Good clip. And It’s nice to have a guy like Mike doing the installation. Anybody with that amount of tattoos shows he’s a thorough kinda guy who’s committed to whatever takes his fancy.
Hook up the red wire to the backup light of the Jeep. The red wire is for the reverse mode. And should be hooked up. It does help to have reversing mode working.
I had a Van Top in my 2011 Call of Duty that has all but died; when it was hot outside it would quit unexpectedly. It had other malfunctions too. This Wolf Box seems promising, kept the old rear camera for now and I had to order the hard wire kit. Looks good so far.
You must have a lot of faith in that equipment right out of the box I always mock up my installs first put all the equipment together and make sure the thing works before I go drilling holes and routing wiring , only to find out that unit doesn't work😮😮😮
Me and the wife got a 94' chevy conversion van and the rear view mirror really did nothing beyond letting you see your passengers. I'm betting this would help a ton!
I have one ready to install. I have a motorcycle carrier on the back of my sienna for a zuma 125. My reverse camera is useless now. I didn't buy the extension kit though, didn't even realize that was an option at the time of purchase. I'll probably have to order one for a mini van...
I actually don’t. I never hooked that function up because since we overland, I never wanted to risk my battery being dead after a few days on the trail.
The only apprehension I have with this product is the latency the rear camera might have. When reversing did it feel like a live feed or did it have a 1-2 second delay? If it doesn't have any latency I'll buy it right now.
Very nice explanation Brother, Thank you for your great efforts. Can you plz tell me how is the mirror clarity & visibility when power turned OFF. I am planning to buy WOLFBOX G840H Mirror Dash Cam So.
Thanks for the video. Could you please help me gauge the best location for the rear view camera on my sedan? I have a big wing. Looking to replace the low quality rear view camera under my boot handle.
@DownSouthOffRoadandOutdoor I wish but it's challenging to route the wiring through it. It would be exposed along the metal arms. The view would be great from there. I agree. Oh well, I guess it's down by the boot handle then.
@@ceej5714 No it comes with the camera that it uses to show you whats behind you. The point of it is to give you much wider vision of what's behind you than looking at a small reflection in your mirror.
Hi, Question. I bought this camera model for my 96 ranger model. But the parking mode only record maybe 1:30 hrs, with the 24 hrs park mode enabled. I put the hardwire kit to enable the park mode. I connected the yellow cable in a constant energy fuse and red in a fuse that only have energy when the truck switch is on. That ok? Or I need to connect the yellow in the battery directly?
What if it rains at night and you got bright headlights from other cars behind you? Is there glare and or flickering? Does the rear camera or screen have auto dimming?
Hey, how is this going after a year? I had a pelsee p12 pro in Mando, but the rear camera ended up failing after a year. And it was not mounted exterior. Whites got overexposed.
Go with the Wolfbox !! I can’t see cht in this Pelsee with bright sun! With or without the Jeeps top on. Now that I’m rolling with the soft top and more sunlight coming in, the visual is terrible! Was just complaining about it today. Get the Wolfbox G840S, we have a review posted for it as well
@@DownSouth_Adventures yeah I have the pelsee in Mando, I’m gonna go wolfbox for the truck. I should have bought it on prime day, but I’ll pick it up later. They had it for $101 lol
Great video. Have you have any issues with the angles of the rear camera by mounting it so high up? I have a tire cover on my JL and I was thinking of mounting camera on top of my brake light but I am worried I won't be able to view things properly.
This is a great device but I noticed an annoying flaw. You can't view the wide angle view of the rear cam by itself. It's the cropped version. The only way to view the wide angle is when you set it to view both front and back cams. It's been a couple days since I set this up. Either I missed some setting or this is an oversight by them. Might have to return this for this reason alone. Otherwise great piece of tech.
I noticed the same exact issue but if you slide it up and down there's a sweet spot to get that wide angle near the bottom of the screen opening up those blind spots to your view. I parked in a parking lot, using a building or anything in the rear view slide the screen up and down until the widest view of the road was lined up with the wider bottom portion of the screen. 👍🏽👍🏽
I just purchased this wolfbox but i do not have a cigarette outlet to power...my question is can i just connect a C connector cord from the mirror to my 2024 trucks C outlet??
Hi, we just installed after I watched your review, we are getting used to this mirror cam and it works really well. Only question is, is this supposed be darker than normal mirror? The resolution is goo but it’s bit dark in sunny days. I have adjusted brightness but feel like I am looking at tinted mirror. Do you think it’s ok?
Hmmmmm I know mine seems to have a dark tint on it, but I’ve never had an issue viewing the screen. I’m not sure if maybe you just need to angle yours differently.
Yes, these mirrors are not only darker than regular mirrors and it doesn't allow you to use as a mirror only unless you turn the whole thing off. I returned mine because of these reasons plus i was expecting to have as a mirror only and time and GPS on the mirror only. Back up camera and front only when enabled, but the settings are so basic doesn't allow these.
Just picked up a new-to-me cargo van and have a bulkhead so my mirror is useless. How's the night image in terms of being able to use the rear camera as your mirror? Do headlights get super diffused or can you pretty accurately gauge if you can change lanes, etc.?
I would t recommend this, the main reason is because you cannot adjust the angle of the front camera, meaning it has to be dead center for you to get a good recording of the front. That in turn means that you cannot use the rear view mirror because it will be off center and you will be looking at your passenger seat every time you want to look behind you, forcing you to use the rear view camera. The rear view camera is only 30fps, which makes the image choppy and if someone is blinding you with their headlight well good luck. I’d recommend a dash cam that does not go on your rear view mirror. I will more than likely end up returning this which is a shame cause the install was a bit of a pain.
The mirror isn’t a mirror it is a display so NO MATTER which way you face it you see the beautiful 4K screen showing you what’s outside . The front camera is also super wide angle so matter the position you see the same footage. There is nothing remotely choppy in the video. Bright lights are never an issue with this unlike your rear view mirror.
If you mean to look in the back seat then you’d have to use the mirror in your visor. But if you’re talking about looking in the mirror to see what’s behind you then no because the camera gives you a way better view of what’s behind you.
