Suede for me, Dog Man Star is a masterpiece. Such a pity things hit the fan with Bernard Butler during the recording of the album his music and Brett Andersons lyrics was an unbeatable combination.
Oh, Suede my favorite band of the era. I love them so. The Verve too, but Brett had my heart for many a year. Gotta be loyal. Dog Man Star is phenomenal.
Suede has been a favourite of mine since they came out. The Wild Ones is my choice. I think it was NME that named Suede as the next Smiths before Suede even released an album. Good Verve song too. Keep up the great work. The people you get suggestions from have good taste in music.
Thanks guys for my first song battle here:)This is fantastic channel and I really appreciate your work.As regards battle I choose Suede. These are two great songs but „Ohhh if you stay” in the last minute of The Wild Ones is just too good (of course I recommend Dog Man Star album too).By the way being London Suede doesn’t help in the States. I have read that the band lost legal battle with the singer called Suede and was forced to change the name in US. Thanks again:)
Was never a fan of The Verve, but I loved the first two Suede albums. They were never the same after Butler left. You should check out the album he did with David McAlmont - "The Sound Of McAlmont and Butler"
History all the way for me. Bought the album this came from “Northern Soul” and was pleasantly surprised by some of the great tunes on there. History and “Life’s an ocean” were standouts. Great tunes!
It was nice to see you react to Suede - who instead of being poppy and optimistic were dour - a bit like the smiths of the nineties - saw them live live twice, both excellent shows. Thanks. x
Shawn and Trey, I'm not familiar with these artists. A Brit Pop song battle. That's cool. On the first song I did hear an influence from Mind Games on the intro, since it was mentioned. Lol This is a nice slow ballad with beautiful string arrangement.. I agree on the melancholy atmosphere in the music and extended Your comments are well said. The second song is another soft ballad with a good melody and nice guitar and harmonies. I like the vocal delivery. Cool fade out. Nice lyrical content. Your comments explain it well. These are both good songs. You guys both chose Verve. I am going to choose Suede. I thought the melody is a little stronger.. Very nice music on this song battle Peter.
@@ReactionsToTheClassics Somebody had to vote for Suede. Lol I understand why you guys chose Verve, it is a solid song. For some reason I decided on the other song.
@@pete7932 Thank you Pete. I like listening to songs that you all post on this channel. I get to discover music I never heard and to explore different styles of music.
Love The Verve ! One of my favourite 90,s bands so many big songs. Their Iconic Bitter Sweet Symphony song and video just is Epic and their best imo ! ⚡👌 Richard Ashcroft melancholic Angst vocals always deliver. 💯 Great one Guys ! I do so Miss the 90,s 🔥
Suede by a mile. Still one of my favorite songs to this day. Glad to see them back on Spotify after a long absence. So many of their greatest songs ended up on b-sides and ep's, though. Check out My Dark Star or Stay Together.
Suede hated Britpop. They were never part of the Big whatever of said scene. Their ambitions were way beyond the blokey, parochial 60s pastiche of Oasis.
No competition for me, The Verve are much better in my opinion. Their song 'History' is definitely more of a grower than an instant shower, and I liked it even more after a few listens when it first came out. Suede are decent, but The Verve are in a different league.
Both songs were nice. But I am going with the Verve. I maybe biased since I’ve being a fan of the Verve since I was a kid but the second song is such a soothing and nice to listen too, but Verve is in a different league.
Suede obviously wins here. They hate Britpop, it was an abomination really. The lad culture and jingoistic musings of the others of that time was a money grab. Let it be known that Suede was a lifestyle and attitude for a large group of folks in the 90s. Suede are still going and have released 3 more albums since reforming. Bloodsports, Night Thoughts and The Blue Hour. All great albums. A 4th album is upcoming as well. So yeah. Cheers then.
Tough choice, I might have leant to Suede as i love the whole album more, but my wife would have gone with the Verve as she has it as her favourite song ever.

We need to check it out, lot of good comments on the album. Thanks Suzy!
Agreed! Coming from someone who loves The Verve

Suede. Both great bands

Dour has its place for sure! Thanks!

I like your ability to describe songs in a very precise way, only the essence without unnecessary words👍
This in my opinion is the Verve's best song and that's saying something because they've had some amazing songs
Wow that is high praise! Thanks Stuart!

Suede of course!

Will check them out and need to dig into their catalogue for sure. Thanks Edward!
Suede hated Britpop. They were never part of the Big whatever of said scene. Their ambitions were way beyond the blokey, parochial 60s pastiche of Oasis.
But they were considered part of it. Thanks
You probably get a north/south divide here, for me the Verve all day!
haha thanks!
I'm from the North and I'd take Suede over the Verve most tracks.
Verve. Definitely Verve. That History track just oozes emotional heft
Thanks Erich!
Suede big time! Best alt rock album of 90's
Thanks for Watching!

Agreed
History is one of the best songs ever written

They are great! Thanks Nathaniel!
Suede win by a country mile... Brett Anderson's voice is enough...
Thanks Neil!
Beatles, joy division, smiths, libertines.
Great faves!
Verve all the way!
I have Urban Hymns coming up soon!
Suede by a long shot and I love the Verve but no question
haha thanks Bazz!

History its good but the wild ones is transcendent maybe compare that with " the drugs don't work" will be more just

First song.
Thanks Lane!
@@ReactionsToTheClassics very welcome! If I may, I recommend checking out a band called Translator.
Suede, easy :)
Thanks for watching racephase!
Grunge preceded Britpop by about 5 years. Britpop started to take off about a year after Kurt Cobain killed himself.
ok
Love both of them but suede are better IMO nothing much I just prefer them over the verve lol
lol Thanks!
