Astonishing. I've listened to so many of Gabor's interviews but I think I achieved more insights and revelations than ever before from this interview. Thank you.
Yes I agree. I've listened to Gabor for over 10 years, and I have to say your interview style most certainly has created one of his best ever interviews that I have had the pleasure of listening to. Well done 👏 I also am the founder of a wellbeing facebook group with approaching 700 members. I feel inclined to share this video, and I will subscribe to your channel Thank you
@@hodgkissnick79 Thanks for your comment and for sharing the interview! Gabor is an extraordinary individual. Honored he could share his brilliance with us all. I appreciate your support 💜🙏
Absolutely, James. I have worked in the field of addiction for approaching 15 years now, but prior to this, I had my own addiction problems that led me to spending 1 year in a residential rehabilitation unit. Despite this being amazing, life changing treatment on discharge, I had a desire to understand myself and my behaviour at a deeper level. That's when I found the profoundly unique Gabor Mate. To this day I feel indebted to his work and teachings. A truly incredible man. In respect to my own project, my goal is to create a "wellbeing hub" and I have ambitious plans. It's only been up and running for 2 months, but we already have approaching 700 group members. I wonder if this is something we could maybe connect about at some point. Thanks again for the video. Your interview style was excellent. Its good to connect with you. Regards
From Australia, currently reading the 'Myth of Normal' book, and already, in my opinion, it is a must-have book for EVERYONE to read. When I need a rest from reading, I search UA-cam for more of Dr Gabor Mate`. My bookcase is stocked with many, many non-fiction books, and none (some of which are best sellers) come close to such understanding, insight, hope & healing. Thankyou Dr. Gabor Mate` your story, expertise, knowledge, wisdom, passion & compassion, all your works are invaluable. And I am grateful for the positive impact you have made on mine, and the lives of many 💐💯🌟❤️🙏
“When children are traumatized, one of the ways they cope is to self-soothe, and that's where addictions come in. But another way to cope is: when you get the message that you're not good enough , that you are not worthy enough, then you could spend the rest of your life trying to prove that you are. And how do you do that? By being very nice to everyone, by never saying how you feel because they might not like how you feel, by never expressing healthy anger when someone crosses your boundaries. By working too hard to prove your worth. Well, then you spend the rest of your life compensating by taking on too much, and you cause yourself stress, and that stress impacts your physiology. They have an impact on your immune system, they have an impact on your cardiovascular system, on your heart, on your nervous system. They can cause diseases. So most of the diseases that most of my colleagues - the doctors - think are just random or coincidental diseases... are not random or coincidental at all. They are the result of lifelong stress.” - Dr. Gabor Maté. This man deserves a Nobel Prize for his work.
Every normal human knows that we live in a disgusting World. No Wars no refusees, no trauma's. Stress is everywhere power, greed Dife deep to stop all this...🙏
I can't imagine a child doctor telling parents that the child has asthma because of how the family atmosphere is acting on him. It will be considered extremely rude and the parents will report this doctor. No doctor in the West has any ethical right to touch on their patients' life or family. Such is the unwritten code of conduct. Any inquiries about patients' lives will be perceived as invasive and inconsiderate. THAT is the Western medicine's problem: they must deal with the body only, and not just the body, but separate organs in the body. Otherwise they will be seen as rude. Which parents would listen to the doctor asking what the child might be reacting to, with his asthma?

Could you actually say way? Or fall into the category of 'those who have to say something'. Rather than those who have something to say...

I wish he was my head doctor, but since he isn't. Bye Bye cruel world.
