  • In this video I'm inspecting my Shishigashira Air Layer after 4 month of waiting. I will open the Air Layer ball (which i'm never using again) Inspect the roots and make a decision whether I will cut it from the mother plant and repot or not. Watch to find out. Eventually I'm planning on using my Air Layered Japanese Maple as a Bonsai.

    Free bonsai!
Next year if you try more air layers, try chopping your sphagnum a bit and add some perlite. At the end of the season the moss and perlite will just come off easily. You could even remove the layer and keep the ball arpund it all winter till spring...the perlite will help keep the roots from rotting.

The roots will push fast now that it's removed I try to keep them watered from the bottom for at least the first 2 weeks, yours looks like it should be fine 👍
Katsura was my strongest layer this year followed by Deshojo layering becomes addictive lol
