- A couple of weeks ago, on April 20, 2021, singer Les McKeown of the Bay City Rollers died. McKeown was born on 12 November 1955, Edinburgh, Scotland). To commemorate him, we publish this video of one of the Rollers biggest hits.
The Bay City Rollers are a Scottish pop rock band known for their worldwide teen idol popularity in the 1970s. They have been called the "tartan teen sensations from Edinburgh" and "the first of many acts heralded as the 'biggest group since the Beatles'".
The group's line-up had many changes over the years, but the classic line-up during its heyday included guitarists Eric Faulkner and Stuart Wood, singer Les McKeown, bassist Alan Longmuir, and drummer Derek Longmuir. The current lineup (since 2018) includes original guitarist Stuart "Woody" Wood, singer Ian Thomson, bassist Marcus Cordock, and drummer Jamie McGrory.
The Bay City Rollers have sold 120 million records worldwide.

I first heard the music of The Bay City Rollers in 1975 in December age 19 ! I got the record album that had the song Saturday Night ! I got that record album for Christmas of 1975 !

Remember my friend's older sister was in high-school and turned us onto the BCR. Loved the music at 8 years old. They were just cool then. Her bedroom was adorned with their posters and teen beat magazines. Great times listening to them and hanging out by the pool 👍💯👍😎 music was great then and still holds up now.
Rest In Peace Les McKeown. You broke a lot of hearts in the 70s and upon your passing. A true pop idol.

Yes, he did break a lot of hearts-mine included. He was real-human. He experienced a great deal of trauma in his life, and hardship. Despite all appearances to the contrary, he had little self-esteem. Much of his trauma and demons plagued him throughout his life pre-, post-Rollers. Understanding him as a real person, and as an adult myself, I think I love him even more. I certainly respect him.

Bay City Rollers are teen rock. One personality of a rock station said "Money Honey" was legitimate rock song.
That was a good one. They actually had some decent rock sings towards their later years. Not a total fluff band.

My Aunt was Mike Douglass liaison between Group W and Westinghouse Broadcasting and I met The Bay City Rollers in there first U.S. appearance WHICH was giving to The Mike Douglas Show not American Bandstand, Johnny Carson, Merv Griffin or ant others Just Mike Douglas.

Les was the band. The others could hardly play but looked the part. Mostly sessions musicians used on their albums.
