, not knowing the wheels are not in pressurizing part of Air craft.. .
Airliners don’t fly at 60,000 feet.
Wow, that has already been mentioned over and over. Get over it
The name Themba is pronounced as Temba, The h is silent
Maybe stating 60,000ft might be bait of a sort.
A more successful try was in the mid 1960s. Kenny Pastori stowed on a Pan Am flight from New York to London. He stowed in a chamber beneath the pilot’s cabin that was pressurized and warm. After landing he waited until the plane was empty and exited up through the cabin floor. He, however failed to clear customs due to a lack of a ticket! He was questioned by Scotland Yard and eventually was sent back to New York.
Very touching.Thank you for sharing it.
I thank you for the effort you put in making this video about another person struggle in life
With the dedication put into this investigation people got nothing to say except the ft at which the plane fly's. What does it matter if the plane fly's at 1 ft or 20 feet or 30000 ft or 60000ft? What does that got to do with the storyline? What the world and what a people we are. Only 1% of the contributor talks about the daughter she left behind.
Thanks!
Excellent documentary 👏 👏
An amazing story!!😮😢
60.000 ft? what plane was that? an SR71?
Only the Concorde could go to 60,000 feet.
SR 71 could go even higher- but it's not a passenger plane. Just sayin'. You are correct though
…and the U2 which always worked above 60,000 feet.
Great documentary, Really So sad, RIP
That clickbait title is a joke, and is hilarious to those who understand aircraft. 60,000' huh? There isn't a jetliner made today that can fly that high. Even most business jets can't fly higher than 51, 000'. The only aircraft that can fly that high are the U-2, SR-71, WB-57, for example. BUT the old Concord could fly that high. Also the landing gear bays are not pressurized. Not only would you die of oxygen starvation, but you would also freeze to death.
😂 Aviation journalism at its finest - NOT! Don't these content creators even do a little research? No passenger jets fly at 60,000 feet. In fact few exceed 40,000 and most fly in the high 30's. But it's apparently all about clicks and click bait so why not post an outrageous title to the video.
Incredible. Thank you rorschach your tenacity. I hope you are reimbursed for your effort. I imagine that the people involved were compensated. God bless you.
Rorschach? Maybe you meant "research".
60,000 feet?....no airliner flies that high now, only the Concorde did...
In the video title, passenger aircraft rarely fly above 40,000 feet
I remember this story many, many years ago of a man who hid in the undercarriage of a plane. I don’t remember anyone falling and died.
Took him 5 years to find someone and 5 years to come up with a ridiculous number of 600000 feet, BA fly at around 35,000 feet.
Ok people😒,60 thousand ft, 50 or 30 ..free falling from those heights with no parachute will end in death 💀regardless of which number it is so stop nitpicking over the height and focus on the excellent story.
Life can be tough people are willing to do anything to have a good future
This is a touching story 😢. I am south African, from Johannesburg. That name Themba means hope or trust. It's pronounced temba but spelled like Themba not how you pronounce it theemba. 😅 What I want to say is you must call the T in themba.
What a story!
Bravo for you
One man died as a stowaway falling from a plane..image how many men died during the Atlantic crossing at the peak of the slave trade..
I would love to meet this man he the bravest black man in the world
The investigative journalist did a wonderful work.
Really sad to know about what happened. The reasons are obvious.
I wish someone would also focus on what is happening now a days. Sad to hear about these people but thousands are also losing their lives.
oh ! ok -60 makes more sense cuz the only commercial passenger plane that could fly at 60,000 ft was the concord ! lol
Great story, good news one is still alive.
Right, he'd have insufficient oxygen at 60K feet.
In the Boeings you can hide in the rear landing gear but not airbus or embrear,, the welds are sealed with a cover
Airplanes should have seats on the outside. Planes could become like the trains in India, with crowds clinging to the roof.
Why is everyone trying to get to the U.K. and not the U.S.?
60,000ft not possible unless Concorde. No commercial airliner flying today can exceed 45,000ft let alone 60,000ft
Max altitude for a 747 is 45,000ft
Actually it's dangerous for people they could hit on the ground --- a frozen body falling at 500mph or more could be fatal if it hit a person but they don't think of that, or damage they could do to the lowering of the gear on landing, putting 100s of lives at risk.
Carlito wasn't frozen when he fell, he was still alive, so not frozen. The maximum speed a falling person can get to is about 120mph.
Would have been 100 times better without the swearing. but the story was interesting.
Not a cakewalk
But
Clinging to the gear ?
747s don't fly 60k feet..smh. If you gonna tell the story, at least get the title right.
Planes put gear up at 500ft
Things like make me realize just how good we have it in the US, just how good life is for even the poorest in countries like Canada,Uk,Sweden,Denmark, France when compared to a good 3/4 or 6 billion who are not as fortunate, being the son of immigrants who came up significantly more poor than i did I almost never take many of the givens in this country but watching, hearing, reading about people like this really hammers it in even further
So sad there anyway to give a carlito’s family support?
Detesto el acento Británico
Bin with the air line for 30 year's 60,000.feet is not correct
I think 43,000 is possible , not 60,000.
A humans blood might start to boil.
Not even unless a biz jet.
Your speedo dial was not working?????.........''In the Audi''.........🚙.....................
Commercial planes cant fly at 60,000 feet
Airliners can't fly at 60k feet and if they could, he would've died due to lack of oxygen. Hypoxia killed Payne Stewart at far less than 60,000 feet. Not even watching this video because of the ignorance in it's title
What a bunch of crap. I wanted to learn how he survived. Instead I'm being fed Bravo Sierra narrative.
😢
All you experts who are criticizing the title, which is justified I admit, just remember that You Tube is owned by Google. Google uses autocorrect, and that right there is what happened...I freaking hate autocorrect !
On the completely other side, I enjoyed the story. I hope some of the Corporate sponsors of this channel helped the survivor financially a bit, or to find a place of employment, because he seems like a valuable person with a beautiful heart and surprisingly good English.
More like 39,000 or less
This guy has too much money and time on his hands. Yuppie garbage.
Very tired of the word 'reveal'.
Desperation doesn’t mean you act rashly without proper planning. 😊Who in their right mind would think that this is a good idea ? A net loss for taxpayers. He’s now on the government dole for life because he made a stupid decision ?
Not the smartest people
❤
😮😮😮😮😮😢😢😢😢😢😢
Yea, I'm definitely surprised you haven't heard about it. I live in the USA and I remember when it happened. It definitely was on the news.
They probably mistook his head for the plane wheel
How can I take anything in this video serious when the title is mentioning FL600?! Airliners do not fly at FL600 but rather between FL280 & 410 😅
That's nonsense. Schooling in South Africa is accessible; this man is an opportunist. He loves to play the victim and never cared about Carlito, so he can't say anything to add value about him.
There are government schools here in SA but the fees are supplemented by parents. More children than I care to number are dismissed from school through the parents inability to pay - the teachers and headmasters being a law unto themselves. Had he not cared about Carlito it is unlikely that he would have taken the trouble to find out where he was buried.
No it’s not, that’s a highly misguided perception
Next time, buy a ticket .
Ya didn't buy a ticket when the empire came to colonise.
Karma is a bitch eh ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't know where you think I'm from but get off the drugs.
@@michaellowe5980 Not my fault that you didn't go to school to learn about colonization history of Britain
So now he can't work and I'm sure he's living off the government.
6 months in the hospital $1,000,000
Now he's on disability. Taxpayers are paying for him now. Just saying❤
Should have been deported once out of the hospital .
@@Crashed131963he probably told immigration he was in danger in his country something.
I would take his widowed wife❤ She's beautiful ❤ She looks young and healthy enough for some more children ❤
This story lost all credibility when it claimed a passenger flight was at 60,000 feet!
Maybe the anti-colonial movement which "freed" these countries wasn't such a great idea after all.
Right! Get your fadts straight before you make a freaking UA-cam video people 😂
Something’s not right. Shamillers dad loved her, took care of her, good man, yada yada yada. Shamiller is shown picture of this dad, she cries, first time ever seeing him, never there. How could he be this great father and just took off never to be heard from earning frequent flyer miles and such.
They do it for the same reason they do everything else. Not too smart. Have u seen them try to build an airplane? They're different.
Last dude is making stuff up or not even the actual person. Dude pretended like he is limping on crutches 🩼 but it seems like he is making this whole story up just because he is getting paid for this interview.
I enjoy that the creator wants us to have pity over darwin award winners.
WOW. Johnson actually combed his hair in this clip. He's usually proud to walk around as if he'd been grabbed by his blonde quoif and face-fkd by his bf
I wish content producer would take the 60 seconds necessary to pronounce words properly. Had he done so he would ha would have pronounced João correctly with the sound being juong
Nothing happened to him at sixty thousand feet unless he hide out on an SR-71. Come on.
