- Pulley / Tensioner Replacement 2.4L Compass Patriot Avenger Caliber Sebring. Belt squeak is unbearable. So I re-replace the idler pulleys and belt tensioner on a 2011 Jeep Compass.
This may also apply to:
2007-2017 Jeep Compass with 1.8 / 2.0 / 2.4L engines ;
2007-2017 Jeep Patriot with 1.8 / 2.0 / 2.4L engines ;
2007-2011 Sebring With 1.8 / 2.0 / 2.4L engines ;
2007-2011 Dodge Avenger with 1.8 / 2.0 / 2.4L engines ;
2007-2011 Dodge Caliber with 1.8 / 2.0 / 2.4 engines ;
To do this, I recommend first removing the passenger side wheel well splash guard cover (aka inner fender liner) and the coolant (aka antifreeze) overflow bottle.

It’s easier to remove the tensioner by removing the pulley first and then the bolts. I was able to replace just the pulley on my 2015. It’s just reverse threaded. Doing this again on another one I just picked up 👊🏻
I have a whinning on decel when car is slowing, is this the same noise?
I just ended up replacing the whole thing… easy fix.
No worries
What is "the whole thing"? The waterpump and ac and powersteering pump and all the pulleys?
