I'm always trying to figure out how to put enough shapes into that giant mountain, I have a tendency to get lost along the way, it seems you have the ability to simplify this, but to give plenty of shape with the light and dark values. I appreciate being able to watch a master, thanks for sharing.

Yes, they say the more complex the mind, the more play and creativity are important on any level, they go together. That’s what we humans are after all isn’t it. To be happy and healthy we must be free to express ourselves and learn about who we are within our environment. Art is very personal, an reflection of our midden mind, emotional expression of self within. It takes so many different motor-skills between eye and hand it’s something akin to music. When it works, it resonates and uplifts and even heals. No other animal that we know of, can express themselves openly in this beautifully delicate intricate way. That’s what makes the Masters paintings so irreplaceable. They speak for what we are. Art has always been with human development since the cave paintings which are perfect in their own way.

I really like the fact that the painting has that empty space in front - very daring hehe
Thank you for the awesome video - I learn more than one thing :) For instance that chair is genius and that yellow is reserved for the foreground, where as I have heard the saying 'the warm tones for the foreground', which makes some paintings very dull and cold in the background because of no 'warm' at all.
    Hugs from Denmark

I do plein air paintings for my references only and not as finished products of any kind. Do you think 5-6 dagger brushes are enough to capture any kind of scene? Maybe just one extra detail brush and one rough splayed filbert for the trees and foliage along with daggers?

Hi Andrew, loved loved this one. I wonder if you could make a short video , using this one because you do the great split screen with color mixing, to go further in explaining how you use the medium. Im still trying to figure out how much Liquin Original to use in each layer. Also, in this video, did you use Liquin exclusively or did you mix in anything else in the top layers. Is it ok to build up a painting with all Liquin? As a self taught painter, this remains a mystery and I would so appreciate your help. You are my biggest influence and you inspire me to keep learning all the time. Thank you!!

I still have a hard time painting en plein air. I just figured out switching from canvas to (properly) primed wood panels. You make plein air look easy, although for those of us who have tried, we know it isn't. When I look at my own timelapse videos I see things go fast and then I remember the struggle I felt when solving the different parts. I guess I need more plein air painting. I wish I had more time.
