I HATE IT when ppl pigeon hole them into the "Southern Rock" genre when the original band was one of the biggest bands and still are one of the most influential bands in history. IMHO they are the absolute best band in rock history... sorry Beatles and Stones fans
What a flashback. I was at this concert at the front of the stage, right in front of Rossington. Artimus broke a drumstick that went skittering across the stage, into my hand & I'm actually holding it right now. Billy Jones of the Outlaws joined them on "T for Texas". Bob Welsh's band Paris opened, the Outlaws were on 2nd. One of my all-time favorite Winterland concerts. Some of u posters seem to think not having a 3rd guitarist means the band wasn't at full strength but I disagree; I had seen Skynyrd before with Ed King but it wasn't that good of a show. Sometimes less is more. Rossington & Collins really cut loose here, check it out, y'all.
I read comments sections of live shows for exactly this kinda thing, someone who was there pops up with stories. Love it. Thanks man. I dig all the lineups through '77, this lineup is special in it's own way, Gary gets showcased a little more and that's cool.
I got backstage when you guys are in Orlando cuz my friend was in a wheelchair and the elevator operator tell my friend and me to come and get in the elevator then he sent us to the room which is called the Red room I guess were you guys just got done with the interview and my buddy in the wheelchair could not talk because of his MS best freaking night for him and me thank you much love

January 2024 and not one of these people are still alive but Artimus Pyle. May each of these AWESOME musicians RIP. When Gary Rossington passed away in 2023, I literally cried. I'm 65 and saw them in concert in 1976 when I was 18 in Johnson City, TN. They were (hands down) the best concert I've seen to date. 😢
I was a heroin addict in the mid 70's to 1990.I thought all these years they we're saying can't speak a word when full of balloons, didn't know they we're saying ludes T thank the Lord God Almighty for keeping me drug and alcohol free since 1990.
Went to their concert in Cicero Park near Chicago back in 70's with Friends Rick & Ed, we were in front of stage!! Waved to Ronnie & he waved back!! Never forget It!! 😢👍😍👍
Allen played that solo so well I love this version so much ...also played like this at Knebworth ...it is a little different than the solo at Oakland where Ronnie cut him off a little quicker there in Oakland for some reason...Here and Knebworth he turned him loose....The longest version of the solo I remember was the one in Jacksonville May 1, 1976 He really turned them loose that night! Sadly it was the last time they played with Ronnie here in their hometown. They were supposed to play at the Sunshine Jam in the Gator Bowl a few months later in July but Ronnie was unable to perform. Shame there was no film of the Jacksonville May 1, 1976 show ....it was real special there were so many people there ...the police did not even try to limit how many people squeezed in there ....it was like that for Led Zeppelin in 1973 as well ....they just did not want to have a riot with that many people ...I heard that there was 20k+ at both of these shows ...the old coliseum sat 12k lol...I believe it ...The concourses outside the arena were completely filled all the aisles were used as seats.
Sometimes talented people get together and something very wonderful happens. Glad to see the legacy of Lynyrd Skynyrd lives on. They are the Mozarts of Southern Rock. People will know them 1000s of years from now. Nothing like 'em. They will live forever.
And I just commented on maybe another of my collections lol if they were ever in. MYRYLE Beach and I missed it would have certainly gone just about 4 hours away. Damn
I love Gary's solo in 'I got the Same Old Blues' and it is captured on video perfect here! Fantastic to watch! All the guitarists and Leon were great, but Gary is my favorite. Some sick solos! 'That Smell' is the 'The End ' from The Beatles with the 3 different soloists but for 6 minutes! Gary rules that song also. Criminally under rated band.
Cletus pyle here, drummer for skynard tribute called that smell...47 people in band not including roadies and bar backs... playing red rox tonight and everynight till they open back up..
I was blessed to have seen Ronnie and the boys 6 times before their terrible plane crash! They were good to us in Pensacola and Mobile. I saw other band groups for Skynyrd at least 6 more times, but it was never the same without Ronnie!
I like how this is the one album/tour where they were down a guitarist, but they still absolutely cooked. Proof that Skynyrd was always Allen and Gary and Ronnie's band.
These guys were in my opinion the best southern band ever to play. How many bands have 3 star hard rockin guitarists. The song writing was amazing Ronnie always looked so cool and calm up there kept them all in line true leader. The rest of the band were so talented and when they all played together it made the hair rise on your arms.
Agreed. To answer your question about three guitarists, The Allman Bros had Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, Warren Haynes, and Dereck Trucks, all four are on Rolling Stones Greatest Guitarists of All Time list.

RIP Gary Rossington
I live in Jacksonville, Florida. RIP Gary Rossington. Thanks for this upload.
I saw them in the 70s in concert. I'm a full blown fan waiting to relive that era.
I'm working at home listening this perfect perform. nothing better...
Right on , same. Love '75 also
Often imitated, but never EVER duplicated. Best Southern Rock Band their ever was.
Exactly..!!!
Amen to that!
The best foreverer..... infinity
I love my band ♥️♥️♥️♥️
@@steveng1624 ))i love youvery much
Skynyrd was my first concert, Oct 16, 1977; their plane went down four days later. I didn't believe it when I heard about it.
😢😢😢😢
Only 17 months before one of the greatest tragedies in
rock n roll history.
That's when the music died. TD Atlanta
😢
These comments make me smile :) this is southern rock! This is music!
I am so Happy we have these concerts we can Watch , !!!
I was in sedalia Missouri in July 1974 Ozark music festival lynyrd skynyrd was there for 3 days and nights with several other bands 350,000 people what a blast
Me too!
Pulls me back, always comes back to this, original raw talent.
this is truly amazing to be able to enjoy this thanks to you ,a big jewel in the crown of my music collection...
Riffs et rythmiques tonitruantes , des titres
qui vont droit au cœur et restent dans la mémoire collective .
Un groupe dans le patrimoine universel
I'm 61 years old and this music keeps me alive. The way Allen Collins kicks the lick on the needle and the spoon
Lynyrd skynyrd Is LEGENDARY !
All time great ! Childhood memories still deep inside the spirit of our days has never died !
Sleep now peacefully your quest is done !
If anyone remembers The Ranch in Galena, KS. and saw Steve Gaines play with Crawdad, gimmie a thumbs up.
what year?
This goes without saying " Southern Rock,s premier band will never be replaced , just always remembered as the go to music for the working man ! "
Kick ass is the music they played!!! And it NEVER gets old!!😂😂❤❤❤
I HATE IT when ppl pigeon hole them into the "Southern Rock" genre when the original band was one of the biggest bands and still are one of the most influential bands in history. IMHO they are the absolute best band in rock history... sorry Beatles and Stones fans
Best rock band ever not just the best southern rock band the best rock band

I agree 100%
IMHO, They were the Stones of the Southeast.
Leon is a great Bass player, one or the best!!
Not the best, but the best for Skynyrd no doubt. That's more than enough.
great sound great band, always in my memory
Only if I could have been a friend of yours you may have said... Hey mann I'm going to see this bad ass band tonight. Wanna go?
I was there also, can't remember much, right upfront.
lucky
Mark Tele wow man thank you for sharing a legendary part of Rock’n’Roll history....agree they were smoking here with two legendary guitarist ❤️🙏🏼
Nobody comes close to match their talent !
Agreed!
All the songs are great and the music amazing too.
RIP Gary Rossington today March 5, 2023
I got backstage when you guys are in Orlando cuz my friend was in a wheelchair and the elevator operator tell my friend and me to come and get in the elevator then he sent us to the room which is called the Red room I guess were you guys just got done with the interview and my buddy in the wheelchair could not talk because of his MS best freaking night for him and me thank you much love
Some of my favorites:
Saturday Night Special 05:25. Gimme Back My Bullets 19:25. Needle and the Spoon 31:14. Gimme Three Steps 36:00. Call Me the Breeze 40:30. Sweet Home Alabama 45:55. Free Bird 1:01:10. Sorry about the spacing.
Awesome the way Ronnie spotlighted the talent of his band members.
Great blues let us go you put your heart and soul in it and it's like all your other songs that you've ever did and don't forget give me back My bullets
saw them open for the doobie brothers about this time...maybe 77
love the DB... but Skynyrd blew them off the stage..thanks for this awesome memory!
Of course they did
Gary Rossington and Allen Collins are two of the greatest guitarists of all time...just my opinion
Very underrated for sure
But Allen Collins is the better of the 2
@@johnvreeland5995 true but Gary had some of the best solo spots I ever heard
Steve Gaines is better.
But I prefer Edward King...
The best band that ever was no questions asked
Chicago.led zeppelin. Rush. Skynyrd competes with all them
@@trashedbodomguy Chicago?!?!???
@@arthurbishop3173 did I stutter.when terry was with them.prettt much 68-78.the musicianship was off the charts. Check out live at the tanglewood 1970
@@trashedbodomguy Chicago. What?
This is pretty special, thanks for posting. I've watched the 75 Winterland concert featuring Ed King and A. Pyle many times...cool to see the different lineup with Billy, Honkettes, and no 3rd guitar. Can't wait to see the other one you posted!
I'll totally agree with that last comment. They have always been my favorite band!!
Not balloons luds. Qwaluds
Went to their concert in Cicero Park near Chicago back in 70's
with Friends Rick & Ed, we were in front of stage!!

In 76 I was a young girl jamming out every night on my 8 tracks and two hugh speakers that were connected for realism.love this.
...a couple of the dudes from the outlaws playin on t for texas...how awesome is that? Never knew that happened. real joy to watch.
9 min 4 guita1 piano solo
A minute in, back up vocals/harmony comes in, i'm already out of my mind into this groove.
Sometimes talented people get together and something very wonderful happens. Glad to see the legacy of Lynyrd Skynyrd lives on. They are the Mozarts of Southern Rock. People will know them 1000s of years from now. Nothing like 'em. They will live forever.
I saw the original back in 76 . It was across from Pirateland campground....38 special opened.
Myrtle Beach, S,C,
Wrong
ORIGINAL LINEUP IS ED KING
And I just commented on maybe another of my collections lol if they were ever in. MYRYLE Beach and I missed it would have certainly gone just about 4 hours away. Damn
Gains1st concert
Was Myrtle Beach sc
I finally watched there whole concert, a lot of for real energy, my friend from our souls thru our eyes
200 billions LIKES for fantastic LYNYRD SKYNYRD..
I’d forgotten how much influence Free had on these guys. You can definitely hear it here! Awesome performance! Thanks for uploading this!
Me too I think he played 4k shows
Cletus pyle here, drummer for skynard tribute called that smell...47 people in band not including roadies and bar backs... playing red rox tonight and everynight till they open back up..
"Can't smoke it or drink it the hell with it." R. Van Zandt
I was blessed to have seen Ronnie and the boys 6 times before their terrible plane crash!
They were good to us in Pensacola and Mobile. I saw other band groups for Skynyrd at least 6 more times, but it was never the same without Ronnie!
I've loved this band (the originals) All my life!! Can never get enough!!❣️❣️☮️
FR!!
I like how this is the one album/tour where they were down a guitarist, but they still absolutely cooked. Proof that Skynyrd was always Allen and Gary and Ronnie's band.
This is true 👍
YUP! They were all superstars, but Gary and Allen Definitely made the Greatness happen.
7 days a week! Sun up till sun down! 5 plus years? What did they during that? That was their practice schedule...
I favor the Outlaws.
@@Doo_Doo_PatrolDon't give up man, I'm sure they will find a medicine that will make you realize Lynyrd Skynyrd is the G.O.A.T.
Kidding. No disrespect, dude. We all like what we like. ✌️❤️✝️🇺🇲
@@Doo_Doo_Patrol would you have any grey poupon?
Just an absolutely gritty band
Was blessed to be there and see the Best Southen Band Ever. Great sound Live, tight band led by Ronnie R.I.P.
Ronnie wrote alot of his songs in his head..never wrote lyrics down for alot of his songs ..now that's god given talent...r.i.p ronnie an the band...i know you guys got heaven rocking....
Allen always looked like he was having a blast...but Gary never smiled.
Will Love Them 4ever ~ Until we meet again Ronnie on the other side
What made him so stoic?
Never noticed, and makes me wonder
He once said if he could say it in words he'd say it but he'd rather play it
These 80-90s rockers should have listened .. don’t mess with the needle ..
Taxi driver lately told me it's "Rock-n-Toll Desease"
What a superb group. The Honketts too. I owe them all for inspiring me to learn to play the guitar and bringing me musical inspiration to this day.
