Shooting down a drone is one thing, no one is risking full scale war over a drone, un manned spy balloon, or anything not involving a human, so even if we had 2 f14's through 18 up there the chances of them bugging put is still 99% because iran doesn't want the full force of all air combat assets in range for retaliation and a carrier group or 2 coming down on it since just the munitions of one carrier group would be enough to knock most of iran infrastructure into the 18th century. The leaders of Iran just pretend to have a gigantic pair, but realistically they don't because they know every arab nation around them is just waiting to seize a section of that country after the is military sends them into the time warp especially the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Most of Arabia just wants peace and a plave at the worlds economic table and that makes Iran a threat to all of them. Plus alot of Iranians are about done withith strict sharia law and won't make a move on their own, but if the military is taken out of enforcing it will over run the police and current government regime.

Things at no time were proportional. The drone was far under it's weight class, the f22 was far over it's weight class. It's like a pigeon vs a hawk vs a pterodactyl.

Old friend of mine and I used to play a complex air combat board game where each turn was 2.5 secs... and enjoyed pitting F15s, F16s, and Navy F14s against each other (without radar locks and only HS missiles) to see what maneuvers would succeed or fail... we already knew the older F4s would be toasted in less than half a minute here. 😅

He went on to become a Major in the USAF and trained new officers on F15s. I still miss the guy. He died of cancer at the age of 50.

I work in the aerospace recycling industry. I see a lot of parts that were on these jets. We cut them down clean they up and send off to make more parts. I love what I do too. We had two tons of plates from the that tank we use………. I can’t think of the name right now.

I’ve seen the F22 hover basically in mid-air at EAA. This plane is unreal.
For me the crazy one is then they go up into a stall, hit the vectored thrust and flip the damn thing over almost immediately and then slam the throttles all the way up. Or do vectors steering and do a controlled flat spin slowly down like they're a damn helicopter. The plane is almost beyond being a plane.
When I was in the Navy, I watched F-14 Tom's kick ass on most every fighter jets. F-14 Navy Tomcats were, are and still kick ass badasses.

As a military, I always find hilarious these stories on social media promoting American heroes e sensational Jet Fighters. Although the F-22 is a great aircraft, his 'stealth' capabilities were fell short to be proven in real world exercises and this story has so many doubtful facts I'm not even begin to talk about it. hope you got the views you were looking for.
