@randomepic6204 it's a sibling thing. Siblings will fight or talk shit to each other because they can. If someone else talks to one of them like that get ready for a slugfest
I loved Jensen as The Red Hood in the DC animated movie. His voice alone can carry so many emotions in one line. Comedic chops as well! Such an underrated performer, Hollywood ought to get wiser.. Same can be said of talents like Will Forte, Kaitlin Olson, Charlie Day and Michael Rosenbaum!
Makes sense to me. Jessica was 19 years old in Dark Angel dating a cast member who was 32, all while having the entire show rest on her shoulders. 19 is a confusing time without having a multi-million dollar James Cameron production riding on you along with a guy who is 13 years your senior. Jensen was about 22 at the time; I have no trouble believing that they butted heads immediately and walked the line between siblings or mating/hate & love. Stuck around a confusing older man and a hot guy your own age, when you're that young and around each other for 18 hours a day? Things get blurry under the circumstances.
But then if it's the other way around and it's the guy being a dick to the new girl then it's "me too" time and all hell breaks loose and we get hashtags 20 years later. When it's Jessica, it's just another day in show business. Meh.
I respect this SO MUCH, if you have an issue with someone tell them to their face, no tweeting, posting or texting rumours. Deal with things straight up💯💯
The switch-up in Jensen's clones' personalities on Dark Angel, from his season one religious psycho Ben, to season two's smart-Alec, sold me on Jensen's acting. I've enjoyed his performance in everything he has been in since.
@@asmasaeed8698 PLEASE tell me you remember Joshua. The lion man who suffered hours of make up. Still B-list and not helped because he's tall, so a bit quirky to film. His career got moderately better, for a big man. His skills are not what they used to be, but Kevin Durand is still quite good.

This is such a beautiful story. I love how, despite the sh*t they would give to each other, he stayed with her at her house to keep her company and, when his Grandpa passed, she came to his trailer and just hugged him for half an hour 🤗❤️

There's Only One God and He is YHWH Jehovah. Anything else is pagan and false idols. PLEASE, you, and EVERYONE, if you haven't already, embrace the factually Only One God, Only One Jesus Christ and the Only One Holy Spirit. God is good. God is love. Jesus is Lord. Jesus IS coming. Your soul depends on it! I have seen God act in my life. He saved my soul, changed my heart, changed my mind, helped people through me, took care of people in my life, people I hurt before I found God. God is the only reason I was able to reconcile with my dad before he died. God worked through Jesus Christ to save our souls. Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, and that God raised Him from the dead, repent of your sins, accept God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit into your heart and you will be saved. Be baptized in The Holy Spirit, and if He wills, water as well. For God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son Jesus Christ, that all who believe on Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Jesus Christ is The Way, The Truth and The Life. No one comes to the Father Jehovah God but through Him. Not long after I got saved I prayed to God for help understanding the Holy Bible, and that same day someone knocked on my door asking me if I wanted to understand the Bible. The Holy Bible says, "love thy enemy", "turn the other cheek", "If your enemy is hungry, feed him", "if he is thirsty, give him a drink", "pray for those who persecute you", "do not repay evil for evil".
To be honest, that was why it worked so well on screen. At no point was there a "will they/wont they" it was always siblings who pissed each other off. Which made their friendship so much better.
Well no to stir the pot here, but the fact that they were going to have them (the writers) as a couple type in the 3rd season and were preparing their characters for it is very telling. There was chemistry there.
She had way more chemistry with him then Logan whatever that characters name is. They were probably saving that relationship for the 3rd season because when I watched it I wouldn’t have excepted them to have a relationship but the chemistry was there for sure.
I watched it at the time, and I totally shipped Max and Alec. Their chemistry was totally believable. Especially compared to her chemistry with Michael Weatherly, who I think she was actually dating? Didn't buy that at all.
@@helen_louise yeah the chemistry was on point for their characters & yeah she was dating weatherly (the engaged to him briefly). Honestly recalling their auditions alba seemed to be initially crushing on weatherly as she was eyeing him a bit but…what I’m thinking now is during that 1st year she got a taste of how he was & was beginning to regret the relationship & it didn’t help that it was right around the time that Jensen came in as a regular. Hot guy to the guy she was dating, chemistry was there, so she treats him as she did to avoid letting him have a clue she likes him & is in a relationship she regrets. Plus i have a strong feeling weatherly was using her lead power to prevent him from being killed off (he already stopped it S1 since he was supposed to die then & zack was supposed to stay) so when Jensen said ‘she was under pressure’ I don’t think he knows how accurate that is.
I kinda want to hear more about how chaotic the Dark Angel set was! I feel like Jensen held back a lot. I've seen people especulate Jessica Alba took on her boyfriends' pains, Michael Weatherby, who quickly saw the writing on the wall about how his character was gonna get (and did get) sidelined by Jensen's. Also, I always took issue with Max's characterization in S2. In S1 she was way more fun and lighter and always there for her dumb coworkers/friends. Then enters Alec, and okay there was the whole virus thing, but the level of hostility Max displayed towards him never made much sense to me, even with that shoehorned explanation about how he reminds her of Ben. Hearing about the tension on set and the amount of pressure Alba was really puts her later portrayal of Max in perspective.
hmmm I agree with most of that, but I can't say I agree with you about Max's character arc. It has been a while since I saw the show so I may not be able to remember all the names etc. but I'll do my best. In season 1 Max was shown to actually be rather ambivalent and morally grey at best (you could even argue morally dark - no pun on the show name intended). She moonlighted as a cat burglar and when we first met the character she had no real moral standards about her targets. For example she met Logan as a result of breaking into his place with intent to steal. It is Logan who acts as an angel on her shoulder and advises/pressures her to only rob from bad people. Max also generally has no interest in getting involved in the issues "eyes only" is investigating, and regularly refuses to help - only changing her mind after Logan guilts her into it. By season 2 she has taken Logan's morals on as her own and starts acting as a moral compass for others in the same way Logan had for her. I see what you are saying about how she would put herself out there to help her friends in season 1 (e.g., helping her delivery co-worker juggle two women - heh). I don't think she stops doing this in season 2 though; only the objects of that help change. Rather than it being delivery guy and her roommate - who was written off - It was Alec and the Dog-man who's name I can't remember (Max called him "big fella" though if I recall). This has to be expected to some extent because as the show carries on and Max continues to develop and grow as a hero the issues she faces have to increase in scale and importance in order to continue to challenge her and push her character development. Thus the more petty issues with her co-workers make way for larger issues related to protecting,, emotionally supporting and supporting the real-world acclimatization of her fellow...trans-genics? I can't remember the term they used for them now. This time of "growing out of" situations -and the characters that drive those situations narratively - happens in every hero show/narrative, with the exception of Buffy (which got around it by having the support characters grow in relevance along with the hero -aka Willow became a progressively stronger magic user and thus maintained relevance in Buffy's hero journey. Xander on the other hand...). my two cents
I wasn't even a teenager only 11 years old when I watched Dark Angel. It was through Dark angel that I fell in love with watching Jensen act. I am glad he is such an honest person. Followed him from Dark angel to Smallville to Supernatural...
I love this story. Sometimes you just have that kind of chemistry with a person, the brother-sister thing, it's hard to explain. In most cases, there's no sexual attraction, but you feel safe with that person for whatever cosmic reason... And looking from outside people think all sorts of things, but they can't understand unless they are close to the situation. Cool anecdote. BTW I really enjoyed Dark Angel when it came out, but I don't remember Jensen at all. Actually, I don't remember much else than Alba. :D
@@calumsanderson6741 Yeah me too. Meanwhile, I managed to get both seasons and watched the pilot - it was way ahead of its time (openly gay character, social justice, girl power). Could even draw some pandemic parallels.
@@calumsanderson6741 One of his best roles, he could play more under his make up than ever after, hours of prearation totally worth it. Kevin Durand. He's too often the big (canadian) guy. In X-men, in many second roles, in The Strain (series by Del Toro). Jensen and him clicked on and off screen. Their scenes are great and there is a real mutual respect.
Jensen seems like such a genuine guy and for her to say that was just poor judgment. But he turned it around, and took the good out of the situation. That takes class.
"looking back on it, did I miss something there?" Lmao Jensen Ackles sounds like a cool dude and seems like a regular guy haha I like how he was honest and respectful at the same time
He didn't. JA was kidnapped when she was a teen. She was 14 hours midding. The responsable/s were never found because she couldn't remember details. She was probably scared to be alone.

Jensen is real and direct, i like that. he said NO immediately, horrible to work with but we are good. no time for remixing or sugar-coating or woketifying(new word) everything.
Hearing Jensen say this now, it makes so much sense on just how good the chemistry was between their characters. They really didn't have to change much or do much when in scenes together, because that's how they pretty much were to each other anyways. (It still sucks that Jensen got treated like that by Jessica. And it's definitely NOT ok that she was completely rude to him all the time) but, sometimes, those are the kinds of relationships/bonds that somehow make it work on screen. You could definitely tell there was some kind of chemistry between Max and Alec, especially when they were bickering like siblings. But when things got serious, both Max and Alec were there for each other. Just like how Jessica and Jensen were. They grew to build a mutual understanding and a certain amount of respect towards one another, even when bickering. It's crazy how much their characters more or less mirrored their real life.
i just love that he now kind of regrets not trying anything in those real moments when he was at her place but he's with a great woman now so i don't think he looks back on that too much cause he adores his wife just like Jared Adores his wife as well
That's how Jensen (class act) puts it. Everyone is revolted at Kevin Spacey, all of a sudden. After decades ! Thank you very fuck. Jensen used the dynamics, Jessica may have followed, you know how it turned out. He's low level and she's gone.
@@rolandofgilead43 Ah! Friends on facebook ? You've seen how Jared turned his fans on Jensen and his wife ? Friends in Texas or hollywood my ass. Best friends become strangers. The fandom is toxic as hell. Alba won't ever say a word against Jensen. Her career is done and she was no friend, no enemy either
It was nice to see that he still acknowledges that he loves her as a person despite everything and recognizes the pressure she had. Especially being a female lead during that decade. The sexualization and misogyny was probably a huge issue for her. But simultaneously this isn't the first time I've heard that she's really difficult to work with
Michael Rosenbaum nailed the Lex Luther character so freaking well, that even though we know he will be evil someday, everyone loved him and he carried the show while Tom Welling and the others learned to act. How does he not go on to become an A-lister? I loved the tension between him and Clark. You always knew that they would eventually be enemies. It always made me nervous, wondering when that would happen. He was a great nice guy, with that evil side that you knew was in there. Oh, and Jensen was awesome as Soldier boy.
I have also heard that a year after Dark Angel wound up, she did call him and apologised. So it’s all good now. They spoke at the 2005(or was it 2006?) teen choice awards. There’s pictures of that interaction. Plus she also attended the premiere of My Bloody Valentine 3D. I think they are good now and there’s no beef. Something that happened years ago, I don’t think those articles need to be implying anything else. People grow.. I’m sure she has. I will say this, Jensen really handles work related issues very well. He knows when to be respectful and not bulldoze a working set. And he knows when to call out shit.. I admire that about him. He’s very well balanced and got a good head on his shoulders.
This is a great podcast because it strips away the "Celebrity” Bullshit that Actors have to go through!!! It shows that they go through same crap that everyone goes through. The only difference in that they (the actors) sometimes have the financial cushion to deal with it!!!!! Michael you and your team have done a good job 👍
Whoa nelly. Hold on there. Jessica Alba was hands down the best thing about Dark Angel. And there are whole bunch of other talented actors on the show. While you might not know them by name, there are a whole bunch of familiar faces for folks that have been watching any sort of mainstream media for the past few decades. Michael Weatherly, J.C. MacKenzie, John Savage, Alimi Ballard, Martin Cummins, Kevin Durand, Ashley Scott, Fulvio Cecere, Byron Mann. The most famous among them is probably Michael Weatherly who was on a soap opera, NCIS, and Bull. The most talented actor in my humble opinion is probably Kevin Durand. He played Joshua in Dark Angel. If you have good eye and ear for acting you may also noticed him in the following. 3:10 to Yuma, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Legion, Lost, Robin Hood with Russell Crowe, I Am Number Four, Vikings, Locke & Key.
I remember watching Dark Angel in the early 2000s, it was one of the late 90s to early 2000s TV shows that were about kick-ass female leads. Can't believe it's been 20 years since it ended, I felt it still had 3 more seasons ahead of it.
I worked on the show - Cameron's excesses when he directed the season finale is what cancelled the show. The network needed to teach him a lesson. The finale went sooo over budget. Even the city of Vancouver where it was filmed had had enough (Cameron had a lot of demands and was/is someone who does not like hearing "no"). Jensen was a blast to work with. Jessica did indeed have massive responsibility but was always pleasant enough, at least to me.
Jensen is amazing soul, jessica alba seems ot have grown but I appreciate for him keeping it honest. This is why you have to watch how you treat people. Jensen has a huge fan base. We all love him!!!! She shouldnt take this personal at all, own it.
Those are sometimes absolutely the best kind of relationships I feel. Proper banter between friends to liven the mood and challenging each other. But when things are serious in real life it's all pushed aside as Jensen mentioned. I had a very similar relationship with a girl like that at Uni. We would give each other shit in front of our friends, proper banter and what not but when push came to shove at the end of the day, we were there for each other during hard times and to this day she's still my best friend. Alot of my friends also had that same reaction as Michael also, she was hot and everyone was always asking if there was anything more there than just friends but it was never like that really.

The media and a lot of people are just now jumping on the Jensen train full speed because of The Boys but I've been singing his praises ever since Days of Our Lives!! @@TheNoybusiness Most definitely. No woman is gonna invite some guy over while her man is away if she's not trying to fuck. She blamed in on being scared but that's called plausible deniability
I really liked the light dystopian concept/scenario of “Dark Angel” (the window dressing, the obvious female or male wasn’t necessary for me) and was bummed that there wasn’t a proper season 3. Also sucks that the show never got a Blu-ray release, the PAL DVDs are as far as I know the best audiovisual quality for the show that you can get.
I think it was Paul Walker that told press Jessica Alba was “a pain in the a$$ to work with” but he also really respected her. I read an article about her where the journalist had met her in the early days, then around 10 years later and remarked that she was far more relaxed and less “business”. There’s never been any real drama around her, especially compared to her contemporaries. No drugs, alcohol, arrests, adult tapes, cheating scandals etc. It makes me wonder if being hard and on the offensive is what these young actors have to do to get through unscathed.
Loved that show, shame it ended. Jessica was in a relationship with Michael Weatherly and it ended, he was a lot older than her. She was young and a lot of pressure on her to make it work. Jensen was very young in it. They had good chemistry on the show, bickering was part of the dynamic, but this surprised me. Glad they could still respect each other.
I listened to the entire podcasts he did with Rosenbaum and she actually was rude to him the first time they met. It stayed like that for a while but basically she eventually got over herself and they ended up having an amicable relationship. My take on it is she was only 20 years old and and kind of full of herself and just felt threatened by Jensen. So happy he didn’t back down.
ALBA WAS 19 and the lead in a massive show, that the network had no idea how to handle/promote, she got into a relationship with Michael Weatherly really quickly who was nearly 14 years older than her, and was moving really fast to getting engaged and shit, I can imagine that she was getting a lot of earache from Weatherly about Jensen being cast on the show, if Weatherly's makeover in season 2 was anything to go by, he looked a mess lol, and also he was getting pushed out of the series, by the character Jensen played I can imagine that ALBA was not having fun at home.
It should be noted that at the time Alba was in a relationship with Michael Weatherly, she was 18 and a virgin, and he was 33 and divorced with a child. 🤢 I HIGHLY doubt the relationship was healthy. So Jensen basically walked into a terrible situation for her.
@@likainenerkki7047 It's not okay, but it is forgivable. My point is that she was a kid in a very bad place and while yes, she behaved poorly, it wasn't because she's a terrible person but was in a terrible situation and too young to have the tools to handle it gracefully. Jensen, while choosing his words carefully, is obviously sympathetic to the fact that she was in an impossible situation on a toxic set, that she, unfortunately, contributed to, with an older co-star taking advantage of her youth and inexperience because he could, along with an executive producer (James Cameron) who everyone acknowledges is nightmarish to work with. Jensen is a grown man and an actor/director who has a lot of hindsight, now, about how safe collaborative sets vs toxic and damaging sets can change how people act.
@@maxguevara5204 Be that as it may, whether it would have been worth the drama that would have resulted with Michael Weatherley is another question, and I think they would have ultimately broken up.
I have a sudden respect for Jensen Ackles. Too many times celebrities give a plastic smile and "oh yea they are great!", meanwhile he immediately and respectfully said "she was a bitch". It's admirable and hopefully he keeps that mentality throughout his career
Sometimes when immature people like each other, they'll pretend to hate each other out of shame. It's very high school thing to do. And Jessica was like 18 or 19 and fresh out of high school most likely. Probably secretly had the hots for him, and was just lashing out to fight it.
Yep. She was trying to convince herself that she doesn't like him. In the end she still invited him over to spend the night while her man was away. Too bad for this guy he was too young to understand what was going on. That little trifling floozy offered herself on a golden platter and he didn't make a move
It surprises me that based on the comments, everybody seems to be taking Jessica's "pretty boy" comment at face value, as if she just wanted to be mean to him. There must not be any women or pick up artists commenting on here. Jessica was clearly attracted to him and that's the kind of thing a young woman would do to test the guy to see if 1) He can see through her BS and call her out on it and 2) He will be affected emotionally by it. The dude could have been in bed with her if he wanted.
The ONLY reason why someone tears down another person like she did Jensen is because they're threatened by them. It wasn't that she was under so much pressure, it was she was insecure about herself on that show and when Jensen walked in, she attacked him for being "another pretty face,' (other than her's.) and she didn't like it. She probably felt she wasn't enough to keep an audience so they brought in Jensen.
Yeah because being a 19year old teenager lead star on a show watched by millions and under a highly misogynistic production had nothing to do with it .... get a grip ...
I felt like they NEVER made Jared number 1. Maybe during the seasons when they were trying to close Hell but even that was pushing it... I would had been nice to have arch like Dean. Kinda got tired of it...I know Jared had his moments...like his powers, being Satan vessel, losing his soul but I feel like even then Dean got the over all story line.
Sheppard comes from old stock, Sheakspeare Royal company, possibly Peter Brooke, big on theater on his father's side and it shows. He's way better than Jared. He kept the show going for years. beaver was amazing too.
😂😂😂 Facts my boy Crowley was better than Sam. Dean was always the superior character, the writers just had a hard on for Sam. Show got progressively worse post S5 Kripke departure and the ending was just trash.
There's 2 or 3 novels that pad the story out based on what they had planned, not great writing but not awful either. One of them is prequel that explains how & why Max ended up in Seattle.

I read all this dirt online years ago. One thing they didn’t get into that I think was a factor was Jessica Alba was dating the other male lead, and that guy was really threatened by Jensen coming on the show because Jensen was younger, hotter, and had a far more interesting character. As other lead’s girlfriend, Jessica would side with him and that added to the overall tension on set.
i remember catching dark angel here in the PH at studio 23! it was my favorite back then and so imagine how surprised i was that this new guy i was crushing on years and years later was in that same show hahaha

I loved Jensen as The Red Hood in the DC animated movie. His voice alone can carry so many emotions in one line. Comedic chops as well! Such an underrated performer, Hollywood ought to get wiser..

I've always been appreciative of Jensen's straightforward nature. I love that quality in people, that authenticity.
Meh.

The switch-up in Jensen's clones' personalities on Dark Angel, from his season one religious psycho Ben, to season two's smart-Alec, sold me on Jensen's acting.

@@maxguevara5204 Agreed. There were loads of sexual tension between the characters and people shipped it like crazy back them.
WORD!
hmmm I agree with most of that, but I can't say I agree with you about Max's character arc.
The sequel book was not too bad or fantastic. It did what it could by having a series ending within 275 pages.
@@mking1982098 Max turned into a bitch in the second season and always treated Alec very badly. It’s hard to watch now.

Its cool to hear even after the conflicts there was a modicum of familial respect.

THE WAY malec was so real T-T and I KNEW that michael weatherly was fkn it up
Loved that show, shame it ended.
People need to watch this full clip instead of relying on all those clickbait articles.
Now, I want to see these two in a rom-com 🤣
ALBA WAS 19 and the lead in a massive show, that the network had no idea how to handle/promote, she got into a relationship with Michael Weatherly really quickly who was nearly 14 years older than her, and was moving really fast to getting engaged and shit, I can imagine that she was getting a lot of earache from Weatherly about Jensen being cast on the show, if Weatherly's makeover in season 2 was anything to go by, he looked a mess lol, and also he was getting pushed out of the series, by the character Jensen played I can imagine that ALBA was not having fun at home.

It surprises me that based on the comments, everybody seems to be taking Jessica's "pretty boy" comment at face value, as if she just wanted to be mean to him. There must not be any women or pick up artists commenting on here. The ONLY reason why someone tears down another person like she did Jensen is because they're threatened by them.
@@0glassrose0 And they created Dean/ crowley to have actors who could pull it off.
😂😂😂 Facts my boy Crowley was better than Sam. Dean was always the superior character, the writers just had a hard on for Sam. Show got progressively worse post S5 Kripke departure and the ending was just trash.
Paul Walker had the exact same reaction about working with Alba. Says alot really.
I wish Dark Angel could have run for a little longer.
There's 2 or 3 novels that pad the story out based on what they had planned, not great writing but not awful either. One of them is prequel that explains how & why Max ended up in Seattle.
Jenson Ackles was fucking great in Dark Angle. Specailly version 2.0
Jenson would make an excellent audio book narrator!
How Jensen is not a superstar?
Oh , right he has Pride in himself, and he doesn't give A.F.
One of my best friends growing up had a massive crush on my older brother; this is precisely how she treated him.
Why?
@@janalope3443 it was her immature version of pulling pigtails on the playground. She genuinely thought she was flirting with him, being verbally and physically competitive with him. He hated it. And he was a smart, physically capable guy. But she was a bully.
I wished I lived in a universe where my life stayed the same way but Jensen and Jessica had become a couple, made beautiful babies and where dark angle hasn’t been cancelled after only two seasons to see more of them.
I think he did miss something lol, great channel btw Michael and crew
More like dodged a bullet. It's like that Chris Rock stand up routine, "it doesn't matter how hot she is, there is some guy out there right now that is completely sick of her s*it."
@@TheSuperhomosapien Spoken like a true incel.
@@TheSuperhomosapien 👏🏼👏🏼
Love hate relationship. I appreciate Jensen's honesty! I miss Dark Angel. ❤😢
This is GREATNESS,
Ur killing it Mike👏 SUPER IMPRESSED BY YOUR TRANSITION
So you mean Alba called him because she’s freaked out by some SUPERNATURAL stuff in her apartment?
Of course.
Love how honest Jensen is!
I knew Jensen would be chad, just from watching his work as Dean in Supernatural. Kudos. 💪🏽
I find it curious that Jensen brings up Jessica's "man" and won't name drop that it was Michael Weatherly.
Oh, I remember him. I used to watch dark angel all the time, well as long it was on air.
Jensen is the best thing that happened to The Boys. Great job on that
The boys was still awesome without but he did great

No it wasn’t only good thing was Homelander
i remember catching dark angel here in the PH at studio 23! it was my favorite back then and so imagine how surprised i was that this new guy i was crushing on years and years later was in that same show hahaha
after being on Supernatural all those years he probably understands the pressure Jessica was going through even more and he was a lot older when he started Supernatural than Jessica was doing Dark Angel. First season of Dark Angel was so great and then S2 ruined it.
Ackles always seems like he's being genuine. He doesn't come off like a Hollywood slave who's trying to please everyone when he speaks.
Lex Luthor interviewing Dean Winchester holy shit
