Hi Donald- Great shave and razor review; thank you! What a beautiful razor and it did a great job for you! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend and best regards, as always! See you next Saturday.
Cool review on that razor and looks like that you've fallen in love with it. Better than Occam's Razor Nano?? Wish I can order it but my wife will kill me as have too many razors here and I rotate them around but been going to my black Occam's Razor more often than others. Oh well have a good day sir.
Joe, I sure don't want to upset your wife but with that said if budget allows getting the golden cobra it's just stunning if not the all-metal one works just as well. Thanks for watching.
Ah darn! My Nano Enhanced is arriving in a few days, wasn't sure about this one since the Enoch far more aggressive, didn't want to blind buy their newer offerings. I'll see how the Nano Enhanced feels for me. Great shave.
@@MrDonXX No, didn't get the Hiram. As for the Nano, its a love hate thing with it. LOVE the way it shaves, hates how it feels in my hands. I am seriously contemplating sending it to a workshop to have the handle cut off and a regular Stainless Steel handle welded in its place. Haven't done it yet only because it'll just truly make it fugly Frankensteined
@@MrDonXX Don't get me wrong, I'd still use it because of how it shaves, and why the idea of giving it a better handle (for me) is still on the table. I just don't like the handle is all.
I'm actually surprised that you love the grip as much as you do. I actually have to put rosin on my hand to use it without it slipping in my hand and quite diligent about keeping them dry when shaving. I honestly wish the scaling design was more dramatic (deeper grooves) as that would've helped me immensely. That said, the shave seemed to be even closer and more comfortable than the nano and I didn't think that was possible. Upon closer examination, the guard had been reprofiled from what the nano is. Also, you can get the other heads but they are an extra charge (a big boo on that). Regardless, it's still a great razor I will reach for from time to time.
Thanks for the insight Craig, Yes I agree with the scaling although I had no trouble with it handling it felt just fine for me. As for having a closer shave, to me, they are the same. Love the feed-back thanks for watching
Ben that's going to be a tough one the company has raised prices to keep it's inventory because they can't make them during the pandemic and so have raised the price to $255.00 & 300.00 for the gold
@@MrDonXX Thank you for the fast answer. I returned back to my Schick adjustable injector razor that I purchased in 1975, and even found a few blades. This Hiram looks clean, simple and with a great handle, however may hold off at the new prices, Classic Shaving is not available by phone at this time. I may look for more injector blades. Thank you again and I enjoy all your reviews. Hope you have a great shave today!
I never used a single blade razor. What do you do when you are done with your shave and want to store your blade for the next shave. Keep it in the razor? Or can you put it bax in the box or some paper? Great video and a super good looking razor 👌
To answer your question John, you just keep it in the razor for the next time you shave. I do the same thing with DE razors as well no need to remove the blade after your done shaving in and DE or Single edge razor.
The top cap has two small notches on the underside, that fit into the blade slots to keep it in place. There's enough exposure of the back of the blade for you to pinch and grab once it's been inserted. Once you've got a hold of it, slightly push down in the middle ( think, a slight smile on the blade ) so that it clears the tabs while you're sliding it out in the opposite direction to when you put it in. There's probably a few videos on the tube.
Very nice. Did you have to bend the blade to load it into the razor by any chance? I have to do that with my Occam's SE razor. I was told that I really should try those Schick Proline blades in mine and that I would like them a lot better than the Feather AC blades. The Feather AC softguards was a bust. They really struggled to go through my beard.
I found this to be a very mild razor that is so-so in terms of efficiency. To preface, I'm very much a mild shaver with extremely coarse hair. So my go-to's include razors that I find to be forgiving, yet efficient such as a Karve w/plate B, Paradigm SE, Supply V2.0 1-dot plate or a Gillette Tech. On the other end of the spectrum, razors such as the Charcoal Goods LvL.2, Blackland Blackbird and Rex Ambassador on setting 1 (Yes...1 lol) were all WAAAY to aggressive for me with too much blade feel. . In my experience, if you want to at least experience what the Hiram is capable of, jump straight to the feather Pro supers. - My first run was with the Schick Prolines w/1.dot plate. Nothing. - Skipped right to the 3.dot...a liiiiiittle something, but still tons of stubble remained. - Moved straight to the 3.dot plate with feather Pro AC blades and this is probably a good starting place. The shave was decent with the added bonus of having absolutely no fear of nicking myself. Even with its weight, I reckon you'd be well safe if you're the heavy-handed type. I'd like to try the Feather Pro Supers because even with a Feather Pro, on setting 3, there was a LOT of buffing needed to finish the shave; and that was for a DFS. Not BBS. It's a great looking razor though and feels comfortable in the hand when using. The finishing/fine details could use some more attention though. There are some noticeable tool marks on the inner areas around the head, but can be overlooked. Overall, the fact that this required a more aggressive blade on the most aggressive setting, just to get the ball rolling, means that Classic Shaving has a great opportunity to make some enhancements while it's still early days because it definitely has potential.
Thank you for your insights It's hard to make one razor that pleases everyone with that said the adjustable heads come close to that possibility as we can see you doing. Yes! I agree with other comments that the scaling could be more defined. I didn't notice tool making on the one I was using but if they appeared on the Golder Cobra version I would be more than upset.thanks for the feed-back and thanks for watching.
The price was increased to this outrageous number was due to covid19 and manufacturing it most likely will come down to normal when all this is over and manufacturing resumes again
This guy is lucky because he's got a really round fat head which means he can shave really quickly without any accidents. It's always better if you have a fat head in shaving.
I’m right there with you on this razor. A Feather Pro on the two dot plate gave me an amazing shave.
Glad to see you recovered from the Enoch ..... Now this looks like a great razor.
It sure it an amazing razor!

Wow Don that was a great shave, it mowed your beard in no time, much better out come with this one, never knew Barbasol made DE razors.
Nor did I and if you watch this coming Saturday you'll see it in action thanks for watching
Can’t wait to see the video👍🏻
I haven't dabbled in the single blade realm yet, but I'm definitely going to keep this razor company in mind when I do.
It's a safe bet you'll like this one Johnny
Another good looking razor, still hoping that they will start sales here in the UK.
Cheers🍻
Looks like someone had an awesome shave. That razor looks great. 💈👍
Can't wait until review the barbasol razor I didn't know barbasol had made double edge razors and blades
That will be this Saturday and with a surprise product from Captin's Choice! Stay Tuned...
Gorilla snot works too, guitarists use is for gripping slippy picks!
*_Interesting, Thanks for the tip_*
Hiram looks like one I will get in the nearby future, thanks Don👍😁

Will you make a review of Broman Razor?

Yes but I have to wait for the funds the price of shipping that from the UK is killer

@Thomas Jefferson I actually do play the violin, or at least I used to. I rub the rosin on my hand to help grip the razor, not on my face
I take it you don't find blade chatter an issue with that floating blade?
It did not cause an issue for me. I had a wonderful shave with this razor I wish I could buy one today - thanks for watching
Sadly discontinued..
Is this your razor from your collection?
I wish it was but this was sent to me to demo
The Hiram, Occam's razor looks great. Where can I buy it for the prices you list on the review? $155.00 and $185.00? Thank you for your reviews.
