    I was mistaken. The bike night will be at Cow and Coop's on Hwy 42. Not at the bike shop.

    Tramp, never give up the Evo, I remember back when you made the trade for it. I’ve been off the Tube for a while but to my coming back to watch, I can’t tell you how much I love seeing you keep the Evo on the road. I love old shovels too, don’t get me wrong, I’m just more partial to my Evo. I was thinking recently about getting back to filming trips and particular things all on my 97 Evo. (Softail Springer) Seems like everyone wants to do new bike reviews and new bike journeys and all, and that’s cool. I like old school though and not this fad of younger dudes trying to relive the 60’s and 70’s with mustaches and choppers. Anyhow, have a great time and ride it hard. Being in way down southern Georgia, I may ride mine your way some time.

    That gets you closer to the original Harley spirit and feel, what riding was once all about.
    I'm seriously considering swapping my '72 ElectraGlide cop bike back over to the tank shifter it originally had before I bought it, and the previous owner swapped it out.

    Honestly that's a smart move, a safer one too. As an example I'm a long time shooter and all of my handguns that, hopefully never, may have to be used for defensive purposes have the same control schemes and operate in a nearly identical manner. Life or death situations are not the time to learn new controls and standardizing your bikes to all have the same "manual of operations" will pay off if you need to perform a sudden maneuver to avoid a crash and in your case that means hand shifts and foot clutches because that's where your muscle memory is.

    It's yours so due whatever you want to it.. that's my opinion.. people would really not like what I about did to my deluxe a few months ago until my son who loves the bike talked me out of it.. I was going to have the frame stretched and raked, turning it into a modern long and low chopper that looks like its from the old school.. guess I'm just gonna get me a softail standard to due it to now..

    Good thing you don’t ride a Bultaco, or you would be trying to put the shifter on the right and the rear brake on the left.
    The hardest bike for me to get used to riding was a Pan with a tank shift, foot clutch and the distributor advance on the left grip.

    • @user-xw1oh7fs8j

      I remember some of my friends would use the foot clutch and shift the tank shifter with thier knee-I think i tried it once or twice but i really don’t remember the outcome, just thought I’d tell you of one of the crazy things we would try to do ,before drugs came along-if any one is successfully at this ,let us know how you made out,but be careful out there ,try it in a parking lot ,

    • @SaddleTrampTV
      @SaddleTrampTV  4 місяці тому

      The tongue of the seat slid right into place. Was able to get the plastic piece from the back seat to fit under the cushion part of the front seat; therefore all is held in place by the screw that holds the rear seat to the frame.

    Cool stuff. My 42 45 had hand shift foot clutch, but it was a rocker clutch, not a suicide clutch like yours. Anyway, I had never ridden a bike with a hand clutch until a friend let me ride his Triumph. The only thing different was the shifter was on the right side like the first Sportsters were.
    Brings back memories of the old 45 though. The hand shift foot clutch was around for a long time. Pretty neat job you did. I bet it did taking a little to get use to it. How many times have you reached for the hand clutch lever? Makes ya think don it.
