Thanks for all of the good information. I also have the DeWalt routers. Please, show us how you went about modifying the 611. I would love to be able to better see my bit while I am routing a sign.
I use the full sized Bosch router with the plunge router base. It is open all the way around you can really see what you are doing and it has LED lights. It comes with a wide clear round plexi base. I pop it out of the plunge base back into the fixed base with the table insert plate and it is full purpose multi use. I have sold alot of projects carving with the full sized Bosch router.
All great Routers but when I’m wood carving I want a router that has trigger on handle I can shut on and off without taking my eyes off workpiece.. good job on the reviews!
Hi Jose. I use a shop vac on the router itself. If you are asking about the dust collector behind me, I got that at Harbor Freight. For the second port, I used a hole saw and a drill press to cut it out. I finished it with a jig saw. Good luck!!!
I’m just getting into carving signs and I use a kobalt router atm because it was gifted for Xmas. I’m a dewalt guy so, My question is: you suggest dw611 How would the battery version compare for sign making. I have a lot of the 20v tools and naturally leaning towards cordless. Was just curious on your opinion on performance for sign making?? Thanks in advance.. P.S: love the videos!!

Hi Rick. I bought it from Amazon. Here is a link to the one I purchased. I am happy with how it works. I cut a second hole on the other side so could see while carving.

A plunge base is available for the DWP611. Part number, I believe is DNP612. And made specifically for the 611 router. It's much lighter.
Love the Dewalt 611, I also recently started using a Milwaukee M18 cordless router.
How did you cut the second port on your 611? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Nice info, love the dewalt also!
Thanks Mike. Much appreciated!
How did you cut the side out of the base ?
Hello. Where did you get the dust control and how did you cut the second port. Please do a video on it. Thank you
