Like the little stove. My first was the old type of Camping Gaz stove which screwed directly into the blue canister, the type which has been around as long as the hills. One day I was having my breakfast and a flame suddenly spurted out of the joint between the canister and the stove. Frightened it was about to explode I picked it up and threw it over the hedge like a hand grenade. I waited batedly for the explosion, and waited a bit more and nothing happened. I furtively looked over the hedge. On the other side the stove was lying on its' side on the grass. Cows were blissfully and contentedly grazing all around. I did go into the field to pick up my dangerous litter but I never used it again!
It's amazing how different places like that look in different weather conditions. Give me warm sunshine every time !! Stunning part of the walk Becks. Can't wait for the conclusion mate xx
Great video. Thanks for sharing. It brings me back to my trip 10 years ago. Your videos have gotten me decide to redo the trip again 🤗 looking forward to the next one. Greeting from Denmark 🇩🇰
Great video Becky 👍 looking forward to the next part . Stay safe during the next lockdown and of course as always keep us all entertained with your videos . You are doing a great job 👍
I’m really enjoying your adventure. I like to prepare my porridge in individual bags for the amount of breakfasts that I need. I measure the amount of oats that I like, add two teaspoons of marvel or any other dried milk and a teaspoon of sugar. I then put it in a small sealed bag. When it’s time to eat it I pour the mixture in my aluminium bowl and add boiling water, give it a good stir and wait 5mins. Then it’s ready just add whatever toppings you like. It saves getting your pot dirty. Best to use that to just boil your water.
As Becki leaves the gold paning of Trindum and walks onward across Ranock Moor she sees a Carn on top of a hill before arriving at Kings Hotel. No idea were she is, must be somewhere near souf of England. Must remember to arsk we're the varst place is! Wot barnter ! 😂
Was starting to feel the lockdown blues creeping in after yesterday's news and the weather put pay to getting out this weekend, watching this was a real lift, thank you.
Hi again Becky, your moving right along .That trail you were on looked pretty rocky tough to walk on.Also liked that banana oatmeal breakfast you whipped up lol! Looks good! Take care now and stay safe!!
You are so courageous to be out hiking on your own in Scotland and it is nice that you found some local people who was willing to aid you and I hope that all continue to go as planned for your trip.
Lyme's Disease is no joke. If you've pulled a tick out of yourself go get a check at the doctors. Doesnt matter how long it was on there. Only takes a second for it spit infected blood back into you - especially when it's disturbed. On a lighter note - planning on doing the West Highland Way next year (planned to do it this year, but y'know..). Looks exactly what I'm needing right now :-)
I carry dried goods. A mix of dried fruit and every morning I add a handful to a small plastic container and then 120ml of water. The next morning it has reconstituted and I have a drink of fruit juice. Broken spaghetti, porridge, dried onions, tube of garlic paste, tubes of tomato puree, salt pepper, sugar, coffee, high protein oatmeal bars, beef jerky, tiny Mars/Twix bars, dried milk reconstituted the same time as my fruit. When I beach my kayak at a village/town, I buy sandwiches, lunch, fresh fruit and veg and perhaps a cider or two. In ten weeks I maintain my weight and energy levels by eating a high protein diet. Adding tomato puree to the water makes tomato soup so adding to your pasta, onion and beef jerky meal. A semi-soup if you will. Ah, water purification tablets and a Moko filter or similar a must! Never ever take chances with water! EVER! This from a man who has spent years in the Sahara and has kept my health by not taking chances.
Hi from a South African living in Switzerland .. 👍 .. Wow, Beautiful. The Scenery reminds me so much of my Home Town Region in South Africa .. Western Cape .. Kleinmond to Rooi Els. Mountains and with vegetation very similar to the 'Heather' in Scotland except that we call it 'Fynbos' and there are approximately 9000 varieties thereof. One of the Floral Kingdoms of the World. Breakfast Oats with Banana .. my daily GoTo .. l'm addicted 😊. I mix Honey and Crunchy Peanut Butter 50/50 and allow it to set in the Fridge. Cut into blocks (approx 2 table spoons glop size) and wrapped in Alu Foil, it keeps well. Together with Cayenne Pepper, Cinnamon and Banana .. Yumm. I also slice the banana very thin and chuck it in at the onset so that it dissolves into the porridge 💛. Great Stuff so far, thanks 👍 .. please them coming .. take care ..
Hi Always look forward to your video, agree with you about the porridge, beautiful blue sky, the stone walls the mountains and your commentary is just brilliant🌟🌟be safe. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Hi Becky, new subscriber here. I found your channel while I was searching about bushcraft thing and really likes your videos. Hope to see more of them 🙂
Some beautiful views there mate....not sure about porridge though 😅 Miss you doing the bushcraft stuff in the woods and although I love seeing where you visit and the amazing views, do love more than anything, being in the woodland. Oh, bought the hammock setup now....just waiting til I'm well enough to go out and take it out of the bag and set up for the first time and to try a sleep out. Will probably do it during the upcoming house arrest 😂👍❤️
Glad I found you on youtube. Really enjoy your videos. You're a inspiration for ME, let alone my daughters! Reckon the country needs more young people like you. Just saying.....

Hi Becky, you really lived an great adventure hiking through that wonderful landscape and climates. It's nice to hear your voice in your comments. I could see a lot stones on the way so i guess this affects yout walking speed considering the weight of the backpack and the caution of taking each step safely? Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱
Abrazo
I'm really enjoying this series, its a shame there is only one episode left, but hey, all good things must come to an end. Keep well and I hope you get to post some more soon. ATB David
When you go far into the forest, when your phone is silent, it does not catch the signal, and the sleeping bag on the foam replaces your favorite bed! When your dinner is boiling in a black pot on a hot fire, and all your clothes are soaked through with smoke. You forget about all your problems, they simply do not exist, there is you and the silence of the forest! The silence from which is muffling. Your senses sharpen as you hear the wind, the rustle of grass, and leaves. The creaking of the trunks. At this moment, you feel that you are alive, you are alive now, you listen to your breath, your heart, Nothing can replace these feelings. You are cleansed of all that weighed on you yesterday. Just you and nature. And you're on your own. You're alive now, and that's all that matters. For this we go to the forest. To experience it, over and over again. Those who have experienced it will understand. Those who have not experienced it, still have everything ahead of them. Thank you for giving me this feeling. Thank you for making such content that attracts people to put on a backpack and go to wander along the forest path, your work makes people really happy. 👍
A good rule of thumb is 100 calories burned per mile walked. A brisk pace, going up some hills, and carrying a full ruck probably puts you at around 2200 - 2500 calories for the 17 miles. That’s around the intake a 180 lb man needs in a normal day to maintain his body weight; so eat up! I hate ticks. You can treat your clothes before leaving on a hike with a permethrin or picaridin spray like Sawyer’s. I’ve treated socks, shoes, trouser cuffs, ground cloths, and anywhere else the little varmints can enter. Hang the gear and let it air dry and they should remain effective through a few gentle washings. It does not adhere to skin. It kills ticks by frying their nervous system. It’s derived from plants. You just keep on powering through.
That's really interesting information about the 'Sawyer mini' water filter, Becky. The filter is good but the bags split? Where did you buy your 'CNOC Outdoors' 2 litre bag, I had a look on 'Ebay' but they don't have any?
I recently bought one, I had to go onto the internet and order one from a supplier’s website. They provide them in different thread sizes - the 28mm for Sawyer and the 42 mm for the Katadyn. Make sure you get the right one. They also provide them in two colours. The orange one is intended to be used for dirty water and the blue one for the clean. They’re identical in all other respects.
@@bob_the_bomb4508 I never knew about the different colours and what they indicate, Bob. thanks for that. It's the normal-sized 'Sawyer Squeeze' that I want to get, what was the name of the website you visited?

Becky can I ask when you pack your tent up when it is wet how do you store it in your backpack if you plan to use it again the next night?? Thankyou and take care. Jonathan
A rule of thumb is that about 100 calories per mile are burned for a 180-pound individual and 65 calories per mile are burned for a 120-pound individual. Your walking speed matters less.
What are you wearing on your feet ? I noticed early on your having foot problems , carrying an extra 5-7 stone of impact on your heels then pushing off that weight from your toes with the wrong midsoles will eventually grind your feets down . (A softer shock absorbing midsole for heavy packs )
Just one point, if you had something hitch a ride on your leg it would be a Tick, not a midge as you said. Midges fly in swarms but I'm sure that you've already encountered them.
Memorys walked that path twice once from mulgavie once from Leeds as a tramp lovely way to get the head back into shape .enjoy no midges this time of year .I was eaten alive .👌🍻👣
