Can you imagine if the young lad had missed the blue? There could have been a cheating accusation that Selt put him off. Worst behaviour I’ve ever seen in a professional match.
Absolute shame on Matthew Selt, bet he wouldnt even make a sound if it was Ronnie or some top ranked players making the fluke. Any fluke at this level of play could be frame decisive, and this close red miss fluke to the opposite pocket along the cushion wasnt even one of those rarely seen one. If he is that good he wouldn't even need to go to decider. One of the reasons why he can't win tournaments. Salute to Zizins potted the difficult blue at that side of the table, with angry Selt on his eye sight probably staring at him. Well deserve the win
People are so angry with Selt, but I find this hilarious, as do most of the other players. I'm not sure he can control it, just like his hair pulling out disorder. He's unhinged, but what's wrong with that? None of us are perfect, he just happens to put his problems on full display.
He gets too frustrated, but so do many players lower down the rankings. Most can contain their feelings, Selt often fails to do that. Most of the other players find him funny, I remember Jack Lisowski laughing a lot when he got a nice run of the balls against Selt, who was having another meltdown. The fluke on match ball in a decider, was too much for Selt to take.
This young Artemijs Zizins is very calm, he will go far, I predict a brilliant future for him in snooker. it's part of the game another time it will be Matthew who will have the chance, this young man does not have to worry about having been lucky on this occasion he won full stop and congratulations
Can you imagine if it was the other way around and Selt got the fluke and Zizins behaved in that manner!! the amount of bad press that kid would have got would be obscene! On the other hand If it was Ronnie who did what Selt did the WPBSA would have a field day!
I think what made it worse for Selt is that the fluke happened after Zizins foolishly attempted to make a ridiculously-hard pot that not even Ronnie or Judd would attempt! He was probably delighted to see he was going for the pot and assumed he would be back at the table after Zizins inevitably missed.
I actually think people have got the wrong end of Mathew Selt here, I spoke to him on the phone a few days after this incident. He said that he had apologised to the kid and the ref, and he had spoken to a sport psychology therapist. The therapist gave him some massages that he could do (on his head, hands, and thighs) during the matches to help keep him composed. I said to him would that not be a little distracting? He said that he would only do the massages when the player was shooting downtable. I said no not that, rubbing Selt into the wound when your getting beat! I'm in hospital now, never been stabbed by a snooker cue until I said that to him!
Wished him good luck after he'd ruined the end of the match for the lad,, clearing up those last few balls on your way to a victory is a nice feeling. But yeah nice of him to say sorry.

This level of outburst should be considered harassment of the opponent…the young kid did not feel safe in this environment.WPBSA needs to recognise this .

It's not a good look and he'll be embarrassed about it once he calms down, but I think this goes a lot deeper. It shows the pressures of the pro tour these days. Players around Matthew's ranking are not earning great money, in fact you might be surprised how little is left after expenses are deducted. There are a lot of top top snooker players who are often on the verge of quitting the sport altogether and getting a regular job. It's a shame that snooker doesn't get near to matching other sports in terms of earning potential, but I also get that's the case for many other sports. Huge dedication for very little return.

In 45 years, I'd suggest there's quite a number of things you've missed. Do you think it is more disgraceful than match fixing just to give an obvious example.............
@@karlhandley9375 i haven't seen match fixing by a seasoned professional against a newcomer. Instead of rushing to comments with your emotions (and ego) on full power, turn on your reading and comprehension abilities to full power.
Been watching snooker 25 years myself and I've seen some things
But this is just bang out of order
Poor zizins looks distraught after winning but the Carry on from selt and the noise afterwards is just bang out of order .
He's got previous form for this and I sincerely hope the book is thrown at him
@@RussellMutch that's right he does have previous form which for some reason most/all in the snooker media appear slow to go over, maybe because he's mates with Hendry, not sure really.. the sporting media is a very odd machine. He's on the WPBSA Players' Board...and previously been fined for sending insulting tweets...unstable on the Wenbo scale almost.
@countbasi4680 yeah he had the incident with Selby at the crucible a few years ago warned for swearing between shots .
Seen the twitter thing aswel
Conceded in Saudi Arabia mid frame aswel..
I understand this is a hard sport and it's tough but there's another 50 players or so all battling to keep a tour card and none of them behave like this
It's hard to know what ban of fine he gets but I hope it hits him hard
He's done nothing in his career and never will . An absolute joke of a professional
Just wondering if there was a locker room left for Zizins to go back to?🤔
😂😂
People are so angry with Selt, but I find this hilarious, as do most of the other players. I'm not sure he can control it, just like his hair pulling out disorder. He's unhinged, but what's wrong with that? None of us are perfect, he just happens to put his problems on full display.
@@sharpvidtubeHis reaction is unacceptable, everything is wrong with it.
It wasn't the fluke that young kid had.....it was the whole match. If he had played better,it wouldn't have got to a deciding frame
Nice ironic touch from the young lad wishing Selt a good Christmas.
Absolutely disgraceful behaviour…bringing the game into disrepute.
Selt, the McEnroe of snooker!
YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!!
😡😂
Just 100 times worse of a player in comparison. Lost to some thai guy that never wins a match a few days ago.
Yes it hurts of course it does, but...
One thing you do not EVER do in snooker is shake your opponents hand if he is on a break
They do that all the time in qualifying.
Haha u can hear him throw his cue against the wall multiple times backstage
There's only one thing worse than being talked about and that is not being talked about.
Telling him to have a good Christmas is excellent shithousery
Shocking needs a ban the kid handled it well and the ref
Ref should have warned him straight away in my opinion. Rather than tiptoeing around the brat
Ref bottling it. What a spineless berk.
Bad reaction from Selt but he is probably desperate for ranking points & in his defense he wished Zizins good luck, in fact he said it twice .
True , then seconds later he desotryed the whole locker room in the back😂😂😂
Wished him good luck after he'd ruined the end of the match for the lad,, clearing up those last few balls on your way to a victory is a nice feeling. But yeah nice of him to say sorry.
@@Abbiekesey Almost every player quits early in the qualifiers, not bothering to let their opponent clear up, nothing unusual about that. They let the opponent clear up when there's a crowd, in the tournament.
Such an emotive game on the quiet is snooker, zizins showed his emotions at the fluke and Matt done the same 🤷🏼♂
Selt has form for being a bit arsey. The next frame winning fluke could be for him. It works both ways.
It wasn't only frame winning, it was match winning, in a decider. That's the worst possible time to have a fluke against you.
@@sharpvidtubegotta decide, is this a gentleman's game or not. If so, no chance this should be allowed and he should have the book thrown at him.
"Medication Time ". .The Jack Nicholson of snooker
At least it shows selt isn’t one of those players to take a back hander to lose a game !
Keep calm. Let the opponent finish the game!
I’ve seen Joe Perry smack the wall next to his chair against Kowalski a few months ago, but this is another level omd🤦♂️
Selt should just hustle in seedy pool clubs.
Absolutely disgusting ,,,poor lad only trying his best ,,Barry hearn needs to look into this ,
Absolutely shocking sportsmanship no need for all that at all
Selt got those dark possessed eyes
Anger management needed 😊
I would rather see Stephen Lee back on the tour in exchange for "Selt the melt"
Superb ref; superb how he dealt with it all. I haven't seen meltdowns like that in an amateur tourney, less alone a pro one. Selt has got some serious problems to sort inside himself.
snooker is a mind game. Selt didn’t lose because of the fluke but due to a lack of mental strength.
Dang I first watched it without audio now with it on he really did have a hissy fit, he can get animated sometimes but I've not seen him like that. Just having a bad day and i'm sure he will be fined so that won't make is mood any better :D I do feel for the young lad he's playing it's a big game for him and he would rather forget about it now.
He lost 5 frames. You can't put that down to one red
When Selt was 2-0 up he started digging his own grave by playing slower than Ebdon on sleeping pills.
So glad Artemijs won.
This level of outburst should be considered harassment of the opponent…the young kid did not feel safe in this environment.WPBSA needs to recognise this .
Not safe? It what way was he in any danger? I’m not defending Selt, he was unprofessional and overreacted, but safety doesn’t come into it.
@ ,,,I’ve seen it happen back in the day ,,,,when I was an amateur on the circuit…the odd player has a habit of spitting his dummy out because hes tiered of losing and resorts to intimidation tactics .most tactics are subtle. I played with a world champion from the ninety’s who told me about tactics that certain big names would try to lower opponents confidence,,it happens in all top sports .sink or swim from it is the attitude.
You can't blame him !!😂😂
It's not a good look and he'll be embarrassed about it once he calms down, but I think this goes a lot deeper. Huge dedication for very little return.
exact no one is forcing them to waste their life on a sport that have no other option than win or get broke. When i hear them cry about snooker being their job i mean suck it up daisies.Look at the wave of young talent coming from asia already playing at 3 level above Selt play.
selt is crap will never be a top 16 player he should go to india to live where he won a two bit title goog riddance off the tour cannot stand him
If he’s not good enough to make a living playing snooker, let him get a real job.
He's not doing too badly he's on £65K so far this season having earned £91k last season.
Ahem....Trump's statement today - "Another one million pounds isn't going to make much difference to my life". Too many snooker players are spoit, entitled, whingers these days.
Snooker would be boring without that level of drive, and you rarely get to see it like this. Must be hard to not have a meltdown out there.
Must have felt un ‘Selt’ tled at the end there 😂
This is how the game goes, sometimes lady luck favours your opponent.... absolutely nothing you can do about it. Just accept it and TRY be a good sportsman, coz I'm sure you've been on the other end before.
My respect for Selt has just dropped a few notches... good showing by young Zizins
It's two geezers knocking balls around a 12ft x 6ft table - wind your neck in Selt, flukes happen all the time.
Not usually on match ball, in a deciding frame. I don't think people get the context here. Selt obviously has issues, but I can relate to him, this is someone being human.
