I never use only one variety of grass when I seed. I have a MN northern lawn. The mixture I use is around 15% bluegrass, 35% ryegrass(2 varieties) and 50% fescue. It's more durable than one variety and handles drought better.
I bought a blend of both, 50/50. I live near Chicago so it's humid in summer & really cold in winter. If I overseed from now on with Kentucky Blue, will there be any problems? I heard Kentucky is better for this type of weather 🤔
Would love a longer version of this, couple more seed types or varieties, maybe a mow or two afterwards to see how it all compares in longer time. Great vid tho
Definitely KBG. The rye grass is beautiful but it can't handle the higher height I like to mow at. It starts flopping over and once that happens it's really hard to get it to stand straight and before you know it the whole lawn is a mess. You practically have to scalp the lawn to get it back to the way it was. It's just a huge hassle. Also KBG spreads, so if you have dead spots you don't have to worry, they'll fill out again given enough time.
@@CrAzYAuNtSiSsy The Kbg dont die off in winter. prg is the one that cant handle winters well. There was a study done where they said that prg does off 25% per year over winter. I mulch when I mow so I have not seen any significant die off
@@obsessedwithlawnoddswithgr2092 It's most important to have some amount of KGB in your lawn, just simply because KGB is such a funny acronym for grass.
