    Do we need a lift kit or rim replacement or just keep the original rims for these tires? Thanks

      @Africasideways  7 днів тому +1

      What size rims are you running? Most tyres have options for different size rims. For offroad 16/17 inch is best.

    The Latitude cross is not available for 19 inch rims in France and from what I see in the wblink you gave me in a previous message also not available for a 19 inch rim in SA.

    Great review. From this selection, which is best for fuel economy in any order?

    • @Africasideways
      @Africasideways  5 місяців тому

      Thanks, very similar, the more aggressive tread patterns will have a slightly worse fuel economy. Dunlop AT5 and Michelin Latitude Cross fair well on fuel economy.

    I have the Michelin Cross climate on 19 inch rims - this is the closest to the Latitude cross Michelin advised me for my rims. I'm happy with them but I never thought of them as very off-roadish, I have taken them on country lanes, forest /gravel roads, a bit of mud (not good), some shallow water crossings, they are OKish but I have been looking for something a bit more heavy duty, but if you put the Latitude cross at no. 2 and say they are good enough for Africa. I can live with my cross climate ones for now. If you come across anything more offroadish for 19 inch rims pls let us know. The other tricky part in my predicament is that they do not only have to be 19inch but also V-speed rating. Not that I ever reach such speeds but it is insurance/MOT requirement as per manufacturers specs.

      Not the same tyres, those are highway tyres. ever considered dropping to a smaller rim?

      @@Africasideways Yes my car can take 18 inch rims and then I will need a 235/60R18 102V tire BUT the problem is the V-speed rating. Even on 18 inch most off road tires go up to H speed rating.

      @@Africasideways Also a set of 5 rims will easily be a €2K and I'm unsure if I want to keep the vehicle long term (already have it 8 years) and it is 11 years old. And it is not that good of an off roader.

      No point in changing if you like to drive fast and the car has no offroad ability. Rather buy a Prado or Pajero Sport if you plan on adventuring.
