in this iffy year of 2021, she's been gone for longer than she was with us on this earth. almost 52 years gone. she left us way too soon.
Judy is stunning here and easy to tell she felt & believed opening msg...so many were crude & harsh to this timeless legend who had more talent than anyone but many sadly were threatened by the lady with so much talent and a wondrous extraordinary voice, how sad. Garland's vocal is tremendous & breathtaking making "Through The Years" a timeless classic performance that is for all time a gem to enjoy over and over...Bravo Judy, love you & RIP
Garland's great gift was that every note, every syllable, every nuance and intonation was rung from the very depths of her inimitable, heartfelt soul. She lives in this moment because she could convey so much to so many with such a rarefied gift. When she sings she doesn't simply belt one out into the rafters, but she telescopically manages to burrow and stir something deeply ever-present within us all. Personally, I can't listen to this without shedding a few tears for the loss of such talent, so needlessly and much too soon. She ought to have been with us 'through the years' for so many more to come.
The old talents, like Garland, never will die, because they speak to an essential quality. Like breathing air or drinking water to survive, Garland's talent is a perennial, arguably, without peer. There's a magical quality, nee joy and dire need to be welcomed into our hearts. I know of no other artist from the 20th century (or the 21st for that matter) who so immediately charges us to embrace it with that inextricably bound joy and sorrow intermingling together. This is a one of a kind talent for which no homage has ever sufficed. You can't quantify a talent like Garland's into words adequately, because she touches something unique and uncompromising from within. It's too simplistic to say she was a sentimentalist, because what's here is more richly rewarding and nourishing than mere sentiment allows for; or perhaps, its simply that we can understand through her the strength as well as the beauty of sentiment for its own sake - pure, undiluted and awe inspiring. Permit us to worship.
She was Great when living, in spite of the ups and downs and immortal now in death.
I feel like she's singing this one to me. She has been my my side every step of the way since I was 3.
No matter how many times I listen to her sing this song it moves me so deeply. She was such a stunning performer. There never was nor will there be anyone like her. This was one of her favorite songs and this version is my favorite. Thanks you for sharing it.

The ultimate performer. It was all she knew how to do, really. She was practically bred to perform having the stage mother that made her the family breadwinner. She loved to sing and audiences the world over loved to listen. She seemed so vulnerable, yet so watchable.

The power of her voice at full throttle is nearly super-human, and yet completely human, which makes it all the more remarkable....like a super-human neighbor. Image an outdoor block party where your neighbor gets up to sing and out blasts the approaching thunderstorm. I'd stay and listen.

The album "Judy Garland Christmas Through the Years" (if it's still available) is worth buying just for "Merry Christmas" (from "In the Good Old Summertime") alone. Her interpretation of "Lost in the Stars," which is not a Christmas song, is especially remarkable since, as I read it, she had never heard of the Kurt Weill ballad before; it was just taught to her soon before recording it for her show. It sounded as if she had sung it all her life. This was part of Baby Gumm's genius. More than voice and musicality, but instinct. Judy's new year's wish for the world, recited here, which I am convinced she wrote herself, is heartbreaking considering she was still reeling from the assassination of President Kennedy. "Through the Years" was supposedly Judy's favorite song, and, considering her rendition, I am inclined to believe it. So beautiful, so memorable. Pure Judy.

we lost respect, so we lost this and guess what we gained: rappers and swearing which is called 'music' by many people. Call me stupid but it sounds like a pretty poor trade :/
I COULDN'T AGREE MORE!!! Judy had REAL talent like no one else!!! She was the best of all!!!!
