I believe you have definitely inspired your fans, Mr. Pickering. Your intention is so pure and your hope of welcoming artists into the world of painting is so genuine and successful. I have not purchased any of your videos yet, but I do hope I will soon. Many times I have found myself staying away from my love of painting because of fear and laziness, and I remember the beautiful and magical seascapes and your inspirational words, and I watch your videos and am instantly giggling inside from excitement and am willing to attempt another painting. May Almighty God bless you.
I love everything about this painting from the sunlight peaking through the haze and the smokey alizarin crimson at the base of the rocks to the magnificent green surf. I actually feel like I am standing there watching the waves crash. I am so looking forward to purchasing the dvd and studying your technique further. I do believer yours is the best instructional dvd for waves that I have come across. Thank you for sharing this!
You teach the way I do...explaining things, sharing your knowledge. I've always told my students that far too many start out wanting to paint a "concerto" when what they should be doing is concentrating on "chopsticks". A little at a time, it gives the artists like you the respect they deserve for the diligence you've paid out in time you've spent on your artwork. Love the video! I especially loved how you showed with an insert the brushes you used. Fantastic presentation. (Know I don't give out compliments all that quickly, and I gave you a few.)
This Video had my eyes well up.........Loved it, and so deeply would love to be able to paint as beautiful as you do. Oh what a Glorious Blessing the Lord has given to you. I am such a beginner, I can hardly imagine how to proceed. What paints, canvases, etc to use. It's in my mind, but to put it down on Canvas.........doesn't look the same. Your painting is totally breath taking. Love and Blessings, Lisa
Once again Byron, you have created such an amazing seascape, I think so often of the incredible opportunity of taking your class two years ago. I am now solidly land-locked in San Antonio but would dearly love to return to Oregon again one day. blessings to you and Nolie. Thank you again for teaching us all.
I do not know why, but watching art this beautiful fall together, it makes me feel emotional. I wish he wouldn't complain about what he is painting, the day that I can paint to this degree, I will never put a paint brush down.
Ah, one of my fav seascape dawgs! Byron, it's ye old airbrusher from wetcanvas days ala 2006 ish. Your values and colors on those rocks... just awesome. How you restrict the values and colors to a very narrow range to achieve that far away look is really nice. But the foam, I guess, is really the most magical effect. It just gives the surface of the water some kind of tangibility.
absolutely beautiful! not only are you a master painter but you are the master teacher too! i liked the tips and particularly the part where you jump forward to show where you are heading with the painting then back to show us how to get there...very helpful cheers
you are amazing!!! you transformed my art many years ago with your DVD how to paint the wild sea. I worked in an art shop and for a number of years informed people of your dvd so I hope you had plenty of business from it.
I love your seascape paintings. They look so realistic. I used to paint many years ago and for some reason I got out of it. Now, I'm getting back into it again only this time with acrylics. I love the ocean and I want to be able to paint realistic seascapes but its that realism that is holding me back. I guess I'm afraid of failing and I know that seascapes are not easy for a beginner. I will try one soon just to see how bad I mess it up.
You are an astounding artist! I am a pastel artist but wish to try other mediums. I am mesmerized by water and have enormous respect for your ability to capture the life and movement of the water. Thank you for posting this!
You are welcome Christine....but it's just the start for the 89 minute video. Special this week: Purchase the "Bundle It" package at www.pickeringstudio.com and get the "Painting the Breaking Wave" CD free!
Very good presentation, I am endeavouring to paint wave motions, the theme in aiming for is the sky, sea surf and the waves breaking ,there is a definite pattern as the waves roll in, parallel to each other, then the pattern is changed with rocks. This is how I see it.
BEAUTIFUL I WISH IT WAS LONGER 8 min. it's not enough. and the colors you are using to get the transparency waves which have several tones of blues and greens. you mention emerald. but the other colors?? thank you, you are great tutor.
You paint magnificantly. I hope to one day be able to add the harmony into my paintings such as you have. I will be buying your DVDs. Please make more that I can add to my art library. Thank you and God bless.
Whenever I commit to painting faux pas, I have learned it is better to just step away for a while. Painting while angry or upset will every single time get you into real trouble.
Breathtaking! I've always wondered how such transparency was created in painting ocean waves. Thank you!
many thanks this painting has come to life, i feel like i am there i am lost for words
Can't thank you enough for this magnificent piece of art and show us a glimpse of the artist's view of it...
Beautiful! My favorite subject. I love deep clean blue waters that keep moving with energy. Now I'm ready to paint again.
Thank you for the wonderful instruction. Like your friendly face too; it is very wise. God has blessed you greatly.
That Emerald colour is incredible, wonderfully done! Kudos to you.
Yes! You were successful! Stunning. I want to surf looking at this beautiful piece of art! Thank you

Only a most sensitive of souls could paint something this purely beautiful. I'm going to give it a try now.

Em qualquer tema tudo sai bem quando executado por um verdadeiro artista.
