- I was sitting at home relfecting on the passing of George Jones and remembered meeting him at Hank Cochran's memorial service. I thought again of my old friend, Hank, and remembered this little tidbit where he tells a great story about him and George when then were running together back in the sixties. This is an excerpt from his interviews with us for "Hank Cochran: Livin' for a Song". It didn't make it into the final cut of the film but I thought it was worth sharing so I put this together this morning. Rest in Peace, George!
Greg
I could sit and listen to stories about the possum all day!
George lived the fullest life. At least he had fun 🤩
Oddly, old Hank’s story is perfectly believable. God bless Hank and the old possum.
My favorite country music singer, George Jones ... He was a wild man at times. Lol .
This is treasure. Hank Cochran is a big part of traditional country music. Him and Dean Dillon from a songwriting standpoint.
Truth, brother! An honor to know and work with Hank putting this together. More influential to country music than will ever be known!
@@gregjwelsch That's awesome you got to work with him. Thanks for the reply, brother Greg.
Hank was my favorite songwriter."The Chair" man what a song.So many more to mention.
What a cute story!! We miss ya George and Hank!!
'You combed her hair'... was MY MaMas favorite GJ song. MaMa turned me on to George in 1965 with ALL those albums she played when I came home from school. I still have mamas album where he sang with Melba Montgomery. Man, what a GREAT duet on ALL those songs there!!

Hello erica
sounds like someone is walking upstairs and downstairs over and over again.
I knew his mama, brother Butch .
Thats an awesome story but I have questions that you didn't answer. Who was the guy the hit you?, Why did he hit you?, How long did you stay under the table? Did anyone try come to your aid?, Where the cops called?, Did you ever get your coffee?, What happened next?. So many questions......
George was at tootsies , quite drunk , when he followed porter wagoner in the bathroom , were he grabbed Porter by his Pecker and led him back into the bar area , yep thats George
I'm I the only one hearing that annoying sound like somebody's tapping their foot on the floor 🤔🙄😱
No! That wss Hank. We mentioned it but he was nervous when we filmed him and he couldn't stop! We cut and put sound blankets down but you could still hear it! LOL!
@@gregjwelsch I should have been more Sympathetic I Apologize he didn't look or act nervous Did he thank you 🤗🙏
@@gregjwelsch It looked like the Chair he was sitting in was tapping against the wall when he moved?
