Hey Emma, I have all my Ficus plants in smi hyro and yes you are correct, they LOVE IT! And even in that set up they INHALE the water. I have found they are my thurstiest plants even in semi hydro hehe. Don't be scared to do it, they will love it 😻 Will look into the Barinna liights...thank you for your content and all your efforts. Love love love your vids 🤩👏🏼🫶
@@GoodGrowing I honestly believe you can't go wrong with it. In fact all my plants (bar one) are in semi hydro and it's the best decision I made a year ago. AND it's easier and less stressful for me as an underwaterer. Go for it Emma!
RE: Ficus E + semi-hydro - highly recommend. I have previously only grown them in Soil Ninja Ficus mix and randomly decided to try my Tineke in leca with a no-drainage set up after water propagating and it’s been THRIVING. The white on the leaves never brown now and I think it really enjoys the even moisture compared to when it was growing in soil. It’s growing really fast and strong. Hope that’s helpful! Thanks for the vid 🙏🏻 needed this for my moss pole chop morning 🖤
Agreed I just propagated a tineke into semi hydro. 3 pieces, 2 air layered, they are growing new leaves after 3 weeks and as the weather has suddenly gotten cold! Previously, my problem with the tineke was over watering. Drainage and consistent moisture. It's a full sun tree, so for me, light is most important.
I transferred ficus Umbellata, Audrey, Shivereana, Tineke, Ruby, Burgundy all to leca last year and they've never been happier. No leaf loss and growing like crazy! Other than hoyas, they were the easiest transitions. Go for it! 😁
Oooh, that zoom! I could use that, since my eyes are shit and I can never spot anything on my plants, even when they show signs of pests. Grow lights are such a blessing in our climate (Belgium's basically as gloomy and rainy as the UK), because my plants on the windowsill of a SOUTH-FACING window are getting 75 Fc right now. Gloom and doom all round!
I love my Barrina lights. Mine don’t have that box, so I can use my app and timer set the way you have the rest of your lights. Hopefully they can get you what you need. Also, the bulb side has a clear sticker over them. Be sure to peel that off. Thx for all your amazing content!! I appreciate you!! And Cleo 💕🤩🌱🌈
I see you are using the nurture system feed now? I change from liquid gold leaf and have not had good results. Used it at the right ratio and have lost 8 alocasia to stem rot. Back to liquid gold leaf for sure.
Oh no!! That sucks! I’ve not personally had bad results with this one. Tbh I think it’s fairly similar growth wise, at least in my collection 🤷🏻♀️ but use what works best for you!
I had issues with little red bugs too...at first I saw no damage but within couple days there was a ton of damage. I was already struggling with thrips so I treated with insecticide soap. Didn't work and they were spreading fast so I tried a miticide and that didn't work either. I looked up the little red things and found them to be red European spider mites 😢 I live in Ohio wth... I finally got rid of them using diatomaceous earth
So funny I JUST bought that exact 4 piece of Barrina grow lights last week! My only complaint is that they didn't include a separate plug in for each light, but that was my own fault for not reading the item description close enough.
Hi! Totally a red spidermite. 👍

ooh you're giving me even more hope!! From the sounds of it, everyone's ficus love semi-hydro! Very tempted to give it a go now!

oooh giving me hope! thanks!
Emma, can you please try First and give Updates? If it workes i will try too 😅
I love the idea of that little micro-scope.. You can take it with you, when you buy or swap plants too. Great idea!!! I need one too.
omg I didn't even think of that! Such a good idea!!

I highly recommend these lenses! It really helps to get in a see what's going on!
and ugh I know it's just so dark these days!!
I transferred my ficus to pon and it loves it!!❤
In self watering?
I love barrinas. I have them in my mils, 2 rudstas and a shelf system. My plants love them!!

ooh very good to know! I didn't realise there was a sticker there!
Great video.
thanks 🥰
After watching your video I feel the need to get a move on with some of my plants that need a repot. 😊
hehe glad to help 🙃
Ive got my tineke and burgandy in LECA and they seem very happy 😊
Very tempted by the phone magnifier, that is very interesting for sure! Maybe I could use it whilst skewering spider mites with a cocktail stick 😂
Omg do it!! It’s a really helpful tool!
🐈 hello from MY Cleo to YOUR Cleo! 🐈
awww hi Cleo!
Your T-shirt is amazing!
thanks! it's from Tropics Narcotics 🖤 you can use code 'GOODGROWING' for 10% off 😉
I have transitioned 3 ficus into leca and it is the best decision ever.
ooh good to know! thanks!
looks like a flat mite
It’s too big to be a flat mite, I could easily see it with my eyes
I have barrina lights they are serving me well x
glad to hear you & your plants are liking them!

ahhh sounds like a nightmare!! Glad you were able to get rid of them though!

yeah I think they're more meant to be daisy chained because they're so diddy
At 6:19 it looks like there's a juvenile thrip in the corner of the microscope video
good thing I washed them all off! thanks for the shout!
Interesting that your Barrina lights came with a timer. Mine don't have that!
I bought WiFi outlets that you plug into your normal outlet so I can set timers with my phone. Game changer
@@amberkendle656 I have a smart surge protector and Alexa capable wifi outlets for all my barrina lights. Love it.
yeah I think I just bought the wrong one 🙃 because I found another that's not got the timer... so will return & swap em!
They should have a cord without that box. My cord for all of my barrina lights only has an on off switch. I have never seen one with a timer box
I think I must have just bought the one with the timer by accident 🤷♀️
It looks like a spider mite to me.
