I've learned to stay away from plant tours on UA-cam because there's always something I don't have, that I think is beautiful but can't afford or I don't have knowledge to care for it. It saved me some heartache and frustration.
YES that's a great point! I love seeing people's collections but it's tough when they have things that I want but can't afford or take care of! Thanks for sharing!
I wish I knew how happy having a home full of plants would make me. It’s brought so much joy for me. I should have gotten into this sooner! 💚 Also thrips are just the worst! 💀
Yess plants help me go theu grieving process when my baby was born sleeping my mom and friend got me plants to keep me busy and now i jave a mini jungle
I love to get notified that's it's you posting. 🌷 As a fairly new plant dad I was getting a bit discouraged this winter with my plants. I can't quit tho as my wife is looking down sometimes encouraging sometimes wagging her finger scolding a bit. I wish I had just a little finger of her plant wisdom when she was alive. Thank for posting this. It was well received & came at a perfect time. 🥰
Aww thanks 🥰 I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Winter can be a tough time for plants (and us plant parents) so keep your head up and do your best and that is enough!
No dont quit most of our plant go dormant suring winter when spring is getting closer they start sparking up i also learn alot with a app that u take a pic of the leaf amd it tell u qhat could be the cause if the leaf is yelloqing or crispy tip ect and what u can do to stop it and also the app is free let me know if u want to down load it 😊😊💚💚
I wish I knew about bottom watering. I also wish I would have found the app picture this 18 months sooner than I did. And I wish I knew that plant groups on social media are way kinder than ANY OTHER GROUP OUT THERE! I’m grateful that I’ve had your videos for my entire plant journey.
OMG yes bottom watering can be super useful to prevent overwatering and some pests! And I agree about the plant community. It is honestly the most loving, generous, kind group (for the most part... there's always some bad seeds.... pardon my pun 😂). And thank you 💚💚
Great vid Emma!! I wish I'd known about pest checking (lost quite a few in one go back in the day when I didn't know they had thrips and then suddenly they were everywhere)! Also wish I'd known just how great they could be for mental health - could have done with a little jungle when I was in my teens FOR SURE 💚
I wish I’d known to not repot right after buying. Just got my first plants yesterday and feel like I’ve set my Parlour Fern up for failure. I thought I knew some basics from early research but I still have a long way to go. I’m still excited to learn and grow with my plants! Just sooo much to take in.
@@GoodGrowing since this post, I’ve grown to about 22 plants. I’ve given my sister my original parlour palm and have been working with a smaller one. I’ve repotted every plant upon purchase (using a soil mix I make) and they have all done very well. I still just feel better knowing where my plant is starting from. Based on my own experience, I can’t say that the “don’t repot for X amount of time” is a hard and fast rule I can follow lol.
Biggest thing is researching plants you like and finding what works for you and your space. Gamechanger. You get plants you love and you know you can care for!! Another big one is looking thoroughly through a plant before purchasing for pests.....that is a big one!! Research common plant pests so you know what you are looking for because its really difficult to see them if you dont know what you are looking for.
I wish I knew how many I would end up wanting! I have a huge wishlist and right now I don't have the space for all the plants I want. I have been buying dwarf plants or baby plants as I know they will grow slowly enough to still fit my space for the time being. I also love shopping around to get the best prices if I'm buying online, I wish I knew to do that first as I may have saved a few pounds!. Also the pests! Like I only had 2 plants in the beginning so it wasn't a massive deal, now I have like 20 and I've been learning EVERYTHING about them.
What I wish I knew was... that some easy plants aren't easy at all. I also wish I knew that no matter the soil you use... a lot of them have not only gnats but also fly eggs. I have paid so much in fly traps because of that. And I am talking about good and expensive soil mixtures.
OMG yes!!! Easy for some is not easy for all and vice versa too! And I agree about the soil, especially from big box stores! That's one reason I switched to soil ninja as none of the soils I've gotten from them have had any of those issues.
I wish I knew how important insecticide was :( my first big plant was an elephant ear and it died of thrips. Once a week since then I've been spraying my plants with a mix of castile soap and water. Life changer
I wish I knew what mealy bugs were… I got gifted a MASSIVE bird of paradise that would’ve been worth around £400-£500 and I thought the mealy bugs were just dust (it was kept in an office of a sheet metal business so dust was always accumulating) so I cleaned it with just water and did a pretty lazy job of it… it died a while later 😭😭😭
I need some help with my Alocasia M Frydek, i got it 2/3 months ago and she grew 2 new leaves in this time. Now she is putting out a flower , a leaf (or another flower) and a pup too. What do you do with the flowers, do you cut them to preserve the plants energy or let them bloom?
I personally cut them as, like you said, they take up the plant's energy. But of course it's up to you. If you like how they look, keep em until they die off 🤷🏻♀

Yes I agree. Although I’d rather spend that much money on other things to be honest!!
Agreed i spend 300 on ecuagenera it was with my bday money but i just could help it i was everyday searching on the page

Thanks Would like to check out the plant app.
I’m pretty new to plants but I wish I knew how addictive it would be!

It's not the end of world that you've repot! It might just be in a bit of stress. But now you know for next time! :) good luck on your plant journey!

🗣 looking at you spider plants!
Omg it’s not just me 🤦🏾♀️🤣🤣
They're my plant nemesis!
I learned lots from you over this last year so thank you x
Aww thank you! So glad I could help with your plant journey!
"Lookin at you spider plants"🪴 😆 same!
Yessss gotta love pothos! So easy going and low maintenance 👍

It's the bugs for me
So gross huh!! 😭

TRUTH! I lost my first monstera deliciosa to thrips 🙃
I’d like to see how you have the enclosed cabinet behind you.
I have a couple different videos on my cabinet and everything I've done to make it a good environment for my plants. Have a look at those :)

The most addictive! I'm pretty sure they've given me a shopping addiction....
Im a obsses plant mom too and my therapist say is the best keep ur mind busy ect
It is soooo good for mental health. I've found caring for my plants so good on my mental health journey!
I wish I'd understood light levels more when l started collecting.
Good Growing: " Remember that it is ok to kill plants..."
Me: "Hello, Plant Police? Yeah, Id like to report a possible crime."
I would love to live in Jumanji too, but the hair would definitely be my bain (frizztastic) 😂
Oh god I could imagine. I'm lucky enough to have pin straight hair so it wouldn't affect me much 😂
