Today we have Jeremy from Air Lift Performance to help us install their complete digital air suspension kit on a 2013 GT500. This kit will fit all 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 or 2014 Mustangs. Air Lift's kit allows you to drop the ride height over 4 inches from the original stock height for a killer parked stance. With the simple push of a button, you can raise it back up and into your desired ride height for cruising, a road course, or even the drag strip. The system has 8 programmable presets so you can have the perfect height for any application.
Installation is pretty straightforward, but time-consuming depending on how well you want to hide the hoses and wires for the system. On average it can be done in about 8 hours, but give yourself a good weekend to complete the installation.
Installed this system is awesome. The car drops in seconds and raises just as fast. The controller is simple and easy to use and will help you set the exact height you want. A great feature is when your car is lowered for a show, when you turn the key it will automatically rise to drive height. I would never get rid of my spare tire "my backup girl" so many times you just cant be without it! I really like the roof mount on this definitely gonna get this in the future.
GT500 dont come with spare tires...
You have individual control over all 4 wheels so you can pick pretty much any height you want. You can slam the front and raise the back and vice versa.
***** You just have to get it aligned at your driving height. Once you do that it will drive like stock and have no issues at all. I have personally been in this car at triple digit speeds with the Air Lift and its rock solid.
Could you measure where your drive height is with stock suspension and set the air bags to the measurement?

There are no issues with the system for winter use. I would check the tank occasionally for water but I doubt it will be an issue.
Can you drive it slammed if you did widebody conversion with flared fenders?

This is not true, moisture can get in the valve manifold and freeze, and crack the manifold which cost $700 to replace! and vehicle will be aired out until replaced or modified. Happened to me !!!
My Lincoln Mark VII had a dryer assembly that was part of the compressor...you need a dryer if you plan to drive in the winter!

Is it fain to install this for a daily driver like for school and stuff I want my mustang low at times but not all times where I have to worry about the speed bumps
+Grisel Alcantar The benefit of air is that its only low when you want it to be and rid quality is excellent.
Just a reminder, you might want to roll your front fenders when installing this kit if you have aftermarket wheels. I just installed it and had to learn the hard way!
Zach Waddell Good point! The need for fender rolling depends mostly on your wheel offset. We have run 20x10 wheels up front and never rolled the lips. Doing a slow drop the first time is always a good idea until you determine the wheel compatibility.
The rear install was a pain in the ass!!!!

Okay I'm still new to this but having your vehicle stanced would it effect the suspension kit and would driving it slammed (or close to it) to the ground be possible if you even have your fenders rolled

Yes there are knobs on the shocks and struts to adjust
Does the 11-14 Mustang GT require an after market pan hard bar to be adjusted to the daily driver ride height with this system?
Depending on ride height it is not a bad idea, especially if your daily driver ride height is a lot lower than stock.
Where do you guys connect the red source wire I have a g37 its conected to the starter in the fuse box can that be a issue
What about alignment? Does the car has to be aligned after or constantly? Is safe to drive in highway at height speed?
sbusumacinta after messing with anything with the wheels you need an alignment. My buddy has the same system just with a different controller and he’s take his 140+ mph no problems
What about winter use like a winnipeg winter (-25 to -35) will some stuff fail?

They can't go past the stock ride height

What fuse you can use in the 05-09? The adapter included on the 3H limits your options since it requires no fuses nearby in order to fit. It is really imperative to use a line that remains active while cranking? That limits the options available even more. Thanks
how about some performance specs - before and after - with this suspension setup - also the perspective on how it feels, long terms and other practical or impractical aspects of this setup.

Depends on where you set your ride height. If its more than an inch lower than stock you would want an adjustable panhard.
Got a ? Before I buy the kit. How easy it it for an airbag failure.
What about different height settings for front and rear? e.g.-Do all 4 locations rise and fall an equal amount?

Two quick questions: 1. Is there a way to do some rust prevention on the holes you drilled into the spare tire well and rear spring tower? 2. If I need to leave the car stationary for awhile, like a few month, what level of air should I leave in the bags? I live in Florida by the way. Thanks.
A little paint or primer on those holes will do the trick. If you let it sit for a month I would air it down. It should hold but you may lose a little pressure over that much time.

Ride height isn't terribly low on this car so the adjustment wasn't necessary. On a fixed drop like coilovers you will want an adjustable panhard.

Did you guys remove the plastic in the front wheel wells? I don't see any when you were mounting the front struts and I didn't see you removing them in the video.

Looks like the left tank bolt didn't line up well with the hole.

Where can you get the grommet for the rear air line?
I was always curious how the alignment part is handled on air ride... Do you perform the alignment on the driving setting? Does it hold that setting perfectly? or will it have alignment issues from constantly changing the ride height?
Yes you align the car for your saved ride height and it holds it. The other settings you typically will not drive on, at least not for very long. This car has a high setting for getting on a trailer or going over a speed bump, a track setting for the drag strip, a drive setting, and all the way down.

Is it possible to adjust ride height while on the move, say I am cruising down a normal street, want to turn into a shopping center but there is a fairly steep entrance, would I need to completely stop, then change the ride height, or change it on the fly? Thanks for the help!
You absolutely can. You have to press the button twice so you don't hit it my mistake.
So how do you adjust the camber settings when aligning the car if the camber settings are underneath the top plates on the strut towers?
VADER take em out, adjust, put em back in. lol. don't forget to put 165lbs in the driver's seat.

i have a 05 dodge magnum where should i put the tank ? dont want take up any trunk space and i dont think it will fit in the spare wheel space
Under the seats if you have room. I've seen some people put the tank under the car; in front of the spare tire well and/or in the bumper

On the manifold the right plug no hose was plugged on it was it that for ?
Noeldiaz8 that's an exhaust line you can run as an option outside of the vehicle. His manifold placement allows enough breathing room for the system so no hose is required.

I think a better spot for the compressor would have been just behind the rear seats inside the trunk! I like to keep my spare in the trunk trust me.........I've learned my lesson.

JNelson Performance you can mount the pump under the vehicle if you want or in this case you could mount it directly beneath the tank it self. That's how mine is mounted.
What about steering alignments? Do you have to go get a alignment after getting it installed? I'm a little confused about that part.... Does anyone know?
You would have to get a wheel alignment and have it all set up (e.g camber) for your main driving hight.

snapfish89 The way to set this up is to align it and the rear axle (if adjustable) at the ride height you drive at most. As you lower or raise the car, the front camber and toe changes slightly, but not enough to go out of spec within heights that are reasonable to drive at. We do not alter the geometry of the suspension links at all. So any change is a result of the design from Ford. And, having driven our S197 on the track a ton, they did it right! Hope that helps.

It has never been an issue and I have done that on several installs. Out in the open is preferred but I would rather hide it.

The video is great but you didn't mention anything about an alignment, you didn't mention anything on how to snap the airlines in the back air bags, he just showed the cable coming through the body and make sure that the grommet is on ,but you but you didn't show how it connects or disconnects, if they're going to do a video on a new product you really should give full detail,
Question:
Will this Air suspension system be safe to 'drift' on? Can it handle some rough throwing in the back end?
If I were building as competitive drift car I would probably not use it but for the occasional drift it will be fine. This car is regularly drag raced and runs mid 10s without issue.

When I'm cruising, I want to have the car just little lower than stock, but I want to be able to lift it HIGHER than stock when going in and out of parking lots, over speed bumps, etc. Does anyone make this sort of thing? All those kits are still lower than factory on their highest setting and their lowest setting is undrivable low, I don't know who finds that useful.

You obviously dont see the benefits of airlift, so just get springs. You dont drive with it fully aired out -.- thats for when youre parked and want to make it look real low when not driving, like at car shows. You raise it a bit for driving and can definitely go few inches above stock height

Sang Nguyen after full install and daily ride height is determined get it aligned for that height. Normal daily height is anywhere from factory height to minus two inches at most.
