Being from Canada, southern Ontario specifically, my fish and chip order is probably different from most Brits. First, always halibut. It's pricey, but oh so delicious. Also, mushy peas and curry sauce are not really a thing here. I like a side of cole slaw with my F&C. Lots of malt and salt of course, along with tartar sauce. Water is my go to beverage for just about everything. I've never tried a "chip butty" but I'm open to it. Nice of you to mention Gareth. Having been mostly teetotal all my life (I never really enjoyed the taste, and had no interest in getting drunk for the sake of getting drunk) I really have no idea how difficult it is to quit drinking, but I certainly applaud his decision.

Its a trade off between the fish and chips being streamed in transit and not going cold, staying hot. I've noticed some places are now doing boxes with air holes to help prevent the soggy offering when you get home.
Watching this made me think of when I tried my first English fish and chips with you and it was so good!! Good times. The fish from this new place did look quite greasy in the paper but oddly enough still had some crunch to it. At least the flavour was ok even if it wasn't the best you've had. 😁👍🏼💙

In response to your question, Darren, about drinking fizzy (soft) drinks with fish & chips. I wouldn't normally - tea, a beer (lager), a Guinness, or glass of white wine being my usual options, and all go well. However, once on my birthday I have enjoyed some quality fish and chips while sat on the beach (in Aldeburgh, Suffolk), sharing a bottle of prosecco and it went down a treat!
I remember the old days when fish and chips where wrapped up in newspaper, could be my imagination but they tasted great in those days. Yours looked okay except being a tad greasy, i would settle for that, cheers DJ.
I do not live in the UK anymore but my sister lives on the outskirts of London, she says since covid and lockdowns people get deliveries all day in her road, they do not cook anymore, doesnt sound healthy to me

I had Fish and Chips delivered the other day and sorry Darren I did notice the difference in a Fish Shop you can get this freshly cooked but I would the ones that are delivered have been sitting under those lights for sometime. So it's a taxi, wait and return or on line. Which ever one I chose, its going to add £5 or £6 for fares or charges. Any way as you say, the straight from pan to paper. Giant oil slick, they never let them drain. And I confess, I like the the " clumps of chips" hold over from childhood, lovely 😋Was disappointed that you broke the major rule on fish'n'chips. The biggest problem with delivery of good fish and chips is using plastic bags for travelling purposes. It makes any fried food sweat. Our fish and chips have improved beyond measure since single use plastic bags (I live in Victoria, Australia) have been banned. Also they tend not to be as greasy. When is GB going to ban single use plastic bags? I also notice that the chips were wrapped in what looked like butchers paper which is as good if not better than newspaper especially since you do not get covered in newspaper ink. I remember many a visit to the beach and have speckles black hands from eating chips from the newspaper wrapping but as a kid you do not worry about such things because you are too hungry to waste time running to the water's edge to wash them. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🤗🤗
I said to another food bloke on here, Garry eats. He makes videos just as good as the BBC probably for about 100 quid. You are the same. If the BBC made this video it would probably cost 200 grand! Keep up the good work!
Good that we all like different things to eat. Cod is the only fish I eat but I hate ketchup. Curry sauce is lovely on both fish and chips and I can’t eat potatoes without salt. Maybe I’m fussy.
Years ago take away fish and chips were wrapped firstly in clean,new paper and then wrapped up in newspaper which was brought in by customers after they had read it.l think it was banned because of hygiene issues.

I order rock from my local chippy with Deliveroo in Colliers Wood and the fish is the crispiest and crunchiest plus they always add a small handful of chips that are just enough for me, perfect every time. 😊

Fish & Chips, Good portions and it looked alright. Not a bad price. It filled a hole DJ. I would prefer to go and have a meal of Fish & Chips in a restaurant. On a plate and with a Knife and Fork. I do Not use my Fingers. I do have very Good table manners.
Best take a way fish and chips I have ever had was from Haltwhistle in Cunbria. Daughter at Uni in Carlisle and we are in Nth Yorkshire so every other weekend I;d go pick her up on a Friday and return her Sunday. Second or third time she said she was hungry coming back so we dipped off the A69 into Haltwhistle. I got her fish and chips and drove off and they were awesome. Got them every other weekend save for holidays for the next 3 years. The secret? I think it was they were cooked fresh to order and put in a box which I asked them not to close as we were across the street so they never got chance to "sweat" in any sort of wrapping so they were restaurant fresh

Darren, Be very alert when you come to NYC. Lots of crazy things going on. People on mini scooters robbing people taking their bags and getting away on the scooters. People going around punching people in the head. Etc., Etc. Just be alert and observing and you should be fine.
Unless its the shop themselves youve had delopver these apps like just eat etc all add up to 35% extra onto it, theres quid here n there on items and then service etc its crazy. You can phone up and pick it up and pay 6-8 quid less round here
That fish n chips looks a lot better than "Gary eats" had in Irelands oldest chippy. Honestly it was awful..I've got used to having apple cider vinegar on my chips,also love a bit of lemon to squeeze on my fish.btw a crusty roll as a chip butty cant be beaten.

Back in February, my 19 year old Candy Washing Machine died, and my new Hisense Inverter has six buttons and a twiddly knob! Are those eggs on the worktop, next to the oven and microwave? ... When I have fish and chips takeaway, I always stick it in the oven for 10 mins to heat up, that helps get the crispiness back on the chips and cod.

Best take a way fish and chips I have ever had was from Haltwhistle in Cunbria. Daughter at Uni in Carlisle and we are in Nth Yorkshire so every other weekend I;d go pick her up on a Friday and return her Sunday. Second or third time she said she was hungry coming back so we dipped off the A69 into Haltwhistle. I got her fish and chips and drove off and they were awesome. Got them every other weekend save for holidays for the next 3 years. The secret? I think it was they were cooked fresh to order and put in a box which I asked them not to close as we were across the street so they never got chance to "sweat" in any sort of wrapping so they were restaurant fresh
Hey DJ, We had Fish & Chips delivered tonight, it came in a box, If I go out to the chip shop to collect it myself it's also served in a box, I've not seen fish & chips wrapped in paper for a long time. Thoughtful shout out to Gareth
We are lucky in wilt's Cod and chips £4.85 half decent food and size.😀
Nice that you gave a shout out to Bald Foodie Guy, I have a Chinese chippy next door and to be honest I think the novelty has worn off for me. I'm also metres away from Weatherspoons so I go there a lot. Fish & chips are cheaper and you get a pint 👍

Unless its the shop themselves youve had delopver these apps like just eat etc all add up to 35% extra onto it, theres quid here n there on items and then service etc its crazy. You can phone up and pick it up and pay 6-8 quid less round here

That fish n chips looks a lot better than "Gary eats" had in Irelands oldest chippy. Honestly it was awful..I've got used to having apple cider vinegar on my chips,also love a bit of lemon to squeeze on my fish.btw a crusty roll as a chip butty cant be beaten.
