I am the same way…so many big knocks in my lifetime. I can not cry. I am so exhausted that my first thought on yet another problem that has arisen is, how am I going to fix this. I have no one to ask for help (financial) and I have to get myself unstuck. I have lots of people I trust for advice but after the pandemic nearly annihilated my business I’m forever changed. I no longer trust that doing the right things and working hard are going to keep me safe. I am changed in that I know I am not safe and the rug can be pulled out from under not matter the evidence that I’ve picked myself up numerous times before. Now I am is exhausted by tribulations and acutely aware of how vulnerable I am. No one is going to save me and crying isn’t either. I do wish I could cry but it just does not happen. 55 and exhausted🤦🏻‍♀️🥵plus weary of others because it’s other people and government that has harmed me. Pray or me that the tears will come and bring some relief.

I think the main problem the interviewer has for solving "the enigma" of his pain is that he's focusing on the "pain of 2022", the pain of the grown-up, instead of focusing on the pain of the child.
Obviously, his pain got stuck in his childhood, like an indigestion that happened then. The thing is that the unconscious mind (which is the place where we store the emotions we have repressed), the unconscious mind doesn't understand the concept of time (past-present-future).
If the emotional experience is unresolved, is not in the past- it's still very much alive in our present.
The interviewer is focused on himself, the adult self. Instead, he should be offering the love of his present self (the man who he is today) to his past self (the abandoned/neglected/rejected child that he was and that still lives in him).
This is what Francine Shapiro calls "Dual Attention", which is feeling the pain of the present (the shadow) but connecting it with the pain that comes from the past (the real cause and the object that is casting the shadow).
That's why Jesus said that we need to become like children to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. If he doesn't do that, he will only help the people he is meant to be helping very limitedly.
He should also focus on the fact that this is what his Spirit, his soul chose before coming to this plane for a purpose. It's very obvious that this is his mission. In Mysticism this is called "The Tikum".
So- Inner Child/Higher Self will be the guides that will help him solve this riddle and heal his trauma.
