Always have loved the goldwings flat 6, but i always thought they lacked character cause they were so quiet. This is an excellent mod, makes the bike sound so much better and less "Sterile"
Glad i found this video , I’ve been trying to fiqure out for long time how to make my Wing sound better . Going to start on converting my 02 Wing tomorrow. Did you do this with muffs attached ?
Wow, that's low miles for a 2002, you have many carefree miles ahead. I hope the exhaust mod serves you well. Thanks for watching and following. Ride safe! 🦾
Hello, thank you for your excellent video 🙏🙏🙏. I had a question for you. I want to know if there has been any change in the size of the holes after using these exhausts for a while, due to heat or otherwise, and if the caps still fit easily in the holes and do not fall off ? Can I get your overall opinion after using the exhausts this way for a while? Thank you 🙏
Zero issues with the caps. The prongs on the caps can be bent to make them fit tighter. The trick is to use a good quality step drill bit that can withstand drilling in hard stainless steel. I like the sound with all caps out, so I don't even use them anymore. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
Sounds great man. I've seen other vids where a guy drilled a bunch of small holes in the back plate, but your sound is far superior with all the plugs out IMO. Well explained, and good job with the editing and mic's. Thank you
Can't tell you how much I appreciate your comment!!! I did spend some time on this video. I just checked out your "roof mildew" project video and will be interested in the results. Thanks again!!!
I like a little sound on my motorcycles. Not real loud but not Goldwing quiet. Lol. I drilled mine and dont worry about closing it. I love the sound and it was free. If I dont like it I just put a bolt in the hole
I'm getting ready to post a review I did on a new windshield for my Wing---comparing it to the original shield which will include sound meter difference. I did the original before the exhaust mod so when the new shield arrived I had to install the exhaust plugs to get an accurate comparison. When I finished I immediately removed the plugs, LOL. Before deciding on plugs I considered the bolt solution but 1 1/8 in bolts is a no go 😁. Thanks much for watching and commenting!!!
Thanks for the video and idea. I have been looking for a non expensive way to improve the sound on my 2018 dct. I will certainly have a good look at mine this winter. I am wondering if there might be a way to drill the holes and have a progressive plate that spins to shut off or open the holes in turn. But great idea thanks a lot
I also thought about a rotating plate but the end of the muffs on mine are not thick enough to support bolt or screw threads. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
Need to get rid of the catalytic converters ,that really helps the bike a lot. Custom chrome used to sell what they called torque loops that's a simple job to do.
I researched those. About $350 for a "claimed" 5 HP increase but I never could find dyno proof of that small amount. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I do not, in fact after initially testing with the caps in and out I have not put them back in. Thanks for watching and commenting, I certainly appreciate it!!!
😂and not one question, nor did thre story tell say....!, Do ya loose Horse Power...? Do ya need fuel or air or any type of adjustments.. Come on sound is one thing.. but not knowing if needed adjustments should be done...HELLO..//W.T.F P.S. if anyone asked and I missed the read.. I am sorry Richard
@@JSProjectWild thanks for responding, will fiqure something out on the metal filings when i get there lol… riding my wing tomorrow , will be almost 60 °here .
I would be drilling out the exact same place as the ones I did. Only the inserts in the end caps are different. Thanks for watching and commenting Paul!
Thats expensive , not much needed actually for a GW , more for like a sportsbike . But you shift so much like it , maybe you have different levers or just skills , i really enjoy and love the way you drive . Anyways no hurry on a Rolls Royce on a bike like a GW . Keep up for more vids , peace👍💪
I thought I covered that in the video but maybe I forgot. Anyway, when my muffs arrived two of the six were broke off. I soaked the remaining four in PB Blaster overnight then was able to work them all out the next day. I tried to tap the broken off ones but the nut that was welded on the inside came loose so I just got a larger bolt and threaded it gently into the hole. Two are enough to hold those end caps on. Good luck!
I have a 19 wing The muffler upgrade is 3000$ I think. Crazy My question is . With my softail if I put in or take out baffles, carb needs to be reported. Back pressure. Changing the way the stock mufflers are in a wing? Does that change the way the motor and computer operates? My bike is different than yours but it is the same motor, right? Just wondering
3G's=crazy=right! And probably just more noise with little if any HP gain. Many carb. engines are sensitive to backpressure changes but fuel inj. engines less so. Basically same 1800 engine but yours has about 5 more HP, I think. I've had absolutely no issues since muffler mod and BTW I leave plugs out now. I wish everyone would stop buying new wings until Honda upped the HP about 40 more---they could easily do it 😁. Thanks for watching!!!

That thing sounds great with all the plugs out. Sound like a GT3 Porsche. Wow

Sounds like a Porsche to me, sounds good. You don't think it will get too loud for a long trip?
That is why I made it quickly and easily adjustable. If the sound starts to bother me I just reinstall the plugs and go. Thanks for commenting!

Is it possible to do that conversion without removing the mufflers .
Absolutely, but easier to get the metal filings out if you can turn the muffs upside down.

I think the 1/2 inche is the best Sound! which sound do you like the most?
Does it makes Drone sound with any of the plugs out?
I rode most of last summer with ALL plugs out. Not bothered by any droning. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!!! 🦾
Nice sound. If you dill out the 2005 would you be drilling where the sealed off ends are?
I would be drilling out the exact same place as the ones I did. Only the inserts in the end caps are different. Thanks for watching and commenting Paul!

No quick shifter, just shifting manually. Thanks for watching!
