This Air Lift Performance Air Suspension Kit is for 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 or 2004 Mustangs. Air ride suspension kits are becoming more and more popular in the Mustang community. We've all seen the cars laid out on the ground, that is a very small portion of what these suspensions can do. They have almost infinite ride height adjustability, and are perfect for daily drivers. Today, we're going to install it on this 2001 Mustang GT.

if anyone is worried about the bag popping just think, the materiel used to make those are the same that makes the bags for dump trucks
if that's what they are used on those are probably heavy duty
It's not the bags you need to worry about. It's the cheap nylon lines and crappy push connectors. 24 years as a CDL driver, I've never seen a bag fail. But I see lines and connectors fail all the time. If I were to put this on my car I would absolutely run hard line for most of the distance and only use short pieces of the nylon at the ends to isolate vibration.
That's pretty cool actually, it was amazing to see the car lift up as high as it did then get that low.
Why'd you use vice grips to hold a strut bolt heads instead of a wrench?
you dont have to hold the vice grips and if you arent gonna reuse them who cares

Really considering this for my '03 GT. Two questions:
1- Does the system constantly monitor psi? For example, if a line or bag develops a slow leak, will the system recognize it and mitigate total air loss to that bag?
2- Is there a fail-safe, and/or alarming feature? Similar to question #1, let's say one is driving at highway speeds and a slow leak, or even a fast leak occurs- rather than a bag completely deflating and that corner of the suspension completely lowering, and presumably causing a catastrophic event, would one get a heads up?
Obviously #2 might be a rare or unheard of experience, but it is a legitimate question. Thanks!

To get a faster answer look for youtube videos of regular people installing this and asked them because in this video there's even 3 years old questions without answer
This is the most basic system possible, it doesn't monitor anything. It doesn't even maintain a given ride height, just pressure. I'd advise looking for a better kit, one that includes a leveling valve to maintain the chosen ride height.
What's the tire setup? And did the fenders need to be rolled?

Why not replace worn rubber components when apart? That is silly the parts are cheap you are there and have many apart

Depends on the shop but figure roughly 8-10 hours labor

why cant you use mount plate that comes with caster camber setup? just remove bearing and shims and youll have nice billet mount plate instead of shitty steel stock one, thats how im doing it looks alot better and rear most people have aftermarket lower and upper control arms so what happens in that situation

if the suspensions are pretty much the same, shouldn't this work on a fox? I have a 96 cobra driveline under my 89 car and it's on coilovers so this should work roght?
+Tevin Taylor Depending on the level of modification to your fox body the kit very well may fit. It will not fit a stock fox body without modifications. 87-93 shocks and struts vs 94-04 are different lengths and the thickness of the strut mount at the stock spindle is different as well.
+Bill Tumas I have 96 cobra spindles, a arms, and rear 8.8 brakes and all. I do have fox maximum motorsports lower control arms. plan on Panhard bar and torque arm over the winter. this should work I believe but I just want to be date
Bill I can't find an answer anywhere. I love this kit and am wondering if it is at all possible to modify the brackets for the rear cobra irs on 03 04 termis. It must be possible, I just want to be sure before I purchase the kit thank you

Hey Bill Tumas, I'm looking for the best overall suspension and I need professional and expert advice like yourself. I want the best overall suspension for cornering, I want to make my 2014 5.0 turn like it's a complete track car. What suspension should I get to accomplish this? I personally trust your advice over anyone else.
When it comes to suspension there is simply no best one out there, different setups will be preferred by different people. If you are really into absolute handling performance check out the Ridetech coilovers and the BMR watts link. That would be a killer package together.
Hello again Bill, I also have a question about exhaust. I have Flowmaster Outlaw series catback with the xpipe. I want to go h-pipe and long tube headers. I want a very DEEP exhaust note and do you have any recommendations from your experiences on which to get for a deep tone?

For the lower control arm what do you do if you have aftermarket lower control arm that doesn’t have a hole for the bolt and lower bag plate?
Terminator_D-MANN i was faced with this problem... i had to source a factory control arm, until in can find a aftermarket control arm that i can fab something for it to work.
Aaron Kendall I hate to have to put a stocker on since my rear suspension is built with a built solid axle. Let me know if you find a lower control arm that works with this. I don’t want to modify my team z lower control arm unless I know it will 100 percent work with this system. How do you like your suspension now with this air lift kit?

I've modified my rear bbk lower control arms to adapt to the bags. I'm still in the process of getting the cage and the drivetrain in. I'll let you know how it goes and shoot over pics if it works right

depends how you set it up. In the case of the 99-04 those cars sit so high from the factory that this kit doesn't raise them at all
was this a 1/4" or 3/8" system?

I likey this kit! But it looks like it will be a bitch to install on my convertible. Small trunk, I would have to gut the back interior to run wires/lines, etc. I should know- I've had my 'vert literally in pieces before.
I don't know why but the sleeved bags as opposed to the bellow bags just looks cheap. Oh well at least they don't make the popping sound when airing up.

+Jose Villegas Easy height adjustability and ride quality are the two big ones. I like the added security of parking the car aired out making it impossible to tow.
cool does it take away all the rattles of the car ? if you change the struts and shocks ?? i hate that those rattles please recommend me something so i wont hear the rattles anymore
+Jose Villegas Rattles typically will not be fixed by suspension changes unless your existing suspension is very stiff
and do you know how i can fix all the rattles ? of the car its a 2002 mustang gt its not that bad but its kind of annoying
+Jose Villegas everything inbetween frame and the wheels is probably all dried out. Look at this mustang it's clean as hell but that old suspension shows. Control arms and sway bars?

A 10 in wide wheel with a 295 and the right offset is about as big as you can go. This car I believe had 275s on the back.

Hi, I see that the car is all rusted like the bearing, the axle, at the wheel, is that fine? Like is it ok for those stuff to be like that and still be usable?
Are fenders rolled?
JLB vlogs doesn't look like they are rolled. I've got the same kit on my 2001 gt and when it's sitting on the ground my tires don't touch the fenders. My tire combination is 245's in the front and 285's in the rear

+ScourgeBound The most obvious difference is going to be the front strut to body mounts. 94-04s also had longer shocks and struts compared to a fox body by about an inch. A longer strut would not allow you to lower the car as much.
