    Always great reviews.
    I went to purchase the 12ah version ypu initially reviewed but it was unavailable on Amazon. I decided to purchase the 6ah since it was inexpensive, needed, the right size, and I hoped it was built equal to the 12ah but knew there was a chance it would not be (like the Dakota batteries).
    For me, fishing from a kayak and all this battery needs to run is a Garmin Stryker 4 CV Vivid, the capacity is not an issue. I have fished multiple full days without recharging. It has been very wet from rain, waves, and getting hosed off with no issue.
    I am still happy with my purchase and glad I watched the 12ah review. I wish it was the same build quality, but its doing job well.

    Again, thanks for another great video! I really appreciate that you take the time to inform us. Being a test engineer myself I understand about being picky. The product either makes it or it doesn't! Doing my job I have had to make decisions like this all of the time, and then have to explain the decision to the design engineer. And just like you would have to defend my statement using the data I found. All of that to say I appreciate what you do for us.

    So I hear not all batteries are made alike. Watched a video on how cells are made for these packs. Batteries are graded from A+ to C. A+ and A are the most expensive and make the highest quantity and expensive lithium batteries. They hold Ah cap and have those 2000+ life cycles. Lower grade batteries not so much. Won't meet Ah they claim, and cycle life is very short 400 to 700. Curious to know if the cells are all bad or just one individual cell. Maybe a video on single cell test for Ah/voltage? Same BMS, not the same cells or build quality. Thanks for the great video.

    I wonder if the build quality varies from battery to battery depending on what the Chinese manufacturer was able to get? The Chinese are not known for their honesty so I wonder if you tore apart another 12ah if it would be different from the first one you tore apart?

    It's getting 96% of rated capacity. That's not horrible, but it SHOULD exceed the rated capacity, at least for the first couple of hundred charge cycles. The white powder is most likely mica, which is used in industrial applications as a dry lubricant. That "dirty" build is actually there to help ensure the cells aren't rubbing against one another, wearing through the wraps around them. Instead, they slide around with far less friction. It's a good thing. They could be reclaimed or just class B cells that barely pull capacity, at first, but also degrade much more quickly. Checking the individual IR of each cell would help tell that story.

    Hey Jeremy, what are your recommendations for a 12v 100ah? I was looking at getting a Dakota, but two of the three you tested were not great. Those were much smaller batteries though and I just wanted your input. Thanks for all your content!

    What was the problem with the wire gauge on your short circuit leads? Using a heavier gauge will just make it be able to transmit more power before it burns. It's probably safer to use the smaller wire, if it shorts and burns it is less wire to burn through and damage something surrounding it.

    • @iceholepower8012
      @iceholepower8012  2 роки тому

      He was suggesting that since the battery (not this one) was rated for a peak current of 60 Amps for 3 sec that the wire should be thick enough to handle that.

    Can you talk about or test the low voltage cut off properties of these batteries? I had a couple of shorai batteries that my kids "borrowed" one day for their powerwheel jeep. As you can guess, both are deader than a doornail and won't take a charge. I'd like to purchase lifepo4 batteries for this usage, but don't want to keep killing them at that price. Thanks!

    I have a 24Ah Rebel LiFePo4 battery that won't charge. It's sitting at 6.3v after buying and using it about 8 times over 2 years to power a small (14 lb.) trolling motor. Battery was always charged back up to full immediately after returning home. Battery was always kept inside my house. It will discharge if i hook up a turn signal bulb to it but it won't charge. Company doesn't respond to my inquiries posted at their site's "support" area. I would advise against purchasing this brand.

      Hard to say, have tore down 4 Dakota batteries and only liked one. Their build quality is not consistent. I will probably tear one down later down the road if the channel grows enough to justify the cost. If you are looking for a solid battery in that size. I would recommend the Amped 60Ah. ampedoutdoors.com/collections/boat-batteies/products/60ah-lithium-battery-lifepo4-series-capable?aff=8

    So I have been tossing the idea around of building one of your boxes with two 12ah Amped batteries. Planned on getting the sae plug for the charger. My question is, can I charge using solar? How would I set it up to properly charge?

    • @TheCrawdadman
      @TheCrawdadman 2 роки тому +1

      I built one using a 36 amp hour battery, to charge off of regular AC I got a LIFe PO4 5 amp charger, for solar I purchased a 150 w lithium solar controller and had it plugged directly to the panel with a 8 mm barrel connector. Seems to work great so far.

    😆 I cracked open a cheap "3000MaH" 18650 cell from China, that only had a verified (5 times) output of 200MaH. When I opened it sand came out along with a tiny disposal e-cig cell rated at, you guessed it, 200MaH. 😆 Friggin scammers. 🙄

      @@iceholepower8012 I don't have a link, it came in a flashlight I bought online. It's long been filed in the garbage can, but I do recall that it was an "Ultra-Fire" model, which I have read could have been a copy of a copy. 🤷🏻
      Edit: The wrapper on the cell was Red and Black, under the wrapper it had a plastic case instead of the usual metal, and it was very light compared to a usual 18650 cell. Now that I think about it, I'm fairly certain the rating printed on it was "3800MaH".
