Truth be told When this album was originally released the tour for it would be the second time for me to see them live and the last time I would see Cliff perform (Ride the Lightning/Metal up your ass tour '84 - Master of Puppets tour '85) both in Wichita Kansas. Ironically, as one of many who enlisted right after 9/11, fast foward 20 yrs later and I found myself having completed back to back tours in Afghanistan and gearing up for Iraq. This song was directed more towards Vietnam vets who were drafted into service and had no choice. Soldiers of today, like myself, we weren't forced into nothing. We volunteered. We picked ourselves up and answered the call entirely of our own accord. We know the risks, we know what could happen, and some of us have seen the horrors of what could happen first hand. But we knew that could happen and we accepted it. We love our country, the Constitution, and our people, that's why we do it. To protect our country. A true soldier fights not because he hates what's in front of him, but because he loves what's beside of and behind him.
