The one and only Tom Welling (Smallville, Professionals) joins us again this year as we reminisce on the recent 20th anniversary of Smallville and discuss the differences in our time shooting the show and interacting with castmates. As we return to cons, Tom talks about his experience as a father being away from his family and the surprise realization he now has away from home. We also talk about fatherhood, upcoming Smallville projects, and his experience working with Brendan Fraser.

@@dillonoickle5841 the Black balling was mostly, due to his assault by a dodgy powerful Holywood agent and the fact that He wanted better working conditions, especially , for stunt works.

As gentle and reserved as He project. I don't think He quite realised the joy He brought to millions across the world. But I'm forever grateful and hope He can still continue safely doing,what He loves.

This is why Smallville will always be the best Superman series, the chemistry between the actors was real even in real life. The casting director was a genius.

I'm from South Africa but from Cape Town and Im scared of Joburg city especially when there is taxi violence involved. Glad you are safe and hope things go smoothly for my summer road trip down the coast :)
Another great interview with Tom Welling. This was a crazy story with Brendan Fraser. Professionals seems like a cool project.
It's great to see these actors or actresses that were big (and underappreciated, maybe overexposed) when I was younger getting their due and getting more work. I remember reading a great personal piece on Fraser years ago and the guy is very down to earth, humble. I believe the writer showed up to his property and he was splitting logs for his woodpile

One of the best actors on the show was Glover, next to Tom and yourself.

large parts of the joburg area are great, up around sandton and bryanston are some of the nicest neighborhoods I've ever been in felt like california, but downtown joburg is something else.... I wouldn't think hollywood actors would feel safe down there without security. By and large though, SA is one of the most beautiful countries with such amazing people everyone who has the means should visit it at some point.
After seeing this clip I went and watched the trailer ... it looks good ... don't watch many new show, but will give this one a try

I still don't know what possesses people to locate film crews to legitimately dangerous locations to get production values. Getting accidentally shot by your co-star due to a mishap is bad enough, but to get shot on purpose by real bad hombres is just not fucking worth it.
Money. Turns out it's much cheaper to shot outside the US. South African film industry has grown a lot these past few years. Lots of US shows and movies are being filmed here.
@@FMpimper yeah it was a dirt cheap production, used to sell the show to streamers. Then CW picked it up 2-3yrs later, I think Tom was a executive producer and Brandon's career was dead at that point it was made before suicide squad.

As a south african I have to say, "he aint lying" it's dangerous here, you had bodyguards and all that, now imagine the stress and anxiety very day in the life of a south african. here your life is worth less than a cell phone and we have strict gun laws as well. As usual the government simply turns a blind eye or simply says "we condemn the violence while stealing public funds." Mandela is turning in his grave.

I lived in Johannesburg for 4 years. Its strange sometimes awesome and sometimes car jacking in daylight.
The first time I heard about carjacking was in joburg
Saw Brendan at a small film fest. He was kind of an overweight wreck from divorce and punishing alimony but things like playing a guard in The Affair and Doom Patrol brought him back.
That and he broke his back, I heard

CW finally aired it the end of last year and I really like the show! I think if people realize it's on (I personally don't think enough advertisement for it happened), they will watch and it will get picked up.
With all the harrowing situations on the show, it's a little scary and very interesting to know that being on location for filming was kind of almost just as dangerous! I've worked lots of different productions and never felt like I could die at any time going to and from set. Of course I've only filmed in southeastern North Carolina and north and eastern South Carolina in the USA, so that might not be saying much. Except for the times we filmed in bat guano filled defunct cement plant, the time I got heat stroke from being in sun too long on a small airport tarmac or working outside at night being a person allergic to mosquitoes, nothing too serious.
I hope that dangerous part of their filming is taken care of when they go back for a second season!

Really? I don't mean to be rude, but did you have your head under a rock during all of the rioting, looting, and mass shootings in Kwa'Zulu, Johannesburg, and Durban during the summer of 2021? People died. It was all over the news. You would have to be pretty sheltered to not see any of this reported in your country.

I watched the Professionals, all 10 episodes, back in August 2020, when it was produced by Viaplay. Not bad, is was pretty entertaining and fun.
