It's great to see these actors or actresses that were big (and underappreciated, maybe overexposed) when I was younger getting their due and getting more work. I remember reading a great personal piece on Fraser years ago and the guy is very down to earth, humble. I believe the writer showed up to his property and he was splitting logs for his woodpile

large parts of the joburg area are great, up around sandton and bryanston are some of the nicest neighborhoods I've ever been in felt like california, but downtown joburg is something else.... I wouldn't think hollywood actors would feel safe down there without security. By and large though, SA is one of the most beautiful countries with such amazing people everyone who has the means should visit it at some point.

Saw Brendan at a small film fest. He was kind of an overweight wreck from divorce and punishing alimony but things like playing a guard in The Affair and Doom Patrol brought him back.
I still don't know what possesses people to locate film crews to legitimately dangerous locations to get production values. Getting accidentally shot by your co-star due to a mishap is bad enough, but to get shot on purpose by real bad hombres is just not fucking worth it.
Money. Turns out it's much cheaper to shot outside the US. South African film industry has grown a lot these past few years. Lots of US shows and movies are being filmed here.

I lived in Johannesburg for 4 years. Its strange sometimes awesome and sometimes car jacking in daylight. The first time I heard about carjacking was in joburg
CW finally aired it the end of last year and I really like the show! I think if people realize it's on (I personally don't think enough advertisement for it happened), they will watch and it will get picked up. With all the harrowing situations on the show, it's a little scary and very interesting to know that being on location for filming was kind of almost just as dangerous! I've worked lots of different productions and never felt like I could die at any time going to and from set. Of course I've only filmed in southeastern North Carolina and north and eastern South Carolina in the USA, so that might not be saying much. Except for the times we filmed in bat guano filled defunct cement plant, the time I got heat stroke from being in sun too long on a small airport tarmac or working outside at night being a person allergic to mosquitoes, nothing too serious. I hope that dangerous part of their filming is taken care of when they go back for a second season!

People died. It was all over the news. You would have to be pretty sheltered to not see any of this reported in your country.

Taxi shootings are not uncommon in Joburg.. I had to scoot around a 1km traffic jam on the way to Sandton one morning.. it was only cleared up about 4 hrs on my way back
As a South African I was thinking... What a darn drama queen, so went and watched the trailer. They shot some scenes at THE RAND CLUB, downtown Joburg, which was at one stage home to the richest miners in the world. Founded by Cecil John Rhodes, it was the centre of the global mining world and African political world. Central Joburg has decayed so I can completely believe the guys were on their toes for those scenes.
I can’t tell you how comforting it is knowing that Tom and Michael are still so close.
Especially after learning all the horrible shit Allison Mack was up to and is now in prison because of.
