Noraly, In the mid 70's I helped a good friend move his family to Broomstraw Ridge in Jumping Branch, West Virginia, population 360, from California. I liked it so much I fixed up an old one room house behind theirs and stayed a while, (2 yrs.) We bought a pair of new Suzuki 250 trails bikes and started exploring up in the hills behind the place. What we found was many hundreds of acres of abandon strip mines! It was trail bike heaven! We road new ground almost every time we went out and never saw another soul! I still have peg scars on my shins from it! What a Blast!
Noraly you are such an inspiration and this is because you are willing to be instructed on how to master all facets of riding a motorcycle. My congratulations to you.
Noraly, this takes me back to my childhood. I was a youngster when my dad taught me to ride, first on an old moped around the back garden and then, when he was satisfied that I could fall off without crying, he got me a small British motorbike, an old James, and took me over the fields. We lived in a small village where farming and mining for coal were kings. I rode on farms belonging to friends of my father and over the slag heaps and deserted ruins of a closed down coal mine. This is where I cut my teeth. As youngsters we would ride trials at weekends and it was great fun. As a teenager I helped my father (a police motocyclist) train young children to ride pedal cycles safely. To prove myself, I also took the RoSPA test with them. (For those who don't know, back in the 1960s the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, which began in 1947, ran courses and examinations locally for all children who could cycle. In my area it was discontinued in 1974). I passed the test 10 times and the Advanced Riders Test twice. At 16, I obtained my driving licence and the call of tarmac roads and the freedom to ride further than ever before, led me away from trials riding, although I never lost the thrill of riding off road when I could. I confess, that the little rebel in me and the thrill of doing something naughty was the root cause of my attempt to ride a trials bike up mount Snowdon in Wales in 1972/3. I failed miserably and gave up when threatened with the law by some hill walkers. It wasn't the fear of the law that stopped me as much as the punishment that would be meted by my father if ever he found out. I finally confessed to him in his final year. We were talking about my FJ1200 and I recounted my Welsh camping adventures as a teenager, forgetting to omit the Snowdon tale. The look on his face was priceless. He was 79 years old, I was 51 and I felt like a naughty schoolboy again. Thanks for sharing your short trials adventure, Noraly, you brought back so many happy memories. Stay safe, ride well and keep washing your hands. Best wishes from South Staffordshire, UK. Geoff 😷👍👍😷
I loved the “I made my own route!” comment. I recently did that twice on a race track and the instructors were not buying my explanation that I wanted to see how the race bike handled off road :) (It handled fine- just don’t brake!). I thought you did great, and the area you were riding in was beautiful. This whole series of videos has been really engaging and enjoyable!

This was great to watch. My first ride was on my Grandfather's Honda TL 250 at the age of 14. I was hooked. My father found me a beautiful Honda TL 125 (I think a 1974) and purchased it as my first ever bike. This was back when the Trial's bikes had a modest seat on them. I still learned how to climb over logs, rocks etc and take corners uber slow. It takes a lot of skill to stand up and go slow. I have also been to Trial's Competitions and the people who climb rocks that are taller than they are from the bottom at a near stand still and all the other things they do, like going across skinny logs across a river, etc. is mind-blowing. The first time I switched over to riding a traditional 4-stroke dirt bike, I had to essentially relearn how to ride. I found out very quickly that the turning radius was not as good and I couldn't go slow or really around things. I had to learn to go faster and go OVER things. :) I have mad respect for all of the trial's riders who ride now with no seat, etc.
Eish! Loraly, now I understand why you handled Sani Pass and thebChimanimani mountains like a pro. Well done, seriously impressed with your flair for applying yourself to all those lessons. You never cease to amaze me.
Loved riding this sport for 40 years and so pleased you enjoyed it. Much harder on the body than you expect but once you relax it starts to come more easily. Improves all skills for riding motorcycles better.
Five thumbs up! Yeah, observed trials, the motorsport of my youth in the Rocky Mountains of the USA. It will show whether one has good basic skills, and will improve your riding... all types of riding.
Lovely stuff! My first motorcycle was a 1974 Honda TL125 trials bike. The skills you learn in that sport are tremendous confidence-boosters, and transferable to everything else you’ll ever do on two wheels.
I started riding dirt bikes when I was 14 & those skills have been so valuable on the street with my old Harley to the Dresser that you inspired me to buy & get riding again. 😎
My big brother threw me on a little Honda trail 50 when I was 5. We lived on the top of a very steep hill and he showed me where the brakes, gear shift and gas was and pushed me down the hill yelling at my to ride or die. I got to the bottom of the hill and promptly fell over. I was hooked from then on.
Well done Noraly. No smacking trees with the handlebars , and no spills , at least on camera , good bike and speed control. Love it. Oh and the kick start hahaha. Cool video.
Watching a few older videos , I realized how musical and animated Noraly's voice is which adds nicely to the narrative qualities within when interacting with others as well as your audience. I grew up in the 70s riding BMWs everywhere with no reservation and recently tried a Honda CRF 250 Rally My comment on it is I hope someone buys it soon so I can get back on another old BMW.
She did ride over a mountain pass in the mud and snow. In freezing temps. We nearly froze your butts off just watching. It was in one of the stan countries in the middle east. that was with Basanti, my favorite. I want to go to the shop and visit Basanti, one day.
That was so much fun, Noraly. I could watch you ride all day. I am an old woman now, but I used to ride all the time when I was young. Off road, on road, and a combination. Motorcycles were my main mode of transportation for awhile. I grew up in the country riding trails in the back woods, so today was like reliving some of that. Thanks again for taking me along on your handlebars. Ride on!
Noraly, trials & motocross schools will improve your adventure riding so much. Do more when you can. I started riding on fields in 73 at the tender age of 14 on an old 350cc bike. A year later I was riding trials and dirt trails on a old British Greeves 250. At 17 I worked 2 jobs to buy a Bultaco 250 trials bike, it was a quantum leap in ability & elevated my skills too. Apart from competitions, playing "follow my leader" was such fun.
I am glad to see that you’re honing your riding skills. What you are learning now will be a big benefit to you as you travel, and could save your life. Well done!
Great job Noraly. Trails is a whole other world of control. Finese with the engine, brakes, clutch and body english. Yeap, it will wear you out. So worth it to find you balance and control. Stay safe. Motocross, another world.
This forest reminds me of southern Ohio USA such good times we had in the 70’s with regular dirt bikes and a neighborhood of kids riding together having fun thanks girl..Noraly
@@kimbee2604 I just touched your comment and the UA-cam app started my reply with your name at the front. But I do know that there are limitations to how this works now. For instance, you used to be able to write a comment and tag someone in your comment using the @ symbol, but that no longer works. I think it only works if you actually touch that person's comment to reply specifically to them.
Here am I. 50 years old with what can only be described as a "dadbod" and I quite fancy having a go at trials. But after watching your video I have decided to stay home. My knees were aching just watching you. Brilliant video Noraly. X
Oh wow. Well done. I have for 40yrs drove a street bike , everything upto 1400cc. I could never go off road like you did. Well done. I haven't got any muscles in my legs to do that. I admire you. Long may you continue my dear.
Trials & sand riding should be required for all motorcycle riders. If you can do trials & sand/mud road riding is a breeze. When I was a teen my uncle had a Bultaco trials bike. My brother and I would take turns doing trials in the forest. Mastering slow speed, balance, throttle and clutch control made everything on motorcycles so much easier. Noraly you are becoming a moto master, love it and thanks for taking us along.
I like Noraly because she's not a "poser." Most bikers are like, "Hey, I just rode in from the next town over." Noraly is like, "Hey, I just rode in from Peru." hahahah
Such a change from the normal Noraly expedition! The European autumn is so good to view from down under. Being a pom going back 60 years autumn is very much missed. The beauty and peace - wonderful! Not surprised you were flaked out after 4 hours...
I looked and looked again and again yesterday for the new Itchy Boots. Then I realized it was not Monday yet. It was Sunday! Long time from Monday to Monday!
What FUN! I rode street bikes for 10 years before getting on an off-road bike for the first time. The feel is so much different but dirt riding is a blast! And no traffic to worry about, just rocks and maybe a tree or cliff. Always wanted to try a trials bike. You did so well in your 4 hour intro to dirt riding and trials bikes. In all your adventures, I had never thought about your always having an electric start instead of a kick start. Another good thing....the dirt bikes are lighter (for all the times you fall over and have to pick them up). Safe travels!
just like anything else its practice. the more low speed stuff you practice on bikes the better you'll do at trials. i'd like to give a trial bike a go one of these days though, they look fun and flickable.
You were brilliant. When that instructor said fatigue was setting in I totally know that feeling even though only on the road. That forest section looked amazing, nice to see some hills in the Netherlands.
I have the same Monty 315, they have loads of grunt and can be a bit of a handfull. You did really well and your body position was good. Obviously looking ahead at where you want to be going next, not staring at the floor in front of the wheel. You can now start to appreciate how much balance is improved when stood up. Bloody good Job.
You have touched the next level of riding.. fly, jump, soar.. climb impossible slopes, leap over giant fallen trees. The better you get the more you can challenge yourself. very good work Noraly
I rode trials bikes for 20 years probably the best training especially going back to an enduro, it really expands how you look at what can be ridden, trials riding is pretty much the most go anywhere on 2 wheel vehicle there is... learning the massive unloads and hoping around like a frog.
Geez, if it was that much fun just to watch, then you must have had an absolute blast actually riding trials! Next Monday's videos looks like its going to be a load of fun too! 😁
Oh man, that so takes me back 50 years ago riding with my dad! Was about 10 years old when he gave me his bultaco 250 sherpa t. It's a grand lifestyle! Cheers from 🇨🇦!
When I was much younger, I bought a new trials bike and got pretty good on it. I lived in Alaska and used it to take me all over, out in the bush, where I camped and rode for many miles. It was a great bike! SR
You are better in trial than some lawyers (wink) How quickly you get the hang of it, you are a natural talent. My compliments for the subtitles, spot on translation!
First time I ever saw Trials Riding was in the movie "On Any Sunday " and I fell in love with the sport. I could really appreciate the slow n precise maneuvers. I had only ridden a '71 Honda 50cc Mini-Trail by then. 3 speed,auto. Back in the 1970s, I had no idea where to go see such riding style here in S.E.Texas. So I followed it in my teens by purchasing countless bike magazines and I followed the Europeans. There's a used Montesa for sale on CL. With no way to trailer it around, would be a waste of my $$. I'm still looking for a used XT250. But may have to buy one brand new next spring. Or the new Kawis 300cc are on my short list now. Thanks Ms Noraly for featuring Trials riding on your channel. Looked like so much fun, hope u can return to it to try again RIDE ON-RIDE SAFE!
Noraly , thank you for reminding me how much fun it was to play off road which i did most every Sunday for more than forty years . Now i tour on my goldwing when i can get away and enjoy it as well . And yes off road riding is , i believe, the best training you can ever get for riding motorcycles of every kind in most all conditions. Thoroughly enjoy being with you on your adventures .
I live in Montana and there is endless trail riding here. It is a real workout. Keep practicing every chance you get. The skils really come in handy in the real world. Job well done.
Oh, how I miss my little old yz! Forty years without riding and then I see Norali standing in the bike making turns... and suddenly I realize I was instinctively leaning my body and pressing my feet to the ground. You can leave trial but trial never leaves you, I guess. Congrats for the lovely video, Norali.
Just watching as you manouvred Ronin on your way out of there showed how much you had learned today. I realy enjoyed watching your progress/confidence grow as the day wore on. Great episode, as they all are.

Trials not trail. Two different disciplines of motorcycle sport.

~~~~So you shine on Noraly!!! You are a wonderful light of delight! We are not here to do and be as others say we "should" be. We are here to be who we are. Obviously tons of us, around our world, think you are fabulous, just as you are! Hope you enjoy a lovely week ahead and, like so many others, I look forward to your next video! May The Universe continue to keep you safe, healthy and happy! Ride on girl, ride on!! Bfn. 👋🤠👍🏍
This was great to watch. My first ride was on my Grandfather's Honda TL 250 at the age of 14. I was hooked. My father found me a beautiful Honda TL 125 (I think a 1974) and purchased it as my first ever bike. This was back when the Trial's bikes had a modest seat on them. I still learned how to climb over logs, rocks etc and take corners uber slow. It takes a lot of skill to stand up and go slow. I have also been to Trial's Competitions and the people who climb rocks that are taller than they are from the bottom at a near stand still and all the other things they do, like going across skinny logs across a river, etc. is mind-blowing. The first time I switched over to riding a traditional 4-stroke dirt bike, I had to essentially relearn how to ride. I found out very quickly that the turning radius was not as good and I couldn't go slow or really around things. I had to learn to go faster and go OVER things. :) I have mad respect for all of the trial's riders who ride now with no seat, etc.
Eish! Loraly, now I understand why you handled Sani Pass and thebChimanimani mountains like a pro. Well done, seriously impressed with your flair for applying yourself to all those lessons. You never cease to amaze me.
Loved riding this sport for 40 years and so pleased you enjoyed it. Much harder on the body than you expect but once you relax it starts to come more easily. Improves all skills for riding motorcycles better.
I did the same course in England a few years ago it taught me so much about slow riding off road and it stays with you forever
Totally agree! Probably the best way to learn how to handle a bike at slow speed.
Five thumbs up!
Yeah, observed trials, the motorsport of my youth in the Rocky Mountains of the USA. It will show whether one has good basic skills, and will improve your riding... all types of riding.
Beautiful just lovely. Your videos, Noraly, are the highlight of my week. Thank you so much :) xx
Lovely stuff! My first motorcycle was a 1974 Honda TL125 trials bike. The skills you learn in that sport are tremendous confidence-boosters, and transferable to everything else you’ll ever do on two wheels.
I started riding dirt bikes when I was 14 & those skills have been so valuable on the street with my old Harley to the Dresser that you inspired me to buy & get riding again. 😎
My big brother threw me on a little Honda trail 50 when I was 5. We lived on the top of a very steep hill and he showed me where the brakes, gear shift and gas was and pushed me down the hill yelling at my to ride or die. I got to the bottom of the hill and promptly fell over. I was hooked from then on.
Well done Noraly. No smacking trees with the handlebars , and no spills , at least on camera , good bike and speed control. Love it. Oh and the kick start hahaha. Cool video.
Good morning, Noraly. An another Monday, another great mood video 🥰
yes, trials riding, honing fine balance and dirt skills, all those skills are related to any other dirt travel. Pure enjoyment, yeah, yeah
Love your videos, even when you are not traveling ... I even click the thumbs up even before starting to watch them :D .. take care, Noraly.
Watching a few older videos , I realized how musical and animated Noraly's voice is which adds nicely to the narrative qualities within when interacting with others as well as your audience.
I grew up in the 70s riding BMWs everywhere with no reservation and recently tried a Honda CRF 250 Rally
My comment on it is I hope someone buys it soon so I can get back on another old BMW.
For someone who hasn't done trials riding ever, you were amazing! Can't wait to see the next episode!
She did ride over a mountain pass in the mud and snow. In freezing temps. We nearly froze your butts off just watching. It was in one of the stan countries in the middle east. that was with Basanti, my favorite. I want to go to the shop and visit Basanti, one day.
That was so much fun, Noraly. I could watch you ride all day. I am an old woman now, but I used to ride all the time when I was young. Off road, on road, and a combination. Motorcycles were my main mode of transportation for awhile. I grew up in the country riding trails in the back woods, so today was like reliving some of that. Thanks again for taking me along on your handlebars. Ride on!
You're a million % fantastic. The Adventures of NORALY continues! 💖💃🎶🥰 Love you lots from northern California. 🇺🇸
It was cute how Noraly’s instructor at the trial riding school was showing off while leading her around! 🤗
I think you may be surprised at how much this helps with riding on the roads..👍
should be part of every learners training
Noraly, trials & motocross schools will improve your adventure riding so much. Do more when you can.
I started riding on fields in 73 at the tender age of 14 on an old 350cc bike. A year later I was riding trials and dirt trails on a old British Greeves 250. At 17 I worked 2 jobs to buy a Bultaco 250 trials bike, it was a quantum leap in ability & elevated my skills too. Apart from competitions, playing "follow my leader" was such fun.
I am glad to see that you’re honing your riding skills. What you are learning now will be a big benefit to you as you travel, and could save your life. Well done!
Great job Noraly. Trails is a whole other world of control. Finese with the engine, brakes, clutch and body english. Yeap, it will wear you out. So worth it to find you balance and control. Stay safe. Motocross, another world.
Riding different bikes and styles is so awesome to watch. What a treat, takes me back to my youth. Great series! Thank you.
This forest reminds me of southern Ohio USA such good times we had in the 70’s with regular dirt bikes and a neighborhood of kids riding together having fun thanks girl..Noraly
Does look like fun. Had to laugh at myself a couple times I was leaning my head and body trying to turn with you. 😆
Me too!
@@jennythorpe777 We all will may have to be careful with so many of us leaning with noraly we might tip the world a little bit.
We should all join one of those yacht racing teams! I can picture us all leaning off the high side of the boat! 😀⛵
Yes indeed, me too. (how do you quote a person with the @ + name), sometimes it works and here not. (normally I tap into the name and it works)
@@kimbee2604 I just touched your comment and the UA-cam app started my reply with your name at the front. But I do know that there are limitations to how this works now. For instance, you used to be able to write a comment and tag someone in your comment using the @ symbol, but that no longer works. I think it only works if you actually touch that person's comment to reply specifically to them.
Here am I. 50 years old with what can only be described as a "dadbod" and I quite fancy having a go at trials.
But after watching your video I have decided to stay home.
My knees were aching just watching you.
Brilliant video Noraly. X
Damn Noraly that was impressive for a first go. Well done.
After watching so many of your videos that was an absolute rollercoaster of a ride and you could tell even on screen… Awesome!!!
That is where technical mountain biking skills would pay off. Looked really fun.
Oh wow. Well done. I have for 40yrs drove a street bike , everything upto 1400cc. I could never go off road like you did. Well done. I haven't got any muscles in my legs to do that. I admire you. Long may you continue my dear.
That was awesome!!’ Those skills will definitely help you when you are off road on your adventures!!! !👍
Really enjoying these vlogs , well done 👍
Absolutely freaking awesome to watch you learning these new riding skills. Loving it!!!!!! 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜
Trials & sand riding should be required for all motorcycle riders. If you can do trials & sand/mud road riding is a breeze.
When I was a teen my uncle had a Bultaco trials bike. My brother and I would take turns doing trials in the forest. Mastering slow speed, balance, throttle and clutch control made everything on motorcycles so much easier.
Noraly you are becoming a moto master, love it and thanks for taking us along.
I like Noraly because she's not a "poser." Most bikers are like, "Hey, I just rode in from the next town over." Noraly is like, "Hey, I just rode in from Peru." hahahah
Such a change from the normal Noraly expedition! The European autumn is so good to view from down under. Being a pom going back 60 years autumn is very much missed. The beauty and peace - wonderful! Not surprised you were flaked out after 4 hours...
I looked and looked again and again yesterday for the new Itchy Boots. Then I realized it was not Monday yet. It was Sunday! Long time from Monday to Monday!
What FUN! I rode street bikes for 10 years before getting on an off-road bike for the first time. The feel is so much different but dirt riding is a blast! And no traffic to worry about, just rocks and maybe a tree or cliff. Always wanted to try a trials bike. You did so well in your 4 hour intro to dirt riding and trials bikes. In all your adventures, I had never thought about your always having an electric start instead of a kick start. Another good thing....the dirt bikes are lighter (for all the times you fall over and have to pick them up). Safe travels!
Everyone thinks they can do this until they give it a go. Well done, pretty impressive stuff 👍
just like anything else its practice. the more low speed stuff you practice on bikes the better you'll do at trials. i'd like to give a trial bike a go one of these days though, they look fun and flickable.
Yup, trials bikes are really difficult to ride until you get dialed in. Like the guy said, use your feet to steer.
Everyone should have a go at this. Really hones your low speed manoeuvring while on your “bigger bike”.
What a fun way to ride. It's a whole new world that you can explore and enjoy on two wheels.
That's really a fun and good workout. I will definitely choose it over gym everytime 😆. This series just keep getting better! Loving it!
I was made an observer of one section of a Trial course (in Wales),
that my friend was taking part in on his Bultaco.
You were brilliant. When that instructor said fatigue was setting in I totally know that feeling even though only on the road. That forest section looked amazing, nice to see some hills in the Netherlands.
I have the same Monty 315, they have loads of grunt and can be a bit of a handfull. You did really well and your body position was good. Obviously looking ahead at where you want to be going next, not staring at the floor in front of the wheel. You can now start to appreciate how much balance is improved when stood up. Bloody good Job.
You made me remember when I was Young,thank you
You have touched the next level of riding.. fly, jump, soar.. climb impossible slopes, leap over giant fallen trees. The better you get the more you can challenge yourself. very good work Noraly
The World will only have returned to normal when we see Noraly in the middle of an unexplored dessert region saying "Good Morning Internet"!!
"It is 8:00 in the morning and I am having for breakfast!"
@@Phyde4ux Yes! Usually a really nice looking pastry!
Amen
Paris - Dakkar
With wet hair😂😂
I rode trials bikes for 20 years probably the best training especially going back to an enduro, it really expands how you look at what can be ridden, trials riding is pretty much the most go anywhere on 2 wheel vehicle there is... learning the massive unloads and hoping around like a frog.
Geez, if it was that much fun just to watch, then you must have had an absolute blast actually riding trials! Next Monday's videos looks like its going to be a load of fun too! 😁
Oh man, that so takes me back 50 years ago riding with my dad! Was about 10 years old when he gave me his bultaco 250 sherpa t.
It's a grand lifestyle! Cheers from 🇨🇦!
In everything you do, you make your own route. And that’s part of why we love you and your adventures! Great vid ma’am! 😊
When I was much younger, I bought a new trials bike and got pretty good on it. I lived in Alaska and used it to take me all over, out in the bush, where I camped and rode for many miles. It was a great bike! SR
You are better in trial than some lawyers (wink)
How quickly you get the hang of it, you are a natural talent.
My compliments for the subtitles, spot on translation!
First time I ever saw Trials Riding was in the movie "On Any Sunday " and I fell in love with the sport. I could really appreciate the slow n precise maneuvers. I had only ridden a '71 Honda 50cc Mini-Trail by then. 3 speed,auto.
Back in the 1970s, I had no idea where to go see such riding style here in S.E.Texas. So I followed it in my teens by purchasing countless bike magazines and I followed the Europeans.
There's a used Montesa for sale on CL. With no way to trailer it around, would be a waste of my $$.
I'm still looking for a used XT250. But may have to buy one brand new next spring. Or the new Kawis 300cc are on my short list now.
Thanks Ms Noraly for featuring Trials riding on your channel. Looked like so much fun, hope u can return to it to try again
RIDE ON-RIDE SAFE!
YOU ARE DOING GOOD,,YOU ARE BORN WINNER
Noraly I absolutely don't have any words but all I can say is that you are a super daring gutsy lady.....
Thank you for continuing to bring us AMAZING videos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Noraly , thank you for reminding me how much fun it was to play off road which i did most every Sunday for more than forty years . Now i tour on my goldwing when i can get away and enjoy it as well . And yes off road riding is , i believe, the best training you can ever get for riding motorcycles of every kind in most all conditions. Thoroughly enjoy being with you on your adventures .
Well done, looks like you had a lot of fun. I liked the bit where the bike started to move before you got on it....:-)
I live in Montana and there is endless trail riding here. It is a real workout. Keep practicing every chance you get. The skils really come in handy in the real world. Job well done.
This is adventure extreme sports.... absolute stunning
Excellent!! The skills you get this way can make life on the bike so much safer. Thanks Noraly.
Always love your videos. Highlight of my day.
I've always enjoyed trials riders. They are masters of balance and control. there is so much to be learned from riding in the dirt. Great video!
Oh, how I miss my little old yz! Forty years without riding and then I see Norali standing in the bike making turns... and suddenly I realize I was instinctively leaning my body and pressing my feet to the ground. You can leave trial but trial never leaves you, I guess. Congrats for the lovely video, Norali.
A laugh a minute with a little.....close to the edge Ahhh thrown in. What a blast!!! Thank you. Ride safe.
Just watching as you manouvred Ronin on your way out of there showed how much you had learned today. I realy enjoyed watching your progress/confidence grow as the day wore on. Great episode, as they all are.
Yup me too, that was a tricky right down the slope and a left through the gate with no hesitation.👍
Looks like a ton of fun 👍👍
